have fun waiting, SD pulling another 'Elantra' on us. went to showroom today and asked about veloster and guess what, estimated launch August and price around 130k. owh yeah. from q1 to q3. SD should be called Slow Darby.

anyway, gf's bro confirmed everything and finally when we asked if delivery's possible and the faggot said, actually you need to wait for 2nd batch, first batch are for those who have 'booked' way before. we expected that though. dint had a chance to test drive but i did 'molest' the car and built quality aint that bad, even compared to the civic but somehow, lost the oomph that i had for the car. now the interior looks, plain.

Launch August is ok if they bring in turbo version.

Btw, where did u place yr booking ? SG.Pinang ?
*
yeah, the SA kinda noob. know nothing. he din't want to give discount cause he said they did not get the 'margin or whatever' yet. cant remember. my gf's bro said discount 1000, shut up and take my money tongue.gif . he agreed but he said it will not be certain (discount) until the launch?? dint it launch already? i dint care much la, he did the talking i was there molesting the car. i was only there to enquire about veloster.
no turbo, only the same "underpowered" 1.6 which alot of review said that too in veloster forums. but apparently 0-100 is good, under 9 secs. if 130k, i doubt it will sell. only advantage it has over CR-Z is back seats and of course, 3 doors design lol.

Now August pulak???
Last I asked was June (yes, it's a delay from initial announced Q1.

Seems that HSDM credibility has indeed down the drain.

Initially was hopeful for Veloster. But looking at all the negative review on the 1.6 Elantra power department, kinda worries me.

Maybe I should drop the plan for trying to act young and go for a proper D segment... K5? sad.gif
*
maybe, MAYBE la, 'gomen' trying to adjust their price again hahhahaha. or SD actually plans to wait after election in case car tax will be removed? (yes i know SD GLC) just some wishful dreaming lol.

No official figures yet but quite a number on the streets. Even during the initial launch, bookings were more than expected

How big is the batch? Golf is decent enough to be a family car already.  biggrin.gif
Thanks to our hybrid scheme so at least honda can sell their CRZ here rather than struggling in North America and Europe cool.gif

Added on April 2, 2012, 9:14 am
Later many people will start bashing and saying not worth it coz Mazda3 MPS only 175k with 256hp, go for japanese better sweat.gif
*
the reason why it is struggling in america is because, they thirst for raw power, and CR-z lacks that rclxms.gif they expect it to be a 911 carrera hybrid.

ya, first batch 120 units.

cos the car dont have much power compare to what they have in NA and Europe. the power can be easily matched by 1.2tsi or any diesel coupe. but in msia the pricing is just right for a flashy ride biggrin.gif like  a metropolitan flashy coupe
*
just saw another one in silver on my way to office. apparently waiting time for CR-z is at least 2 months. the wait could be caused by fully import as well. i wonder whats gonna happen when government removes the subsidies for hybrids. maybe by that time we have our Preve Hybird.

ppl with extra cash and they dont know just what to do with it..... eg: "damn... maybe i'll just get a nice 2-door sport hybrid to drive around town just for show"

cars like this are just not practical for the common use.
*
practical is also subjective, lol. to me it is 'practical' hahaha.

120 units not bad at all considering the position of the car. The sales should be even better when CVT coming. biggrin.gif
Strict 2 seater always have limited sales. Many people still need that kind of practicality and that's why veloster is selling so much better than CRZ in North America although Veloster only got 1.6GDi. biggrin.gif
*
apparently most of the owners in malaysia are under 30, so i think youngsters dont care much bout rear seats as passenger one is enough, IYKWIM. brows.gif ive joined them in their FB group trying to korek infos brows.gif

How come Veloster selling so much better than CRZ when their performance are so similar?
*
rear seats one of the points as well but i snooped in veloster forum and alot regretted because the lack of power. CR-z has a better acceleration but race from 0-100 crz won by just a fraction of seconds. i was kinda inclined to try out veloster but i guess with that price tag and hyundai brand, i don't have the balls to try it out yet.

Those people never test the car before buying? ohmy.gif
But the sales figure is quite a distant between the two. CRZ less than 500 a month, Veloster more than 3000 a month in US even before turbo engine coming rclxms.gif
*
different market i guess. they like trucks over there while over here trucks are considered rare compared to others. overall, it won probably because of the rear seat. well, they were planning on a better performance crz too, but no idea if its still going on. another thing is, it doesn't handle quite well according to the forum and reviews.

lol i have no idea but most probably they did test drive but thats what they say in forums icon_rolleyes.gif i guess what they are saying is, when it needs to be 'pushed' then perhaps it doesnt produce the power they expect.

the SA told me, normally this kind of 'SPORTS CAR' won't be so cheap like cr-z because they get tax exemption. lol i asked him 1.6 is sports car ar? myvi turbo also can tabao lol. 130k, i buy CR-z use 20k put in super charger. notworthy.gif i told him isnt it supposed to be between elantra as 1.8 elantra is 112 only. he was like, no la. different car. veloster more fast, sports car. doh.gif actually i get this alot from Honda salesman too, they keep saying crz is a sports car.

Went for test drive yesterday. Both 1.6 & 1.8 too.

Stil the price come into my mind 1st place whether the car worth it or not with the features.

U know what, Lame Darby oredy came out a memo saying the they will review the price again, not lower but higher! Claiming that IF the response is good on these few days. I read the official memo given by SA.

So what u all guys think? If this is so true, Lame Darby is really really a greedy company that don't really care about the market needs right now, value for money!
*
to me it could be true as well, as the biggest portion of the buyers are out there, not in the forums but by increasing the price, it would be a terrible mistake. look at sonata, the sales are dropping. this fluidic trend doesnt last long. at the end of the day, business is business. would you increase the price for rice during war or would you sell it cheaper to the beggars?

Even if 10 people in lowyat bashing here and cancelling booking, outside maybe 1000 people queueing for cars now. If they only have 3000 units for this year do you think they will reduce the price when the booking is already more than 1000? biggrin.gif
*
the problem is with the amount of people talking and bashing here, only 2-4 are the ones who will end up or actually can afford buying it.

@WieBoy let me slide on that la. Forte doesn't appeal to me. And more gadget = more things to take care and repair later on. (If they can sell you a car that almost not making money, they will find other way to get it back. It's basic business.) But don't bash me on that lar. My reason is really personal leh. Hahaha...

-----------

Say did most of you get the full brochure (the one with red elantra on cover). If many want to see, I can scan and put it up by tmrw.

If Forte can do it, why cant Hyundai?
Furthermore with so many gadgets and features.

Does it mean than Forte is making a loss and Hyundai is just getting by?
Why is Elantra priced much higher than Forte? If so what justifications?
Both are of the same segment what.

Simply saying Elantra is not of the same class as Forte is really nonsense and lame excuse.

Dont bash me yah.....
*
i guess im the one of the few that thinks that forte should actually belong to b-segment lol (yada yada personal opinion). if you put forte and elantra side by side, it looks like a blinged chihuahua beside a 'majestic' tigress.

honda city b segment 90k. elantra c segment must <90k. rclxms.gif
