QUOTE(Cyphereza @ Apr 9 2012, 09:58 PM) Why can't you find a conclusion for it? I think it depends on you. What you want. Cause Santa Cruz 29er only arrive in Malaysia end of this april. I worry I get 26er, later in the future everybody using 29er. Not so rich to upgrade again. You tested 29er?I'm just choosing 29er coz I've tried 26 and haven't try 29. |

QUOTE(kaizer @ Apr 10 2012, 12:08 PM) I think the more appropriate question would be why SC Superlight? LOL... It's a single pivot 4" bike. It's cheaper maintainence no doubt with just a pair of large bearings, but how's the ride quality compared to those newer multi linked bikes? Bobbing issues? Bike shops objective is to sell in order to make profit. Don't fall into the trap. I'm not saying 29er is inferior or superior to 26er. Try it or atlest do some research online on the feedbacks. Based on the geo charts, the 29er SCSL will be slightly more stable on speed due to the big wheel and longer wheelbase. The bad part is a longer wheelbase will also be harder to manuvere on tight trails and less flickable with a longer CS. You may think you're an XC rider and don't put much concern on flickability, but what makes a ride fun is to be able to make the bike do what you want with urgency, not driving a trailer kinda slow response, rite? The BB is higher on the 29er SCSL though. Good thing about higher BB is less pedal strikes on tech terrains, but on the expense of cornering stability. I find it funny that the geo charts in SC website states both 29er and 26er's A2C length is the same at 470mm. It's common A2C length of 470mm for a 26er with 100mm travel unsagged. But a 29er 100mm fork should be longer. A 470mm unsagged A2C length is typical of a 80mm travel 29er fork. Maybe you could send an email to SC and clarify that matter? AM bike will be hard for me to climb as i tested my friend bike...maybe in the future when i got the stamina to climb with AM bike. If you got a better alternative, can post here to share..will go have a test ride when free. QUOTE(Cyphereza @ Apr 10 2012, 02:21 PM) I hope after glamour has make his decision on 26 or 29, he doesn't have the should I get a 4" or 5" or 6" or 7" or 8" or 9" or 10"? problem bicycle stuff is really sickening... QUOTE(majorsinbad @ Apr 10 2012, 02:52 PM) or Rigid, 80", 100", 120", 140", 160" ....1.9, 2.0, 2.1, 2.25....50mm,60mm,70mm.... very True.... Hahahah...just joking la dude ...you know what they say ... "Men socialize by insulting each other, but they don't really mean it. Women socialize by complimenting each other, and they don't really mean it .." So tomorrow anyone riding? Lets play commando and try ambushing those trail wreckers ...heheheh |

QUOTE(majorsinbad @ Apr 10 2012, 03:48 PM) So AM and DH is totally out ...therefore Im guessing you ll want a XC/Trail bike ...(dont take my word for it ...do your own research ..you wont regret it) Thanks for the info bro. Apprecited it. Just a suggestion, I would consider these bikes: 1. SC Blur LT 2. Giant Trance 3. Trek Fuel Ex8 4. Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Last but not least 5. ASR5 of course hehehe You ll probably be able to build the bike at around 12KG or even 11KG ...making it easy to climb and dream going down... I might consider trek Fuel Ex Why you choose Santa Cruz Blur instead of Superlight? Hope this weekend can go test Trek |

QUOTE(snapshots @ Apr 11 2012, 11:04 AM) where do you ride? are you brand concious? on a budget? superlight is not going to cut it. trance is about one of the best bikes you can get out there. if not go for sclt for the vpp linkage. On week days. I ride on road and a bit off road. Mostly is climb and downhill. Oil palm estate. 26 / 29er almost same.29er rolls better. that is just about it on a 29er. 2012 Trailbike shootout in the process Weekends. Mostly off road. Alot of climbing. Downhill with lotsa root and rock. Quite technical track. But not much jump and drop. I need a bike that can climb. That is why I thinking of getting SC SL. Because in order to go down fast. I need to climb the hill too. My current group set is shimano XT 2010. 9speed Fox float. Fuji frame Wish to maintain my group set and fox. Frame upgrade This post has been edited by glamour: Apr 11 2012, 02:40 PM |

QUOTE(Broadica @ Apr 11 2012, 03:19 PM) sound interesting, where do you ride? I'm Penang mainland. Everyday Tuesday and Thursday after work. Me and friends will meet up for ride. A lil bit on road and off road. Climb alot and down too. Saturday is the best. We ride on day time on bukit mertajam hill. I like Santa Cruz brand. Look humble the bike. Haha. Not much fancy fancy sticker around. But if I choose Blur. I guess my Fox float not able to transfer. SC SL frame rm 3500. Can transfer everything from my old Fuji Tahoe bike. Maybe a wait awhile to forge out more budget. But gotta test ride first. What bike you riding bro?imo, SL with single pivot is not a good climber. u need to depend on pedal platform like fox propedal to help reduce pedal bob. if you like SC as a brand, you should get their VPP suspension frame like SC blur series. VPP are what SC known for.. otherwise is just a waste. you should seriously consider giant bikes, they are good.. maestro suspension also a form of floating pivot work like magic and value for money. these bikes can climb very well without switching propedal. |

Easy. you from penang also? wish we have a good track to ride like Kiara in Penang... brand i like santa cruz the most...then Trek, Scott, Specialized Look not much care seriously... just don't wanna get the wrong bike....so just sharing with you all dear LYN.... |
