QUOTE(kaizer @ Apr 10 2012, 12:08 PM) I think the more appropriate question would be why SC Superlight? LOL... It's a single pivot 4" bike. It's cheaper maintainence no doubt with just a pair of large bearings, but how's the ride quality compared to those newer multi linked bikes? Bobbing issues? Bike shops objective is to sell in order to make profit. Don't fall into the trap. I'm not saying 29er is inferior or superior to 26er. Try it or atlest do some research online on the feedbacks. Based on the geo charts, the 29er SCSL will be slightly more stable on speed due to the big wheel and longer wheelbase. The bad part is a longer wheelbase will also be harder to manuvere on tight trails and less flickable with a longer CS. You may think you're an XC rider and don't put much concern on flickability, but what makes a ride fun is to be able to make the bike do what you want with urgency, not driving a trailer kinda slow response, rite? The BB is higher on the 29er SCSL though. Good thing about higher BB is less pedal strikes on tech terrains, but on the expense of cornering stability. I find it funny that the geo charts in SC website states both 29er and 26er's A2C length is the same at 470mm. It's common A2C length of 470mm for a 26er with 100mm travel unsagged. But a 29er 100mm fork should be longer. A 470mm unsagged A2C length is typical of a 80mm travel 29er fork. Maybe you could send an email to SC and clarify that matter? AM bike will be hard for me to climb as i tested my friend bike...maybe in the future when i got the stamina to climb with AM bike. If you got a better alternative, can post here to share..will go have a test ride when free. So AM and DH is totally out ...therefore Im guessing you ll want a XC/Trail bike ...(dont take my word for it ...do your own research ..you wont regret it)AM bike will be hard for me to climb as i tested my friend bike...maybe in the future when i got the stamina to climb with AM bike. If you got a better alternative, can post here to share..will go have a test ride when free. bicycle stuff is really sickening... very True.... Just a suggestion, I would consider these bikes: 1. SC Blur LT 2. Giant Trance 3. Trek Fuel Ex8 4. Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Last but not least 5. ASR5 of course hehehe You ll probably be able to build the bike at around 12KG or even 11KG ...making it easy to climb and dream going down... |

IMHO, and after seeing some of these lembu riding those bikes,...I would recommend Trance-26er (Price vs. Peformance vs. Functionality). You can notice how well it helps you to climb. But the bike is NOT rare...*True Story* This post has been edited by RayKazansky: Apr 10 2012, 04:33 PM |

quit bothering on what to get and what others have. all you need is what you need for the job. know where you wanna ride, but dun know which to get? just go to the shop and ask them what they recommend. if you find that they're trying to sell you crap then you probably already have something in mind. just get what u have in mind, you're lucky if you get the perfect bike in your first purchase either way. don't know where to ride, and no idea what to get. Just choose within your budget and try it out. light, durable, cheap .. google |

Just choose within your budget and try it out. light, durable, cheap .. google To me the more expansive the purchase the more I research and I ll only buy when I am 100% sure ...just to share ..I researched almost a year before I changed to my new bike ...( was also the time to wait for my Vitamin M to kick in hehehe) For myself ...I dont claim to be an expert ..but just sharing experience so everyone here can enjoy biking and spend wisely ... Every good rider started as a newbie ...today they re new... down the line they ll probably be better riders Sharing is caring ... Caring is gay hahahah .... |

Nothing wrong with gay pant. As long as it is comfortable and most importantly letting the rider ride faster!
