Hi,a question here,im going on end of this month and im using iphone..im looking for any map or navigator that i can use in seoul and jeju..any recommendation?thanks
*
In Seoul, i find the most useful is the Subway Apps. Make sure you download it becos their subway is like a maze. Map you can get it from Korea Plaza Malaysia and Tourist Information Point in Seoul. it super easy to travel in Seoul as most ppl understands English. biggrin.gif

In Jeju, its best you rent a car. We used AJ car rental, more popular known as Avis. They give u a free GPS and make sure u ask them to change to English for you before u leave the car rental depot and learn how to key in the phone number. icon_idea.gif

We did a post about jeju n car rental below for fun

the car your rent, is it call Morning? how you get only 60000 won for 3 days rental? you book earlier online? because when i check with online website such as ajreantal and kumho, the cheapest i see is 50000won for 24hours rclxub.gif

i'm going to jeju with my friend end of april, and now i'm trying to look for car to rent in jeju island. you just need to have international driving license right? i'm going to make it next week at JPJ.
*
Great to know u r goin korea.

The rates on the website is not very accurate. You should find the Aj counter in Gimpo airport, tell them u need a car in Jeju and reaching in 2 hours. They will allocate a car for you when you reach Jeju and a free feeder bus from the airport to the depot. Gate 5. smile.gif

Yes international driving license is required. Yup our white little car is Morning nod.gif

just bought my flight tix to Seoul! reaching there on 1 Apr early morning and leaving on 7 Apr.... do you guys recommend finding ground tour arrangements or just travel on my own around by taking public transport etc..  i believe that ground tour arrangement would be cheaper though as they include hotel, food and everything else.
*
If you have time to do some homework and research, exploring Seoul using their subway is the best. Flexible and you can choose where to go and all. You can save lots of money by choosing hotels and hostels you like, food you want to eat and where you want to go.

Make sure you check out Building 63 also smile.gif Its new

When i was there i did took a few day/ half day tour, book it in Seoul itself.
1. DMZ Tour
2. Food Tour
3. Ski Trip

Have fun.

Hi planning to go to Seoul this year. Will the Airasia flight comfortable/spacious enough? I used to go to HK with Airasia, and seat wise it was not a good experience.
*
air asia is definitely not spacious. but you can choose hot seat with additional money. hot seat has additional leg space.

its only 5 to 6 hours flight though smile.gif

I noticed that there's a quiet zone while buying tickets. Is the quiet zone really quiet? xD
*
haha... not really quiet, just less ppl walking around.

Remember to book your mail before boarding too, i try to get the Nasi Lemak and they say sold out.

And the flight from Korea to KL, the food on board is more expensive.

which is a better place to stay in seoul? dongdaemun or myeongdong? i like to shop until 10pm maybe..
*
Myeongdong is a shopping district with bigger brands like Uniglo, Top Shop, Lotte and all.. closes at 10pm

Dongdaemun is a shopping district with small or no brands, very worth it and closes after midnight like 3am.

Both is quite near, does not really matter where you stay, make sure you get a good hotel and just hop onto a taxi after your shopping or the subway which closes at 11.30pm.

means they only reserve the seat for u n when i redeem on the spot, they only charge it to my CC? would like to know if i dunwan to purchase on9, can i purchase it on the spot? is there any chance there is no more seat available? i plan to buy ITX

i know we can haf an option to select the LDW. there is 2 option to select (full immunity & 300,000 krw). actually which one to select and what is the difference? i read on their webpage stated that when we rent the car, we are covered on insurance & accident. so LDW is an extra option? btw, it's necessary to purchase together? i'm kinda confuse on this.  rclxub.gif
*
The ITX you can buy it on the spot. I see many South Koreans do that. Btw, we accidentally hope onto an ITX, thought it was just another train, no seats, so have to stand near the entrance for the whole journey. haha.... we dunno if its legal or not. but everything was okay.

I booked AJ car rental, more popular as Avis. its very convenient, you go to its counter in Jeju Airport, they will ask you to go to Gate 5, take a free shuttle bus (for AJ customers only) to their depot. And your car is there. (book your car at the Gimpo AJ Car Rental before flying off to Jeju, give them some time to look for a good car for you)

You can choose with or without insurance. I suggest, just pay a little extra for the insurance, for peace of mind. icon_rolleyes.gif

we wrote a blog page for fun about travelling in Jeju, maybe it helps haha.. http://milokosongbing.blogspot.com/2013/01/jeju-island.html

Make sure you download a subway app of korea. Its in English, you can just input from which station to which station and the app will tell you where to interchange with the shortest time.

seoul subway is like a maze. hardcopy map will drive you nuts. haha...
