*
Bro, seriously no difference you pay this month or next month because it is still a debt. The fact still remains you spending money.

If i do have several credit cards with several CL, my commitment from the view of other banks will be base on the total of my overall CL for those cards or only the amount that i've utilized from it?
*
should be total CL

Does this mean having more cards does not reflect well when applying for house/car loan even with good payment record as they see it as high commitment?
*
It may if your CL is really high. Long ago a senior here mentioned he had to decrease one of his credit card CL to RM1K just to get his loan approved.

Anyway, don't worry about it unless you are told to do so.

I'm planning a family trip (4 people) to travel to US next year.

Would like to know which card I can get the most benefit/discount when I purchase the flight ticket? I'm currently using Amex2 Platinum and Stan Chart Plat.
Thanks in advance.
*
AMEX2 Plat since it earns you 5X Treats Points. As for SCB, and think you use the MBB 2 Visa or MC and earn 1X TP even better than SCB reward redemption program.

Do you think I should get an Air Mile card? Sorry because dumb question. This is my first oversea flight. smile.gif
*
Get it for your entire family. it's FREE and got nothing to loose.

Even if flying with AA, get the Big Shot account. Now remember this, make sure for each individual use a different email account when signing up, e.g.. your wife and children as each individual will have their own account (for whichever airline).

Anwyay minto, I am sure you and your family will be flying to more places in the future and I recommend you read my articles below that are related to credit card and air miles.

My son is going to USA Again on Business Class. In this article you will note that MBB 2 AMEX TP conversion to Enrich Miles is actually pretty good.

New Toshiba i5 for RM999 and Enrich Redemption. In this article I showed that converting to airmiles may not necessary optimized your return especially if you fly AA where we can sometimes get really cheap tickets during off peak periods or when MAS is having a sale.

QUOTE(Duckies @ Oct 8 2013, 10:15 AM)
Hi guys I got a few questions here...it's simple questions but I m new to credit card haha

1. Let's say my bill comes on 3rd this month. The due date will be on 23rd Oct. I made full payment on 8th. So if i use my credit card now..my due date will  be 23rd this month or next month?

2. Let's say I bought RM 1000 stuff. I paid 500 first month. So is the interest counted as below? The outstanding/left balance would be 500 as well

500 * (15/12)% = ?

So the amount I need to pay the next month will be the above interest plus the 500. Correct?
*
1. The thing to note is your have to pay in full the amount stated in your Statement issued on Statement Date prior to the Due Date to avoid interest being charged.

2. Yes and No. Some cards will charge you interest for the RM1K from the day of the transaction because you have utilized the credit limit and failed to make full payment. You may also be imposed interest charges on new transaction too.

TO ALL:

Yesterday I read a report about people getting into financial difficulties and that BNM in collaboration with the Education Ministry will introduced financial education to Year 3 students next year and secondary schools in 2017.

So I inked my thoughts and came out with an article titled Avoid The debt Hole by Getting FREE Financial Education From Me (click here to read it).

The above said article covers numerous subjects relating to credit cards, credit card newbies should take my FREE Credit Card Tuition to avoid being tricked into the debt hole and also how Citibank increased my credit limit without my consent to entice me to sign up for their loan products.

But what if I could not make full payment? Oh mine is public bank gold card. Not sure they charge interest on outstanding balance or on the moment of transaction itself
*
Bro, if you can pay before 23rd October 2013 in full, you won't be charged a single sen in interest.

Now, if you can only pay RM500, it is a good thing that the amount of debt (Outstanding Balance) you have in your card is not that much (i.e. RM500); and, as such the interest is kind of negligible for a month (less than RM15). Just don't use your credit card again until you can settle in full before the next Due Date on 23 November or even earlier to avoid more interest being imposed (make sure you include the interest charges when paying or simply add extra RM20 if you do not want to waste time calculating the interest up to the day you make payment).

And do read my article Avoid The Debt Hole By Getting FREE Financial Tuition From Me where I once again have a reminder that only use your credit card if you have money to settle in full prior to the Due Date. This is the only principle you need to practice and never break it, not even once, because if you break it once, there is nothing to prevent you from repeating it and eventually you will end up in the shit hole of debt.

