I think they just tweaking and recycling from older designs and re-release. Cos there is big market for minifig collector.
There is a trend of doing counterparts (punk guy, punk girl, tennis guy/gal) so you want to collect several miniseries.

I just hope they come out with characters that can blend in more easily to City (for city-themed figs) and not like the goddamn hippie that does not fit in any set.

True, true... but I kinda like the hippie. John Lennon... imagine if they ever made Yoko Ono!

Now I know the flower for the hippie is actually cannabis..lol

make a separate super heroes theme minifigs! dc, marvel, comic characters ... instead of making them available just on playsets

the hippie is old la wei. i tried to swap the hippie head with another specy minifig.. look weird.. look like girl...

anyway my most hated minifig is hippie, however my dotter plays with it often lol. she ignores anything with a weapon.

Good for you, bro orestes. But be careful of the bump codes. Different batches come with different sets of codes. I discovered it first hand. Thought I got Galaxy Patrol but got Evil Knight instead.

went tru mv, saw series5 minifig ... picit2 then was joined by a malay lady and her 2 sons. she got a cleopatra, her son was piciting series7.
was happy, i got to chat and got my boxer. now i need the clown, gangster and lizard man.
