Where else to go in seoul aside from the Amusement parks / palaces?
*
haha... many more, try googling the below

1. Building 63, a great sight from the top of the building and a wax museum underneath and also a aquarium
2. Namsan Seoul Tower
3. Food! Try lining up for best food in town, the Ginseng Chicken Soup, Black Pork and all
4. River Cruise
5. Hello Kitty Cafes
6. COEX Mall

Part 3

We arrived at the resort just a bit after lunch. At the Alpensia Resort, we booked a small apartment with 2 rooms. 1 room has a king size bed and the other room is an ondol room. I can say that this apartment fit five of us comfortably. It has a kitchen and a living area as well as two bathrooms. The ondol room can fit four and the living room maybe another two. All in all if one has a tight budget, this apartment can fit 8 people quite well. It costs RM600 per night.

Please also note that if you intend to return to the airport from the resort they do have a shuttle but that shuttle is on a "first come first serve" basis and you cannot book it earlier. As I prefer certainty, I booked the shuttle going to Seoul instead. The drop off is at a Jamshil station.
PLEASE BOOK ON THE DAY YOU ARRIVE AND NOT THE LAST DAY AS THEY REQUIRE 48 HOURS NOTICE TO BOOK YOUR PLACE.

The resort is beautiful and as our apartment is in the ski house, it was really convenient! We booked a skiing lesson for all of us the next day and then ate at the Japanese restaurant. The food was quite good and delicious. We ate there two more times throughout our stay there. We became snowbunnies that day!

The next day we started our skiing adventure early in the morning at 9am. It was a painful adventure indeed! Let's just say that if you are not that fit, skiing is very hard. For those who are unfit, just book a half day skiing session first. Paying for the full day but not being fit enough to go all the way is a waste. We skiing until 4pm with a break in between for lunch. By noon my daughter could ski down the slope! I think kids pick it up much faster!

Later that night we headed to Hwenggye and I asked the cabbie to take us to the best galbi restaurant. He was a really kind guy who not only took us to the very very traditional restaurant, he also ordered for us and asked the lady owner to call us a cab after we were done. How traditional was it? Well there was no heater and we had to heat ourselves on the stove where the galbi is cooked! The galbi was exceptional! We also tried the bimbimnamyeon which is a Pyeongchang specialty. Memorable night!

taxi there cheap or expensive?

Taxi is only cheap if you are travelling in groups. Otherwise it is cheaper to take the subway. If you are in Seoul, subway is the cheapest and most convenient way. Try to avoid rush hour...theirs is worse than KL.

Sorry, most of my pictures have my daughter's and relatives faces so I don't want to put them online. A lot of weirdos nowadays.

Maru,

I can't remember the rates but when we used the cab in Hwenggye, a 10-15 min ride was about 8K won. So when split among 4 that's about 2K won per person. In Seoul the subway is still the best. If you want to take a cab from the airport, you can book it online which is cheaper and for 4 people it is worth it. I can't remember the link...let me look for it and I will PM you.

Please take note to there are 2 type of taxi in seoul. The black color taxi with yellow top i think that is the premium taxi and the starting fare is very much higher than the standard. Just make sure u take the right one then will be ok.
Subway usually is the most cheap to travel around the city unless you are in a group and depend the distance you going from. Get a T-money card and you can use it to take train and pay for taxi. Similar like our touch and go.
