I'd say if you're comparing the elantra 1.6 manual and the forte 1.6 sx... go for the 1.6 sx.
You'd be getting a lot more for your money, some examples being the climate control, paddle shifts, electrochromatic rear view mirror, reverse camera (off the top of my head), and you don't even get the supervision cluster meters for the 1.6 manual elantra.
And also, the forte 1.6 sx is auto, which, depending on your usual routes of travel (traffic jams?) will give your left leg a huge sigh of relief.

Thanks for the info. My main concern when buying a car is : good design(obviously Elantra MD wins), good FC and maintenance cost. So those u mentioned are just added features which is a bonus.

And one more thing, I prefer manual over auto, i dont have sissy legs so thats ok to jam 2hours in manual transmission. yawn.gif

Sometimes it's these little bonuses that make your life a little bit easier. smile.gif

If your heart is with the elantra, I'd say go for it then. I could have gone for the 2.0 forte too, but i ended up going for the 1.6 hs elantra just because i fell heads over heels with the design.

Sissy legs. hahaha

I used to think like that too..traffic jam ? so what ?

Then one day i kena trapped in traffic jam after finished playing 1 1/2 hours of futsal.
My left leg suddenly cramp after pressing the clutch too many times in short period.
Kena horned nonstop because i can't move my car at all.

Then I tell myself, my next car won't be manual one anymore.

This remind me of my most painful "jamming" experience:
1. 5 hours jam from KL to bentong with kancil manual (that time i just learned how to drive manual car)
2. 5-6 hours jam from melaka to KL with Iswara manual

Sometime we just can predict how long the jam will be...

coz i think 1.8 price is too high for a car without resale value..better up a bit for honda civic

so i'm keen on 1.6HS..but some said it is underpowered..really?

Wait for new civic?? I suggest u either get the current civic b4 out of stock, or buy something else. Total waste of time waiting. Just google for reviews. I can't imagine how new generation model can become smaller...

best way is to test it yourself. A lot of ppl said the 1.8 is sluggish. To me yes, there is a slight hesitation but it behaved as what is expected of a 1.8. IMHO, power wise, its not too different from other 1.8s that i've tested.

and IMHO, its too early to judge the elantra as not having resale value. It will depend on the popularity of the car.
