4Mbps package , its too slow. Try removing splitter and perform a direct connection and see if you notice
If you rant to TM , they would say that kindly downgrade to 1Mbps package or something like that. Your DSL modem also does not want to sync at 4mbps , it syncs lower
Haha, The same thing happen to me. TM technician told me my house can't have 4Mbps, ask me to downgrade, but I refused because my neighbour can get, why can't I? I can't imagine how TM and their staff will suffer if our country has changed government. With open competition, I am sure TM will be eliminated if the management and staff continue to have this type of attitude.
I have just got my 4Mbps 2 days ago. In fact, this is 2 years after my first application and result of many visits to TM point. Phone and internet have become a commodity of modern life. They are no longer optional for every house. Especially in the city. And 2 years of waiting has costed TM a few thousand ringgit from me alone because I have switched to Maxis broadband. There are a few hundred houses near my area, imagine the losses of TM for being "snail speed" in their service.
OK, so much of complain. Let me share my experience on streamyx.
Day 1: Came "mat rempit" contractor (why everyone has "Mat Rempit" look?). One hour late from the appointment. Then he came to my house, found out the phone line is not working. He went out to the exchange and fixed it. Impressive! Then he found out the phone line wiring in my house is not good because got so much noise and sometimes the phone line will "engage" itself. He check the line for me and found out that the line to 1st floor is bad, can't be used as parallel line, took it out, the line is back to normal. But Mr Rempit started to show face already. Complaining this is not his work, waste of his time, the phone contractor just take $ without doing a good job and he has to clean up... Not so impressive! Took him another 30 minutes to configure the modem and activate the line. He told me my line is not so good but still can get up to 3Mbps+, ok loh I accept lah. He is a good guy but if he can improve his customer service skill, he will do himself and the customer a big favour.
Day 2: I was worried about Mr Rempit's work on my cabling. I climbed up to the wiring breakout box out side my house to check his work. Very badly done. While cleaning up, I tested a few option to find the best combination to get lower noise level. You know, TM incoming has only 2 wires, and my house phone line got 4 wires (2x4=8), quite a bit of work for me. Check, check and confirmed 1st floor memang koyak. So used 2 wire to connect to see if it improves the line quality, or 4 wire gives better result. Well... they are the same. Normally the more wire you have the less noise you will get because different wire carries different purpose. So, there goes my morning, cleaning up TM's mess.
In the afternoon, I tak puas hati. I want to decrease my noise level and improves the service. So, I start changing ADSL spliter, cables, etc... Haha, I managed to improve my line. Apparently the black telephone cable, ADSL spliter came default with TM is not good. I use my own ADSL spliter which has a very short "tail" to the wall socket, it improves the SNR by 0.3. Then Changing the cable improves the SNR by another 0.7. Altogether I have improved the SNR by 1db. I have 12.4db now compare to 11.3db preciously.
Satisfied by my own "initiatives". I started to do some speed tests. It's not upto my expectation but still in acceptable level. Because I mostly use China sites, so the connection to IP addresses in China really matters. So I have made comparison on local, China and US sites. Please let me know what is the speed you get if you are also a 4Mbps streamyx user. So I can set my expectation right