Wow good explaination there! Erm what do u mean by
Okay let's say on 10th Oct I bought something for RM 1000 n I don't have any outstanding balance from previous months. So on 3rd Nov the bill comes so I paid partial payment like RM 400. So I'm left with RM 600 which will be carried to 3rd Dec..so on 3rd Dec when the bill comes the interest will be charged upon my outstanding balance which is RM 600 right? The interest will be 1.0125 * 600 right?
*
Bro, most of us here don't really know how interest is calculated because most of us who share our credit card experience here do not have to worry about working for the banks because we practice the principle below (once again repeated to enforce this principle into your head, haha):

only use your credit card if you have money to settle in full prior to the Due Date. This is the only principle you need to practice and never break it, not even once, because if you break it once, there is nothing to prevent you from repeating it and eventually you will end up in the shit hole of debt.

So for your case, if you have not make the purchase, just save the money until you have RM1K in the bank to pay your credit card bill in full instead of you worrying making the banks richer.

And as for RM15 being negligible...... well, that is about how much I burn a day on cigarettes, hahahaha

Yea. Thanks everyone. I will try not to spend with credit card if I am not able to make full payment on the due date itself laugh.gif But then I really want a new monitor and speaker now XD
*
Bro, I got a solution for you, first buy the monitor and then after 1 month only get the speakers, or the other way round if you got not enough money for the monitor now tongue.gif By the way, speakers are not that expensive, so what monitor you getting that you cost you close to RM1K?

I have Standard Chartered World Miles card. When I first got it, the staff said annual fee and tax can be waived, every year. I just need to give them a quick call. I have been using it for 3 months. Don't know if it is really true. So far, no need to pay any annual or tax.
*
I did do a mini review of the SCB WorldMiles MC and other cards in my article titled My Son Is Going To The USA on Business Class Again in regards to Enrich Miles conversion. In this said article I pointed out that there is conflicting statement in SCB T&C. It is stated that annual fee is waived for first year but it also says that you agree to monthly fees once you sent them your Big Shot ID. And for your info the SCB WorldMiles MC does not have annual fee BUT monthly fee of RM15!!! So I guess the CS correct to say no annual fees, hahahaha

I shall be publishing my third annual Credit Card Ultimate Showdown soon. And in order to have a complete and fair evaluation of credit cards in the market, I had to go do some research on new credit cards that were not reviewed by me prior to October 2013. So after some serious elimination process (as if, haha), the cards I have selected that deserve to be reviewed are the CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum MasterCard versus Citi PremierMiles American Express versus Citi Prestige MasterCard Master Elite vs. Hong Leong Bank Wise Visa vs. RHB Visa Signature and Standard Chartered Bank WorldMiles MasterCard.

And in this said article, you will also get to see the coolest card on planet earth that is recognized throughout our universe and beyond biggrin.gif

I also credited sifu MilesAndMore for his guidance; and, I as usual my articles are full with errors or mistake, and I appreciate if you guys could highlight some of them notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

My very first Credit Card Ultimate Showdown was published back in May 2011 at My Credit Cards blog, click the link below to read the article in my dark and mysterious realm (where I started my wasting time blogging career for FREE):

Malaysia Top Ten Credit Cards - Ultimate Showdown 2011

Prior to September 2012, many members here, e.g. ronnie and gerradling (by the way where is gerradling?), were complaining they had headaches after visiting my dark realm. After much nagging from them, I was lead to the bright white light where I started publishing all my articles at a single blog called Generations XYZ, www.generationsxyz.blogspot.com. And my second Credit Card Showdown followed me to this "new" main blog. Click link below to read my Credit Card Ultimate Showdown 2012:

i plan to apply maybank 2 gold card, my salary are not meet the requiremrnt, is that possible to list a guuarantor for CC in order to get approval?
*
No, but what you mentioned is like you getting a Supplementary Card where the Principal Card holder is responsible for your debt(s).

Well, what you need to do is go persuade the person who is willing to stand as your Guarantor to go and apply for the Maybankard 2 Cards and then issue you a Supp card.

Example, years ago, when my son turned 18 years old (he entered Uni at age 17 years old), I issued two credit cards to him (got the application forms pre-signed before he left for the US after his Christmas break and on the day of his 18th birthday I submitted the application). Now he has CIMB World MasterCard, MBB 2 Plat Cards and MBB Visa Infinite and with the total combined credit limit from these cards, he can go get himself a Audi or BMW or a Ford Mustang in the USA and I got to pay for it!!!

And last year he did use his Supp Visa Infinite to purchase a used sports car, click here to read my article My Coupe and My Son's Sports Card Paid with My Credit Cards.

Show off.... more like shiok sendiri, same same sensation that I get when I show off my credit cards, hahaha.

And if I do come across a person with a Citi Prestige, I guess I shall do some charity work and point out how much he is losing out every time he uses it laugh.gif
