how bout HSBC atm card, shd able to withdraw rite.
if i withdraw frm hsbc sg, it doesnt have extra charges, juz currency rate only rite.

and if use my hsbc atm card withdraw at sg any local bank, shd have at least rm10 n above charges, rite.
*
There will still be some foreign exchange fee with ATM/Debit/Credit card.

As for cash withdrawal fee (per usage), please call HSBC CS or refer to their website for further info.

Like I said, use your MBB Petronas Credit Card because it has on of the lowest conversion fee for Malaysia issued credit cards.

I used to have the MBB Petronas, click on below links to see my article on overseas transactions and you'll note MBB Petronas exchange rate was the lowest when comparing to my other credit cards.

Overses Transactions - What Card Is The Best? Part II comparing transactions in Singapore.
Overseas Transactions - What Card Is The Best? comparing transactions in Singapore.
Overseas Transaction - which CC to use? HSBC rate was among the highest for US and SG transactions.

Tell you what, you go do cash withdrawal with your HSBC ATM card and also pay with your MBB Petronas Card and then report here back the exchange rate comparison please.

I was charged two times for a transaction. First swipe failed but it went through anyway, so no slip. After receiving 2 sms alerts, I confirmed the double charge with SCB SC and CL deduction from online banking. The SC said this is between me and the merchant. Is this correct?

The merchant claimed there is no record of double charge after doing the 'closing' of credit card accounts and will have to check with the e-pay vendor for full record. This may take several days.

*
If the merchant can rectify for you then no problems. If the merchant refuse to rectify it, you can lodge a dispute with the card issuer and let them take the necessary actions.

Once I bought a Jet Star ticket and somehow it showed that my booking did not go thru. So made another booking. Then my statement came and got doubled charged. Call MBB and they said to check with Jet Star and see if they can rectify on their side first. So called Jet Star and initially it showed there was no double charged based on reservation number but after further checking, Jet Star confirmed I was charged for the failed booking and reverse the transaction.

Anyone using this? Is it worth to take this card since I always pump at Esso @ Petron  icon_question.gif
*
Depends, if you cannot qualify for credit cards like MilesAndMore mentioned, then yes. Or, maybe your petrol usage is low, like RM100 or less, then maybe this PB Esso Debit card can be even better than credit card offering 5% cash back after considering RM50 GST.

I have question about MBF credit card, as im going to travel to melbourne on october. Can MBF bank credit card be use on oversea? (i am not the owner,is that my parents sub another card for me from his MBF bank account)
*
Many many years ago, in the 90's, MBf used to have a card just for local use targeted at those unable to qualify for Classic credit cards. Nowadays, they no longer issue such cards I suppose. You should not have any problems using your MBf supp card overseas but it is a good practice to let the card issue know the duration you are there (call CS and inform them). One more thing, when you are asked or need to select credit or debit, choose credit.

i just feel weird why they sent me an invitation and then regret @@
*
yah, you'll regret big time because for PBB cards, you need to be a big spender to benefit from their Tiered Cash Back system. If you spend less than RM2K per month, you will need to spend RM16,666.67 (see the number, hahaha) in a year just to cover RM50 GST. Those of us with MBB 2 Cards who spent RM16,666/year with the AMEX would earned 83,333 Treats Points where we can redeem up to RM400 in cash vouchers and even up to RM600 in cash back (if we were to spend RM1K/month on Saturday and Sunday), totaling RM1K in returns thumbup.gif

Having said that, go check out PBB credit card Promotions and see if you can benefit from the discount offered at selected merchants.

you can but you still got to pay RM50 GST unless it's a debit card. What you should do is try to cancel your application if you really do not want the card. Once it's approved and in the system, troublesome.

MasterCard Worldwide actually operates a lounge at KLIA Satellite Terminal ? This is news to me. I guess it's a new lounge ?

By the way, HSBC gives their HSBC Premier World MasterCard and HSBC VISA Signature cardholders an additional 10% off on top of the usual HSBC rewards points when shopping at some of the airside shops (KLIA)   biggrin.gif

Me too did not even know about MasterCard Lounge until ronnie mentioned it at Airport Thread.

