I think buy vw need to hv spare time as well. You wan service car need advance booking sometime full. Then if u unlucky ur dsg will always have problem. Quite common to see dsg malfunction.

as mentioned earlier, 5 yrs only on engine n gear box the rest only 3 yeras drool.gif
but i think changing the interior bulbs to LED don't void the warranty i suspect.
saw a lot of DIY videos on YT showing it rclxms.gif

yup! exactly same thought i have. I guess hard plastic have a few grade as well. most importantly, the surface of the hard plastic for the Civic is so much more refined, somehow.

+1. i think the selling point of civic back then was the revolutionary design that it evolved from the previous Hondas. civic was one of the few who had digital meter as well when it first launched and it can be considered the 'fluidic design' of that time smile.gif i remembered everyone from friends to uncle aunty praising the design. of course right now, its all over the streets but somehow i feel the design is still up to par compared to most of the cars' designs today.

too bad, the new gen of civic needs a ultimate facepalm smile.gif

Actually the door mechanism or conti car is differrnt with asian. You will notice a distinct three steps opening in conti cars but not asian car. Tat why you need to pull harder bcoz of different design.

was at VW showroom just now and yes, polo's door is damn solid and heavy for a car that small but interior too packed for a 181cm person like me.

I just came back from test driving 1.8L version... to be honest I dont feel excited driving the car... but the drive was smooth anyway, guess that was the what Elantra has been boosting about.. the smoothness.

My SA told me Elantra is quite different from other CKD models - the entire car was actually imported wholly as if CBU, but while arriving at Inokom ppl there did something to make it localized (like putting on the very 'pretty' Inokom badge, wrapping leather seats etc). Thus he assures me the assembly gonna be good (better than Kia FXrte he said biggrin.gif)

The SA also promised to give me RM1200 discount which I think is a tad higher than what the other forumers been offered? Anyway I doubt I will be getting this car anyway as I prefer a faster performing car (such as Peugeot 308T or mazda 2.0 smile.gif )

Maybe the car was too expensive to build. Thats why honda cut so many things on new car. Interior material, styling and even the organ type pedal.

imo, forte's refinement is pretty bad. yes, its packed with features and all that but when you look carefully at the built up, its pretty rough. as for elantra, i have no idea what are the people complaining comparing with, BMW? for me, it doesn't lose out much with my civic or i could say the interior quality is about the same. further more, its better than forte's quality even for a CKD.

if elantra looks cheap then buy more expensive car if can afford

since elantra not worthy for money, then buy forte since most ppl comment they claimed forte worthy for their money

Went to another showroom to check the car out/dig more offers/info today.
There are so many negative comments regarding the interior space, fit and finish, door closing feeling and whatnot.
My friend was 178cm and with the driver's seat in his preferred position, me at 174 cm still had plenty of legroom. The fittings seemed good and lush enough for me. (Although i've a minor gripe with the red stitching on the leather) The feeling of closing the door was also solid enough for me.

Not saying anyone's just making up things or nitpicking, but I suggest everyone to go see the car in the metal to form your own opinions on it.

Now to arrange for a test drive, next week. tongue.gif

I agree. My family has a forte, and while the quality is pretty good as well, I still found the elantra's better, and felt more premium.

RM118,888 - 55% NCD (around Rm1600) - discount from salesman (around RM1200) = RM109,000

I met my SA in batu pahat while I was at hometown today.. also in Johor smile.gif
