Nope, if you meant last years set with wheels (aka "vehicle"). Im conserving $$ for sets with good parts selection for my MOC.

Hi to all lego fans,

just wondering does anyone here tried purchasing lego from lego.com, amazon or toy r us US and have it ship back to KL??

the prices here in kl are so high, especially the star wars range.

Amazon possible la. TRU US and LEGO.com is impossible unless u have fren or fam member there. You ask them buy and ship back to you.

amazon cheaper most of the time. but shipping gonna cost a lot. and remember that if u import > rm500 worth of toys, custom can stop that.

so u try to deliver to someone in US, and ask ur friend there to deliver to u, and in the slip, write the amount < 500. but it's not going to cheap also.

I check the figure thread and they said starting 1st April Kastam gonna tax 15% on toys whether is new or used. . . .

carry using own hands out from airport shouldnt be a problem. Problem is only with parcels arriving from oversea will be taxed kaw kaw. By then you can "attempt" to say ur frens mail u all these toys for you coz he juz won lottery and dont need it anymore. Try wear coffee stained singlet + selipar jepun there to convince the kastam that u indeed deserve those toys smile.gif

actually, if u hand carry into airport, it depends on ur luck. tongue.gif if they stop you and scan, then open your bag. you have to explain.

anyway, a bit out of topic. hahaha.
don think i will b going US anytime soon....so have to stop collecting lego for a while :T

I just received 3 small parcels from US today , no problem at all.
Got another registered airmail arrived at KLIA yesterday, cleared custom as well now at National Sort Centre (Dayabumi, I think) . Looks ok too. All has Toy in the custom declaration. Maybe I got lucky.

Yeah I like their lego's star wars series but there are only so much I can buy. I am started to look into Lego now. Limited luggage weight of 3 luggages. Compare with the price here in TRU or even in Lowyat forum market, with those price i can get 2 or 3 more of the same with price in US.

Unfortunately i can't this round. As all my 3 luggages will be filled up because of the bulky stuff like shoes and lego (if i buy). Weight is not a problem for me, issue is with space.

You can use hopshogo or borderlinx to help you ship your lego from US to here... I been doing it... but the trouble is now got fuel surcharge and bloody US tax... so it is not worth buying from lego US already.

wow 3 luggage bags? i only can carry 2 checkin and 1 handcarry.

some sets are very bulky. i recommend u get star wars because the price is very very very different in msia. the rest of the lego series, not so much.

also, get from AMAZON. they have discounts from time to time n definitely cheaper than LEGO store.

Thans for the advice, I will definately get star wars series. Cars 2 not bad too, maybe getting those for daughter if space still allow.

My advice is get star wars, the dino hq base, modular buildings, ninjago. All these are overpriced here, the star war set especially. If you can snag a ucs super star destroyer it would be better, the SSD cost 2k here.

To pack just take everything out of the original box. Lego boxes are mostly air anyway.

I will only sell if I regret buying it. So far basing on passed record I always kept toys I bought.....so far I sold one only but that is because I have an extra set.

Today, I try to place order of the item "LEGO Technic Limited Edition Set #8041 Race Truck" via Amazon.com, but couldnt get thru because of my address..is that because the box is too big and they will not ship in Malaysia?

Please guide.

I just started to be LEGO collectors, and hopefully to get the first collection toys for myself. hehe..I only interested in Lego Technic series...haiz...but, price in Malaysia is way too expensive. Singapore price is cheaper, but, travelling cost to Sg also not cheap o!

Actually, where you guys actually order your collection? please guide me a bit..

Yeah,totally agree. Price in malaysia is at least 20 to 40percent higher than other country like singapore. But of coz,lego itself not consider cheap toys,so the standard is there.

The only one you will find cheaper here is the Collectible minifigures, they retail at SGD 4.5 I think.

Yea LEGO is pretty expensive here. But if you like minifigs just go for it, although the minifigs are expensive, but in the end is still cheaper than you purchase a whole set. smile.gif

Sometimes it cant deny that, hobbies always match with income. Today,i manage to get my first lego, lego technic,logging truck 9397, few hundred, wow, actually very heartpain coz i spent few hundred,just for a toys which endup display on shelf. ...i dont expect to collect all model under this theme. LEGO box for those small sets especially, are so damn hard to open if i still want the box to be in perfect condition. I used a blade and patiently cut through the glued part at the box there...but sometimes, I screwed up doh.gif

some parts that are lost maybe can be replaced by TLG brows.gif

China brand? you might wanna check the plastic quality used and also the paint on the mini-figures, the paint will fade over time...

They have been many cases of toxic paint/colors being used for these China made toys, I rather not take the chance.

Yeah, china brand qualith still so so..foe example, window glass in plastic,clarity less, sometime got scratch..color not so consistant.

I previously have bought a couple of rip-off China clones before from Enlighten. One was a rip-off of the Black Seas Barracuda and the other was a military tank. The quality for the majority of the bricks is ok but there is a few bricks which is sharp. Then again there are no missing pieces and you get chrome weapons.

