Added on May 15, 2012, 4:01 pm sometimes DIY is not just to cut cost, like me, i DIY alot (not just aquarium stuffs) because 1. it is fun, 2. because i like to DIY (i come from the generation where we watch MacGyver on TV n aspire to become like him when we grow up [/quote] +1 agree DIY cannot be determined by value. the experience and interest part is the best! |

QUOTE(melodyworm @ May 15 2012, 04:51 PM) guys... forget about diy chiller... look what i had just achieved with my DIY fan... i will let my picture tell the rest of my story... sometimes this kind of thermometer is a bit wacky...i got one similar to urs, mine turns out to be 1 deg lower than actual temp (explains why my temp never goes above 26 deg C, even during hot day)... found it out after i 'borrow' lab thermometer from my uni just to calibrate the thermometer... of coz i returned back the 'borrowed' thermometer [attachmentid=2842100] but if ur thermometer is indeed accurate, then kudos to u... |

So is our DIY chiller topic of the day died down already?
My aquarium is growing fade brown spots by the glass.. What is the cause of this? And what are the ways you remove them? I know I can use a cloth to wipe them from the inside, but a tsunami will play along.. |

QUOTE(LuQEE @ May 15 2012, 12:27 AM) still looking for your suitable filter? eheim classic 2211 is ok ... Hey, I have posted the pictures already. You only didn't see them. Hmph. you still havent post ure newts latest tank in the newt thread Did you take the salamanders home? QUOTE(Malformed @ May 15 2012, 03:27 PM) I think sang gemok meant something like this. Everyone's into DIY chillers now » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « http://www.3reef.com/forums/i-made/diy-chiller-42547.html I'd like to learn more too. I like DIY-ing things. And that chiller (fridge), how did they drill a hole into it? I was thinking of doing this before, but my dad said "Don't be stupid." I am persisting on being stupid because a second hand chiller (fridge) is a lot cheaper than a second hand aquarium chiller. Plus, I could move the frozen blood worms out of my mom's freezer. Do you use aquarium sealant to seal the tubings in place so as not to let the cold air from the fridge escape? Is there a more detailed diagram of how it is done? |

ok... todays discussion:
i have already set up my planted tank 1 1/2 half week ago but i did not include tourmaline BC in my tank. i included the other 4 elements which is bacter100, penac w, penac p and also clear super but did not add in tourmaline just for experiments sake. tourmaline is said to help growth of roots and now the experiment had been proved that my plants really did have slow growth rate. question: can i add in the tourmaline bc now into the water or does it have to be under the soil? XD |