Bro, the second paragraph caught my attention. do I get 10% discount for fags at Eraman?

Not sure about Eraman but I've got the discount before when buying magazines (the small magazine kiosk located on the left when coming down from the escalator). You'll also get the discount when buying chocolates and perfumes there. I think it's called Flying Emporium. I'm not sure if it's the same as Eraman.
*
Bro, it's discount right, not cash back. Anyway, I must go check it out. Thanks.

i've been told by a friend not to put my savings into the same bank account as my credit card, as there is a risk that scammers can access it when they have access to your credit card/or if your credit card gets stolen and abused, the bank will auto-deduct from your bank account.

is it true at all or is it just a myth? thinking of transferring money every month from the bank account i get my salary from(Rhb) to my credit card's(Maybank).
*
There is always a risk when you have online account, that's why nowadays the better security feature is one that sends you a OTP before you can do any transaction with your online account. If your phone also got stolen, too bad.

As for auto deduct - I don't think the bank will do it for fraud cases BUT if you fail to pay your credit card bills or have outstanding balances and can't pay the minimum 5%, yes, they will deduct from your banking account and it is mentioned in the T&C.

Bro, if it is clearly a fraud case, we don't really have to worry since our maximum liability is RM250. However, if it due to one's negligence, like reporting they lost their credit card "late", then it is subjective.

at risk of offending a dear MODERATOR, I would like to ask, especially since he's From: 서울, South Korea, "DO U EVEN STAY IN MALAYSIA? DO U HAVE LAYMEN FRIENDS? all your posts sound like u live in a perfect world, living by the laws and standards but the real world is NOT that straightforward."

So I hold a card from XXX Bank, does that rob me of the right to have doubts and ask questions? I DON'T SEE THIS AS BEING HYPROCRITICAL.
*
Bro, we are here for discussion to benefit each other, why you want to insult others? The first paragraph clearly shows your intention.

And you very senso lah, you make "fun" of me with your sarcastic remarks using "colorful" words and calling me names like unker; but, I get your point and therefore I can understand where you coming from. But when others comment your reply/post, you become defensive instead of elaborating on your thoughts, haha.

For your information, Bro hye has been contributing to credit cards matters at Pinned Credit Card Thread for years prior to this section being created. I have learned a lot from him. His posts are direct and if you read carefully, he is not really attacking you but makin a point.

Everyone has their own style of writing, hye's posts are direct whereas yours is more relax style as if talking to a buddy. By the way, I like your style of writing too, using words like "rob", as if a gun is pointed at you, to make a point. tongue.gif

uhm i want ask har..

i just got 2 credit cards from maybank recently and im thinking of using it to buy stuff with it la.. then there's this 0% interest rate installment but im not that sure about it

can someone kindly explain it to me ?

0% means what ?

if lets say 1 month need pay RM100 will the bank charge me the interest rate ?

thanks
*
QUOTE(mengfart @ Sep 25 2012, 12:19 PM)
so its not advisable to buy stuff using instalment plans ?
*
For Maybank 0% Ezy Pay, the amount you need to repay monthly is the purchase price divided by the duration (6, 12 or 24 months) you selected for the plan.

Example, you want to buy an item costing RM1800 and you go with 0% 12 month Ezy Pay scheme.

The the amount you need to pay is RM1800/12months = RM150 per month.

If you only pay RM100/month, then you would not have settled the Outstanding Balance in full and therefore you shall be imposed interest charges. Always settle Outstanding Balances as stated in your Monthly Statement prior to the Due Date to avoid any interest charges. Since you just got the card, you will get the statement soon and you will then understand what I meant by Outstanding Balance and Due Date.

Bro, it is not advisable to go with installement plan if you don't have any savings on hand. And if you go and purchase an item with installment plan when you don't have the money on hand, it simply means you are living beyond your means or as I put it, Pay Now Earn Later (i.e. you are in debt).
