Not exactly.. The community isn't big enough due to the rampant demand for pirated games.. I find it really hard to find net cafe (in Penang mainland) which got SC2 to play.. A bit depressing..

Mostly people are DOTArds. Team play is way much better than solo play. Starcraft 2 have to many thing to look after and build. Not all people are capable to do this so hence forth DOTA. Easy to play since you are looking at your hero and do not need much brain power to play.

After FXOpen has teamed with ST, things seem to be a little bit different with what our "investor" says earlier.
But still, even the smart one will choose to leave Malaysia, and focus on somewhere with better potential, this we call smart play, i believe FXOpen isn't dumb right? This post has been edited by kEazYc: Mar 28 2012, 08:58 PM |

Yes. Msia SC2 is never meant to be big in the first place. It is all about DOTA! DOTA! DOTA! DOTA!
That is why I am happy to see the investor or organizer focuses on better things instead of wasting money, time and energy. |

i haven't got time to play the multiplayer since i bought this game at launch date. Just be able to catch some free time to play single player. Last week I've finally starting to have time to play multiplayer online. but i'm very disappointed to realize that there's not much players online in SEA server.
How can I switch server? |

At the login menu, click the "region" and click " USA", and you are done. In order to make the "region" appears, click guest, and cancel, and now "region" is there. |

still thinks its not much related to FXO or anything but piracy and many have not try playing sc2 before or even heard of it, I think if there is a big public show and demo for the public the game will rise back, and the price is abit steep for malaysian as most of us are used to pirated dvd comparison to an original game the gap is too big for malaysians to accept it

QUOTE(kding2 @ Mar 30 2012, 07:15 PM) it's not about the prize money. it's about the amateurs not wanting to play competitively because of their mindset thinking that all the tournaments will be dominated by the same people. we have to think of a way to fix that and spotgamers and cyberfusion have come up with an idea of groupings in their league. currently, everyone is at Grade C. if we get more support, the pros will move to Grade B and the amateurs will come in at Grade C. hence, everyone is a winner! the thing we need now is more exposure! |

In fact, even I will force myself click the 1v1 ladder quick match for training. You honestly think so ? IF a 1k prize pool tourney , and the numbers who turn up is so low , I personally don't think that a 10k tourney is in place ,all the lower tier players or the people you mention would turn up. Instead i think the number of foreigners participating would be high . LoL Like the recent Spotgamers tourney , the number of foreigners that turn up for the open qualifier last Saturday , was almost equal to the Malaysians that participated. What am i trying to say is ,the amount of Malaysians that even bother participating is pathetic .About the prize pool, is RM 1k big to the foreigners ? honestly no . Barely covers their accommodation and transportation , and this is taking into account in the event where you get first place , but the foreigners still did come down and had fun and compete . Spotgamers even made it in a way where the top 16 gets rewarded , which is a good initiative by them , not to mention the lucky draws as well as freebies . The platform is there , with tournaments popping up here and there , but what we are lacking are the players . How hard is it to join a tournament , be it as a casual or a competitive player ? its like another platform to get to know other players as well as socializing, apart from competing . In short , no matter what the exposure is ,how big the tourneys are , if the community does not change their mindset like what radical mentioned , it would be futile as well . I don't mean any offence to anyone , nor is it targeted towards any individual , just my thoughts after the 2 days event at spotgamers . I still can't wait for the day where all the missing links would just turn up at a SC2 tourney , with a 64 player bracket |

I think what SC2 needed in Malaysia right now is exposure, and then people (like day9) to actually educate those player to have the correct mindsets.

US$60 is a lot of money for it given that I hear the campaign is too short. I've been waiting for price to fall, but since it's release date it never fell. If Blizzard really want to make money, they should try offering the title at 75% discount sale like Steam. I won't think twice if the game's only RM45, but RM180... The multiplayer is MASSIVE in features, from the thousands of minigames in customs (Star Battle is already enough to soak up all your time) to the always updating map pools of league games. |

Blizzard is not owned by Activision, they just did a merger. And like other players say, it's not about the "short" single player but the multi player experience that is the real deal!!!If Blizzard really want to make money, they should try offering the title at 75% discount sale like Steam. I would definitely participate in a tourney with minimal prize pool. Spotgamers is being more than generous imo. Top 16 is very achievable for the lower tier players and what not.
A lot of people don't understand that it takes participation for the prize pool to get bigger. Sponsors would hardly dip their pockets into a bad investment. The root of the problem here as silk said, is the mindset and perception towards joining tourneys! |

