QUOTE(rattan @ May 10 2012, 03:44 AM) I strongly recommend you to get unifi installed first so you can conceal the fiber cord. Anyway from your explaination I can say you are on a landed property and yr cabling is underground from the DP. Anyway that doesn't matter. I strongly recommend you lay 2 LAN cables to your AV room / TV area. Also plan where your router/BTU is going to be placed. Make sure you install extra power socket outlets in your living hall / TV area and your workstation area. Since you are going to do renovation, I also encourage you to pull a LAN cable to all your rooms for future proofing just incase wireless is not sufficient. Also remember, going wired is the best and most stable way. Just my 2 cent of input. Agreed. If your Unifi fiber cable is coming from U/G, FTB should be close to the telco pit inside your house. If you do not place BTU near the FTB, you might need to make a concealed conduit from FTB to BTU. Make sure the conduit is design so that Unifi contractor able to pull the white fiber thru it. You decide where to put the BTU and Router since it will determine how you'll wire your house. Router does not need to be close to BTU but you'll need to pull a Cat5e cable to hook them together if not at same place. BTU does not need to be close to phone port since you will get a cordless DECT phone but it would help if you want to place the phone somewhere else. For my case, I have FTB and BTU together inside my store room where the telco pit is located. The router is located in another room together with all my other network stuff. I have the DECT base unit in the store room as well near BTU and a DECT extension units each for living room downstairs and master bedroom upstairs. The DECT base placement is not ideal but my original phone line from the DP in the store room to phone port in other rooms are quite bad quality and noisy.

QUOTE(jtleon @ May 9 2012, 10:55 PM) dumb question about unifi setup at home, (mine is landed property) from the FFTH diagram, the FTB will be outside of our house. inside the house, we have BTU, modem, router....does our BTU/router have to be near to the phone port? my house is double storey....BTU location will be recommended by unifi technician? it is a new house, going to have renovation, need to start with wiring...should I start the uniti setup before renovation, so that my wiring works can be planned accordingly....i was thinking to have lan cable setup for rooms instead of using wireless (only in living room) Depends on your house itself, I guess. If its a simple single storey, then LAN isn't really necessary. WiFi N should be more than sufficient to do it for a single level. Also, do take not of the extra cabling cost too if your BTU is deep inside your house. PM sent.

Hi guys.. my speedtest result lately is very bad. Here's the history.. I'm on unifi 5Mbps package. The test was done from my android phone, using the speedtest apps. I wonder, is the result reliable? I can' tell because most of the time, i just do web browsing most of the time and occasionally, downloading stuff but the downloading seems fine. It can reach full speeds (via torrent & rapidshare). Eventhough most of the time it is just an internet browsing, i still want to get internet speed as promised because I also pay the same price whether I do heavy downloading of just internet browsing. QUOTE(JackCL @ May 9 2012, 10:46 PM) All UNIFI master, I got a question is it normal my upload speed as below? if it is not suppose to be any suggestion for me? Thanks Bro we are in the same boat, my VIP20 upload speed drop from 20mbps to below 10mbps. You can try call unifi service center to solve your problem. I don't have the desire to deal with those so call customer service representative so i leave it be right now .

Great, I'm being charged RM500 for the installation. I got a 'great' deal as the original price is supposed to be RM9xx. Why? The manhole cover in my house is blocked (with cement and tiles, they claimed). I could have asked my workers to open the cover easily and without breaking the tiles if they're around. Then, the over the ceiling cabling of about 1 meter. This is the second time the installers came. Last week another team of installers came but couldn't do the work as the manhole outside my house was flooded with water. Same attitude. They kept talking about non-standard installation and the charges. Can't TM have better contractors?
Oh by the way, they just opened the 'blocked' manhole cover within 5 mins, there goes my few hundreds bucks. The hourly rate is better than my office job.

Hello everyone. I experienced Unifi slowdown everyday after 7pm. Speed drops unders 1Mbps =/ Changed router to TL1043ND, it seems the problem still lies within Unifi.
Anyone has the same faith like me?

Bro thanks for sharing I called the unifi customer service and they said should use their own speed meter.... I tried it showed upload speed 9.xx mbps but the speedtest.net still showing 1.xx mbps.... Double standard the TM speedmeter looks not reliable and looks like their programmer done the hard code to show higher upload speed...