Morning all, it took me about 6 hours in total to built the truck...

Yea,enlighten is consider good quality at only rm40...vry cheap,can buy more for display

Replace with new bricks....lol
I don't think you can do anything about that, it is a chemical change to the plastic material from UV exposure.

Went to TRU Empire, asked for a box of S7 but no stock. Apparently they were provided with just one box yesterday and there were about 10 packs left....

when i reach there(Tropicana TRU), left about 20packs, i ask the cashier open a new box for me, he said dont havelah, whateverlah,... i said jangan tipulah, mesti ada banyak lagi... after chit chat a while, he open a new box for me... haha...

I see that most of you guys here are a huge fan of minifigs ? Where are the Technic lovers here ? I can only see one that bought a 9397 few pages back.

Anyone owns a Unimog ? That thing fascinates me, such a great engineering design.

Next time offer to pay for whole box first. I have seen manager unhappy cuz a customer asked to buy a box but later only pick out the ones he wants. This was during series 3 time.

Got back from OneU..dun have any good hope for lego at that place. Old man TRU again pressingx3 the red packets while chanting "Excuse me sir/ mam..do you have a STAR CARD?".

Hope for replenishment soon due to the fast selling. I heard popular characters' ratios this time is better.

Technic are for patient hardcore builders with strong fingers. Until today I cant seem to get myself to "enjoy" building sideways with most steps involves connecting pins to beams. However.... due to its parts versality.. I bought myself a cute lil' yellow technic crane that offers me almost everything I need for my future MOC: tread/tracks and crane boom. cheers!

Due to budget constraints I limit myself to to yearly flagships as I need the dough for other themes as well. Like last year bought the Unimog, last year the excavator, the year before that Crane Truck. Except for some cases managed to get some old gems like 8868 or 8880 or 8448.

I know another Technic lover and expert MOCer, but recently he is busy as hell with work overseas. sweat.gif

What's in store for 2012 then ? I don't think the logging truck 9397 is a flagship model as it is lower priced than Unimog, I read somewhere about 9398 Rockcrawler ? That could be the flagship for 2012.

The 9398 is 2012 flagship model with remote control. Expect it to be priced Higher than the unimog.

Only the 8275 bulldozer and 8043 excavator sets has remote control.

most German or Danish seller usually state very clear that they will not lie on the declared amount. So, I usually buy in less than RM500 batch. Tax may not be much but the hassle of kena detained is...again can always get them to ship via DHL who can pay the tax on your behalf.

I am trying to perfect the art of raba-raba without messing up the dress(packaging). Should be ok to keep them sealed unless you are in a hurry to get the figures. I have another set to practise...lol. I will keep a set for you then ?

8297 came out in 2008. It's going to be very expensive!

9398 will be out this later this year. Expect it to be rm 800-1000.

BTW, you also aiming at the Cap set? Me too. Hopefully we'll get Thor, Black Widow or Hulk in much smaller (& cheaper) sets.

Well to be more precise, its actually the astronaut from Series 1 or any other astronaut from SPACE series. Pink astronaut from Series 6 can be the female companion.

Series 7 almost gone? I hope they get replenish. Yesterday I was at One U, not many packs left. I saw an empty Series 7 case on the service counter. I asked if can take...before finish my enquiry, red shirt insisted no more oreldi. Minifigures even hawter than transformers. smile.gif

i picit the series 6; i bought 2; i was very confident; the genie & the cowboy ..
i sensed the genie, picited the lamp .. i sensed the cowboy, picited the gun ..

i tried to recognize their accessories/parts to guess which character they are ..
got the genie and cowboy today ... very2 nice feeling ... hahahha...

only 6 left to complete series 6 .. hehe ..

After looking the picture at Brickset, you guys are right, the 'cape' was supposed to be the veil of some sort. sweat.gif No wonder I felt something was not right about the bride.

Anyone here bought the other Avengers sets like the huge jet, hulk helicarrier or the wolverine set? Looks like the Orang Besi one is the most popular.

I know it was expensive when I bought it, but the set was too hard to resist anyway. Besides I think this set is the most laku of all the Avengers sets. There seem to be more Magneto+Wolverine+Deadpool sets laying around than this set.

That is why for license sets if got lubang better get it from overseas. If just want the minifig might as well get it from Bricklink. I have not seen the Hulk helicarrier yet, maybe it cost a bomb not many retailers willing to bring it in. I see the Batcave also wondering why so expensive, somemore it is the dumbdown version of the original Lego batcave.

The US sells the cheapest Lego. Just go to Lego Shop At Home and compare the price here. In fact sometimes those TRU, Target, Walmart all knockdown the price to BOGO or even bigger discount. But take not some out of production Lego is very expensive.

There is a local seller on eBay selling the stands, it will cost about RM2 each.

When Legoland opens, just go get the normal plates or wedge and maybe some tiles and DIY at the Pick-A-Brick.