QUOTE(Sichiri @ Apr 4 2012, 11:19 AM) Typical Malaysian mentality, want diamonds, but will only pay peanuts. http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/profile/963155...ategory/3211287the US60$ is not just for the campaign (even that isn't THAT short, its still 10+ hours long I think) but for the Multiplayer feature. The multiplayer is MASSIVE in features, from the thousands of minigames in customs (Star Battle is already enough to soak up all your time) to the always updating map pools of league games. definitely shorter than 8 hours. lol. but yeah, multiplayer. Added on April 4, 2012, 8:16 pm QUOTE(r4dic4l @ Apr 4 2012, 04:43 PM) In case you didn't know, the price dropped significantly and you can get a lot of good deals online. Blizzard is not owned by Activision, they just did a merger. And like other players say, it's not about the "short" single player but the multi player experience that is the real deal!!! vivendi universal did the merger, they are the publisher of blizzard entertainment. VU + activision = activision blizzard (riding on the blizzard name, due to their huge success over WoW)This post has been edited by Quazacolt: Apr 4 2012, 08:16 PM |

Sad to see this post. Payouts have never been better. Yet everyone thinks that "Oh 180 expensive wei. I play DOTA better". FYI there aren't very many teams that take part in tournaments in DOTA as well and only the best teams ever get paid. How many times has a 4th place finisher gotten paid in such an event in Malaysia? Don't forget you're intending to split the prize money with your teammates. And unless you can find a kia su team you aren't going far since everyone has to improve together. Your skill in SC2 is all up to how much you put into it. Can't learn? Watch Day9 man. Even i do. Honestly, the infrastructure is there. It's just that Malaysians aren't willing to put in the extra effort cuz well "It's too hard la. That race IMBA"! Well if you don't work hard you don't get what you want. It's as simple as that.
Anyway guys, please enter the up coming tournaments. Spotgamers were kind enough to offer the Top 16 a minimum of RM75. Guess what there were only 17 participants. As a player i feel bad for them since it's almost free money. It's supposed to encourage players to join but i was dissapointer at the turnout. This kind of payout, as opposed to large pool top 3 takes all is way better since variance is so much lower. Tournament of 64 players? Just win 2 rounds and you've made 6 times your entry fee. Not to mention the fact that the higher the prize pool, the higher the number of international players that will join. You don't have to be awesome like Cobo and take 1st place to make money anymore. But you gotta at least be on par with the crowd. |

QUOTE(Mansamune @ Apr 4 2012, 05:09 PM) I would definitely participate in a tourney with minimal prize pool. Spotgamers is being more than generous imo. Top 16 is very achievable for the lower tier players and what not. i think most of us were nt aware of the sportsgamer recent event as well else u'll see higher turnout.A lot of people don't understand that it takes participation for the prize pool to get bigger. Sponsors would hardly dip their pockets into a bad investment. The root of the problem here as silk said, is the mindset and perception towards joining tourneys! |

Don't get me wrong , im not pointing fingers at anyone , but what im trying to say , alot of Malaysian sc2 players do frequent lowyat.net for guides /updates/tourneys etc, so i believe they have access to such Information |

Diablo 3 come out next month wander how many will still play sc2 ? some intro QUOTE Blizzard have introduced a rather brutal league-system that directly connects your identity and ego with a league. This is probably part of the cause of the ladder anxiety phenomenon in SC2. Another factor is SC2’s focus on 1v1s, which is by far the most emotionally intense form of competition (eliminated in LoL/Dota/CS/etc by focusing on team play), and much of the reason why SC2 has relatively few casual gamers. Reducing ladder (and tournament) anxiety in general is the main focus of this article. It also touches on related subjects; getting demoted and general lack of enjoyment with the game due to performance pressure. The approach below is based on affect research and the cognitive-behavioral approach. First is a detailed scientific discussion aimed at those with high ladder/tournament anxiety, who have simply stopped playing - and at the bottom is a TL;DR for everyone. There will be tips to improve, but the main goal of this article is to A) decrease irrational anxiety and B) increase real enjoyment. Off we go! |

Hope Heart of the Swarm is cheaper. Cannot afford to pay RM180 second time in such short period -.-
Sumore, as I predicted, quite short. Already reach 17 of 26 missions, and I only bought the game last week! This post has been edited by RAMChYLD: May 22 2012, 09:50 AM |

Otherwise I'll just play base game for a while.Or hopefully, they let you have HotS first 6 campaign free like the base game. Then I can buy the expansion once I'm ready to pay for it. QUOTE(RAMChYLD @ May 22 2012, 12:48 PM) Well, tried to connect 1v1 practice league, but no players nobody play practice league nowadays. Go straight to 'Find Match'. For beginner, NA server is the easiest server to play.Hopefully. Otherwise I'll just play base game for a while. Expect losses though, level of SC skill is higher compare to the other game. Example like me, playing Diablo for 1 week then comeback to SC, get totally owned. I cannot imagine how I'm gonna compete with others again in battle net if I'm going for months-long holiday |

Last time go play SC:BW during college years, keep getting pwned by classmates. |

