How about using aluminium profile ? Probably cheaper and more rigid and stable.

There is many china bearing in local. There are cheap. For slow moving speed, it should be alright to use. How small the bearing require on 3d printer? Less than 10mm diameter? Some Japan brand bearing like NSK should be cheap.

The black cap screw are not easily rust. It been treat with chemical to resistance better on rust. That's why it black. Using indoor is no problem at all. Cheaper too.

You can galvanized the screw you want or chrome it. But will cost few cent more. Comeback collect later. Most of the shop can do it.

SS screw mainly for use on corrode environment. SS are more soft and less strength. Expensive also. Avoid to use if possible.

You can make aluminium body. but the contact i gave don't supply aluminium sheet. they said you have to bring your own aluminium sheet.

Most of my black cap screw are some what starting to rust.

I mean Aluminium profile. Not aluminium sheet. Aluminium sheet is very expensive and not strong compare to metal.

Aluminium profile is an extrude profile in square structure form. It mainly use for machine structure, table etc for cheaper cost. smile.gif

If I told you this black screw (actual name is blackening screw) is already more than 10yrs old, do you believe ? The metal parts is also thread with blackening and only slightly rust.

This parts is stay in indoor.

P3steel cutting service and 3mm steel cost = rm250(email quoted on jan 2014),rm200(walk in around June 2015).
U can see how much steel price have drop. Bring .dxf file with u.

Additional advice.
1. Bearings in Malaysia is very expensive especially those small bearing.its cheaper to get from china and replace as they wear.
2. Screw and nuts.Shops that I visit call Hex screw as capped screw. There's 3 type of screw and nuts. Steel(refer to black) which will rust. Galvanised steel(white) will not rust but not available for all size/length. Stainless steel have all size, but some size can be very expensive like m3 50mm is double the price of m3 40mm.

Better make the order before the price goes up further. I don't see any difference with walk in unless you request for samples.

Regardless which method, they still need you to pay first. You can try your luck by walking in and ask for a quote. If it's more expensive, bring up the email quote.if lesser, just shut up.

And u can try to say last time your friend did the same design for rm200++. See what they say.

It take 1 or 2 working days to ready.

I have contacted super press spring. They make all kind of springs on demand. @Altan gave me some spring last time. Using that as sample, I plan to ask them to make more.

I'll drop by tomorrow with a sample to get a quote. I was told it gets cheaper with volume. Anyone interested to share?

Need a sample to make the springs or can give the spec?

When I hear volume discount, normally they expect 1000 pcs or more.

Maybe you can find that box set of random sized springs instead.

Also let us know the quote for those springs.

Sample or spec will do. But its easier for me to give sample. They told me minimum is 1. So I probably ask to quote for 100 or 250.see how much different it is.

Happy New Year and my very first failed print! rclxub.gif

40 hour print failed because my 1 year + PLA printed Z-Axiz coupler decided to fail on me. doh.gif

Drillz of the prehistoric human child skull a client ask me to print... A real waste.
