QUOTE(zlyc @ Mar 31 2012, 12:28 AM) Tested 1.6hs and 1.8 with 2 in front and 1 passenger. Not really full test drive but purely to test and feel on the acceleration. Myvi 1.3A can accelerate from 0-100 within 11.6s? 1.6h.s acceleration seems sluggish from the beginning but picking up in later stage.. yup underpower. My myvi1.3A easily win from 0-100km but personally still feel better then forte 1.6sx. 1.8 is much more feeling like driving a C-segment car and slightly better and responsive like myvi feeling but really don't feel vroom power on it. Still can bear with it. Interior wise, in common, hand break really feeling cheapo as mentioned by some earlier. Door close sound does not really feel sound solid when slam the door... i prefer more solid sound and feel high class with that sound haha. 1.6sx, interior as expected, basic one. Leather is okay. 1.8 Nappa leather really nice. the look and feel is 1 grade upper than 1.6hs. SA offer extra rm500 on trade in car, rm500 on tint, full tank, smartag and tissot watch if book by this week. They can't promise any better deal as they don't even know their commission at the moment... In short, don't really feel a deal breaker at the moment. If would like to purchase, i will recommend 1.8 or go for forte 2.0. anyway, i will not make any purchase as 1.8 is still slightly higher with current spec to me. 1.6 underpower Added on March 31, 2012, 10:28 am QUOTE(Sunsetwoohlala @ Mar 31 2012, 09:35 AM) because of your comments, today onwards there'll be many JPJ road blocks You really have to try it first. So many people are driving Persona and even Exora which are a lot more underpower than Elantra/Forte 1.6 Added on March 31, 2012, 9:54 amplanned to buy 1.6HS but everybody says sluggish..how la This post has been edited by caddilac: Mar 31 2012, 10:28 AM |

QUOTE(heng84 @ Mar 31 2012, 10:55 AM) Myvi 1.3A can accelerate from 0-100 within 11.6s? : Maybe he say under normal daily acceleration (not WOT),I tried my gf myvi acceleration not bad quite responsive until 60 maybe of the gear ratio la but elantra I feel abit sluggish maybe due to the Eco mode I might be wrong Added on March 31, 2012, 11:14 am QUOTE(harpyboy @ Mar 31 2012, 11:10 AM) ECO mode. someone can help to confirm it can actually be turned off before official launch next week? that's the first thing I'm going check and disable, if can. the feature should be standard worldwide... QUOTE(ezee123 @ Mar 31 2012, 06:30 PM) For someone who used to be driving Kia Carens for the past 8 years, do you think she will find the Elantra 1.6 underpower? Carens 1.8 or 2.0?Added on March 31, 2012, 6:53 pmIf Elantra 1.6 has similar performance with Forte 1.6SX, then I will be perfectly fine with it I found that 1.6HS also has sliding center console as in 1.8 but 1.8 don't have ECM... QUOTE(J_pandapuppet @ Mar 31 2012, 06:54 PM) when I saw the car.... Did you touch and feel the dashboard which the upper section is fully covered in soft plastic? I do admit that the door panel is using hard pastic but it feels more solid than Forte and Elantra has very thick padded arm rest on every door - appearance disappointing - feeling inside ain't solid, plastic - it got u thinking, 97k for a SKD....... - WASTED FREAKING 1 YEAR AND 3 MONTHS FOR THIS PLASTIC!!! seriously piece of crap for me BYE BYE ELANTRA!!! For you guys who don't mind the plastic feeling, go ahead for FORTE, seriously don't need to wait for this anymore! Such as waste of time! |

QUOTE(caddilac @ Mar 31 2012, 06:45 PM) on paper elantra shud be slightly better but better ask her to try out the Elantra first.. Added on March 31, 2012, 7:36 pm QUOTE(J_pandapuppet @ Mar 31 2012, 07:09 PM) I sat inside the car, what I did in the car is like a harassment I guess...feel everything. Too bad then. Personally i can't find another car within 100k to have similar quality as elantra Yeah I did the same in Forte 2.0 before that is why I drop it from my list earlier already...Both ain't solid for me, however, Forte is much roomier. Anyone who consider between Forte and Elantra, must think twice and compare the price.. unless you super dovey lovey with Elantra (which I think I never have any idea why anymore) ...just go ahead lor.. QUOTE(tony @ Mar 31 2012, 07:47 PM) If solid is the main concern. Go get German made. No one can beat German in term of solid. But Jetta is not really solid... I found that the interior quality of Elantra is better than Jetta Their car is solid. Their national football team is solid. Their economy is solid. Their technology is solid. Their ex Nazi solders is solid too. German = Solid |

QUOTE(FluidicSculpture @ Mar 31 2012, 09:07 PM) 1600 booking so far, majority is 1.8L Premium. Wow! 1600 is quite impressive if most people confirm their bookings!People rushed and waited around the parking lot as the Elantra come down from the trailer. I've never sat down ever since till 8:30pm. So critics, what say you? And tomorrow is the last day to get a free watch from SD. Plus first batch is running out fast. |