Ya, bro. is either rare because there are 3 in a box (last time some charater got only 2) or is rare coz of high demand and people habih sapu them.

Otherwise if you buy playset, some character only appear in one of the big set. That oso can consider rare.

Guys, anyone has an extra Spartan Warrior (from Series 3) and Space Man (from Series 1)?

I have most of Series 6 & 7 for trade, incl. Minotaur, Bandit, Roman Soldier, Aztec Warrior, Galaxy Patrol, Bride, Bunny Guy, Lady Liberty, etc.

Dulu, when I was small parents could not afford Lego, as a young adult I could not afford it, now as an old man I can finally afford it and started buying for my son and got hooked myself too since. smile.gif

Yeah, i have been like "to open or not to open" for quite a while. I have spares for the stormtrooper, shadow ARF and white boba fett but not the Darth Vader, that is why I did not open as I want to keep a separate completely sealed set.

The Chrome Darth Vader has double in price (eBay and Brinklink) since I bought it less than a year ago. ohmy.gif

Well, with Hasbro's 3 3/4 stuff like Star Wars, Marvel Universe, GI Joes, Transformers, you can keep them MISB and still see the figures. But with Lego in sealed packs? Hmmm... Need to use imagination. Or just see the art on the packaging.

lego is good over the years .. they always use top quality A grade plastic .. and maintains the quality ...

unlike hasbro .. they had to cut cost by using different quality plastic .. even downsizing scales and whatever necessary to save more cost .. and the price, always increasing by years ...

Well, that's true to a certain extent, but Lego has recently been catching a lot of flak for using cheaper "China-quality" plastic, especially within the Collectible Minifigure Series. Personally, the difference in quality (especially the leg pieces) is incredibly noticeable and frankly I'm a bit disappointed in them for skimping on the manufacturing process.

I guess its understandable that they're having to use Chinese factories at the rate they're pumping out the minifigs.

I have a Lego stormtrooper and white bricks from 6 years back. Till now color still remain the same. Havent turned yellow.

Chew a Hasbro toy and it breaks.. try chewing a lego minifigure...it break our tooths.. biggrin.gif

Cool part abt LEGO, they dun repeat sets that often. Maintain good collectible value. flex.gif

Looking at this picture it is hard to tell which is the original Lego bricks and the enlighten clone bricks. sweat.gif The clone bricks sure looks like it has the quality of the original ones. The stickers you did yourself?

Walau.. so lansi already ahh? .. sweat.gif I have not bought anything large from them in years although I have their member card. Last time want to buy CMF packet cannot use the member card because less than RM 10. doh.gif

For the Fangpyre truck did you check Isetan? In the whole Mid Valley the place to look out for Lego is Isetan Gardens, Jusco, Metrojaya and TRU. Robinson the Lego stock is very old. If you noticed, Zane got the smallest vehicle compared to the other ninjas. Previously he had the smallest dragon, this time he got a lousy snowmobile laugh.gif I wonder if he is going to kena again next year. But the Fangpyre truck is really huge, bigger than the black ninja's vehicle. I saw the assembled model in TRU MV or Isetan KLCC, forgotten where already.

used proxy service comgateway to ship over

apple tree house
wood lodge
base plates
some light sabres
community minifigures

total usd 150

then the shipping (DHL express) was USD120

fark! damn expensive. even cheaperst proxy shipping was usd100.

end of the day, the above items costed me like RM800 which i really blur liao. but as i know community minifigs is under lego education which is really cool.

by look u cant tell the diff on enlighten and std lego bricks
but generally the enlighten ones are really crappy to build with.

i did the sticker myself but this round i just trial so i printed on std A4 paper and had trouble with the size also.
once i get my photo paper i think it would be good liao i can do some nice signboards for my kedai.

Haha.. well you can buy all the Avengers sets, except for the 6867 - Cosmic Cube Escape to get the whole avengers team. The shitty part is that you'll need 6869 - Quinjet JUST for Black Widow which is pretty silly.

All in all.. based on Toys R Us pricing here...

Captain America - RM80
Quinjet - RM 479

You'll get the whole Avengers Team + Loki + 3 Chitauri villains.

Only problem is they're not selling the Hulk set in stores here, heh.

most probably same reason why LEGO is unable to sell SW minifigs as stand alone. their SW license is for construction set. But I can see LEGO have been pretty sneaky in trying bundle SW figs in cheaper sets this year. Just look at the 1 fig + few dozen lego parts punya "tiny vehicle" + planet-container at nearly rm50 a pop. tongue.gif

If you have no plan to hurt your wallet, go for minifigs series and City theme.
Ninjago onwards is a bit hurting the wallet.
And license theme, if you want to put a hole in ur wallet. tongue.gif

I once visited 4 TRU in a day, even as far as Putrajaya. You should try Allamanda, easier to find over there, I found 3 Roman Soldiers in one visit there.

Minfigs price depends on the set. If the set cheap, the minifig also cheap.