QUOTE(dino lim @ May 24 2012, 02:09 AM) Just get the starter kit from Blizzard (see other thread), and then sign up for a free Battle.Net account. That will give you the ability to play the first five campaign missions free. Then, when you're satisfied, just buy a game key from Blizzard's Battle.Net store to unlock full game, no re-download needed. If you need DVD (the free download uses legal torrent, you're screwed if you're on Jaring BB, Digi Discover Day or Screamyx), get in contact with Djinn, he's the boss of the Gamers Hideout stores which is selling the game cheaper than other stores. Thinking about it tho, I'm wondering why Blizzard don't just give the CD away for free and make you buy a RM180 game card with the key instead? After all, you can borrow the CD and install it (the CD installer is exactly the same one as Blizzard put on download), and it will let you play the first 5 missions for free without a key... And SC2 is a "competitve game" (GSL,IPL etc) and most player oso quit because of ladder pressure. That's was wat I was trying to point out. In the end, It is still ur personal opinion, on the other hand SC 2' PvP is my personal enjoyment. XOXO |

I reach D3 Hell, nothing to push me to continue the game from here on-wards. "Join a party, kitting, cast spell and change gear" is all I need to do. Nothing excited me anymore in D3. (I doubt D3 PvP fun sustainability anyway) RM175 for 2wks. While my SC2 RM200 never failed to excite me for almost 2 years now. But the ladder 1v1 is what keep all the player playing the games now. My friends who only play team games have quit-ed SC2 ages ago. Some might complain bout the lack of interactive in bnet while some on the extremely broken game (I'm referring to Protoss) but it is still the best adrenaline pumping game after BW. Just ignore the MU that I don't like by going all-in vs P and play the macro games with T and Z sora88, is that your ID in SC? |

I'm giving up on Multiplayer. These people surely cheating.
How can they amass so much resources in so short time. Mine keeps saying need more minerals. They already come attack with banshees... Just no way. You start with only 50 minerals and 5 SCVs. I have to keep pumping SCV until I have one for each mineral. Then I have to pump money into supply depots, which is 100 minerals each Then by the time I have two supply depots, I can only start building a barrack. By that time opponent already has banshees. This is not logical. This post has been edited by RAMChYLD: May 30 2012, 05:00 PM |

And then of course there's just players that are griefers i.e. purposely send their scv to grief you right at the start of the game.I'm still working out how to report griefers to Actiblizz. Most likely they won't care anyway... |

You know what? I think I want to give up already. I play multiplayer, all the other players are unprofessional, even going as far as sabotaging their own allies, calling new players names, and when I do them a favor by walling off the exit and give them control, they tell me to go die, and then send my SCV to attack own base.
I have a depression problem to deal with already. I don't need to deal with these kinds of a-holes to ruin my life further. |

QUOTE(RAMChYLD @ Jul 6 2012, 12:28 PM) You know what? I think I want to give up already. I play multiplayer, all the other players are unprofessional, even going as far as sabotaging their own allies, calling new players names, and when I do them a favor by walling off the exit and give them control, they tell me to go die, and then send my SCV to attack own base. I'm guessing you play in SEA region? I have a depression problem to deal with already. I don't need to deal with these kinds of a-holes to ruin my life further. QUOTE(The Amateur Working Bee @ Jul 6 2012, 02:59 PM) NA Region. Bought game wrongly, now stuck at NA only. Now I'm asking if Blizzard can switch my account to SEA. If cannot, then maybe I'll stop playing until HotS come out. Otoh, I just had another game. Definitely much better this time around, although to avoid the issue I immediately launch my Command Center and move it out of their way. Still lose in the end tho. Delay from moving the CC give enemy more time to build up... This post has been edited by RAMChYLD: Jul 6 2012, 03:26 PM |

QUOTE(stimCocain @ Mar 28 2012, 01:05 AM) Blizz marketing strat is the cause if its dying. most ppl play SC2 are SC1 fans and they port over to SC2learning curve for SC2 is too hard for newbie, even if they play terran only. this is because no more campaign for toss and zerg. campaign basically serve as a tutorial where in each mission, a new unit/situation is introduced and they teach u the best way to use that unit/overcome the situation. but in sc2 u only get terran campaign. for toss and zerg need to fight with AI/players to learn all the unit str and weakness. i know there is online info about all the unit but reading/watching it online is just not as effective as playing it first hand just my 2c |

Used to play at SEA then then it took too damn long me and my sc team started playing on NA.On unifi with no lag.
Came across my first true ******* teammate. He'd attack his teammates if he's not happy with them. I promptly left. The only regret I have is not turning my units against his. |

I think we should all stick to SEA server and think positive, if we always think Malaysia's Starcraft 2 scene is going to die, eventually it'll die off. We need a "revival". That's how I feel about it, correct me if I say anything wrong.