QUOTE(FluidicSculpture @ Mar 31 2012, 10:18 PM) Today I got no chance to explore the car at all. Customer chain combo and most of my in car experience comes from the 1.8 The first 2000 in whole Malaysia will get the free watch?Sluggishness takes a while to get used to, cause the automatic is programmed for smooth and fuel efficient driving that's why there's a slight hesitation when you floor the pedal suddenly. Use the semi-shifter if you want to see how far you can push any Hyundai's model. Free watch is for all dealers, as long as you're the first 2000 booking. |

QUOTE(orcinus @ Apr 1 2012, 08:14 AM) Test drove the 1.8 yesterday. Is it because the tyre too quiet edy so you hear the engine? Felt that the engine sound began to sip in at 2K+ RPM. It was unbearable when pushed to 6K+ RPM, it gave loud whining sound. Is the sound insulation that bad? Anyone experienced this? My friend tested the car shared with me that the tyre insulation is better than Sonata and the engine noise insulation in normal driving is among the best in C-segment But then i haven't get to try the car and need to wait until next friday |

QUOTE(ahsong7 @ Apr 1 2012, 01:17 PM) Me too. U booked from which branch? This forum doesn't replicate the real world out there. When I was in showroom I have heard lot of positive comment in the showroom and within the 30minutes I stayed there molesting the car, the SAs had confirmed 5 cars on the spot. Three 1.8 and 2 1.6HS Added on April 1, 2012, 1:42 pmDespite so many negative feedback on pricing in forum, when asked SA how many has canceled the order, the answer is none. This give SA confident the car sale will be good and don't willing to give any discount. But then I believe someone will definitely cancel the booking if they expect the price to be similar to Forte Added on April 1, 2012, 2:37 pm QUOTE(shinn911 @ Apr 1 2012, 02:34 PM) test drived the 1.6 today...quite disappointed no real pick up even with eco on or off....leather seat wasnt that comfy and its abit hard to turn corners coz the car is low so harder to see when turning left or right coz the side will really block your vision... Then you will feel like flying when you test a Vios then test drive a city....damn city has more pick up power than the elantra 1.6 This post has been edited by caddilac: Apr 1 2012, 02:37 PM |

QUOTE(ar188 @ Apr 1 2012, 02:39 PM) I don't think the P3 will be as powerful as Vios in city coz P3 isn't as light and cvt gearbox won't give that kind of instant power as AT. Btw both the CVT in Exora and Saga got quite some rubber band effect compared to the more matured tuning found in Japanese. |

QUOTE(shinn911 @ Apr 1 2012, 02:42 PM) haha doubt i wan a dugong or a potong.....though i can say inspira (ins-piracy) has caught my eye Every car sure have their pros and cons. Impossible to expect a car to be as stylish as Elantra, as good handling as Civic, as frugal as Altis, as spacious as Sylphy, as fully loaded as Forte all at the same time. You can only find the more balanced one. but for elantra other than the design...nothing much to offer cant say for 1.8 since i can only test it next week but can only say comfort wise......sylphy thumps it in comfort and legroom at the back Added on April 1, 2012, 2:58 pm QUOTE(ar188 @ Apr 1 2012, 02:57 PM) alesi say drive to believe mah.. I will test the Preve when it is launched but i won't buy it bro, so how? which car you getting? 1.6HS? Yeah I have confirmed 1.6HS. This post has been edited by caddilac: Apr 1 2012, 02:58 PM |

QUOTE(feelfree @ Apr 1 2012, 03:10 PM) Honestly, before I test this Hyundai Elantra, I have a very high hope on it, but after yesterday test-drive, everything seem totally opposite. When sitting inside, the head room is the most obvious bad design, I'm 6ft something, no matter how low I adjust the seat, when entering I have to becareful my head not to hit the roofline. Second, the dashboard layout is very weird, especially the center air cond vent. About performance, I only tested the 1.8 and I found the power isn't there, I can feel the sluggishness and I have to push harder to get the run faster a bit, and the NVH is bad, tires noise and engine noise is quite obvious, and the engine not as smooth as I expected. When comparing to sylphy, the riding and driving quality is like heaven and hell, totally opposite, the sylphy is so much smoother than the Elantra and quietness is also very obvious. So does this New Elantra worth the money? My answer is totally not worth, and pls don't bash me, It is just my own view and opinion. Maybe it is a matter of expectations. Sylphy is boxy so very spacious while the suspension setting is soft so the ride is smooth. These are very common things i believe. You cant expect the car to have coupe roofline while maintaining suv like headroom. Elantra do handles better so it will definitely need to sacrifice some smoothness in ride department. And people do have different need, i will not spend 120k on a car wif drum brake and without vsm. I would rather have alittle compromise in refinement rather than safety. |
