I haven't try and don't know how to update the map. But i think maybe i will try to install Papago X8.5 on my HU later. After you got your new car, do update us on your Papago ok?

guys, just wanna ask, for the new HU for forte,the reception is really bad leh. almost like going into building parking punya reception eventhough driving outside. is there any FIX for this? if i change the HU to an aftermarket one, will it void anything ? only warranty relating to the HU? in dat case i dont mind coz can get warranty for the external HU right haha.but yea srsly speaking it's annoying ..and kinda embarassing also if got passenger. pls halp.

Well, i didn't expect it to be THAT bad to be honest. but u confirm can expect the radio reception will be choppy everytime u get into the car lol.
Good thing about the new HU is the LCD screen for GPS lo. Cooler looking but when reception gets choppy..not so cool already. Going forward, will you be able to get the forte with the OLD HU? i dont think so. Would like to point this out to potential forte buyers as well. Anyways Back to my Q, any sifus who know any FIX?....(please don't tell me to play my own cds, that is not a fix haha)
If cant fix im considering changing the HU..if so what brand and which part of the warranty will void? thanks for sharing..
but HU aside, the car is awesome thus far. makes me feel every $$ worth it

there is one fixed this, with turning of the AF, search the thread here.

yes ive read and ive turned it off? just a simply press on the radio home screen right? "AF". it's turned off and doesnt help.

For the New HU bad reception issue,,,
I think you guys have to form a group to NZ Galaxy to make a complaint..taruh them gao gao , how can the HU with those problem can release into market and sell it to consumer??? they want the forte buyer to become their experiment object.. show them something,,don let the goyang kaki and escape from this issue..really hate those irresponsible org. always remember, never have this in our mind. .." aiyo..dun complaint too much..80K++ car is like that ger"".. as a consumer..we pay..we have to get the satisfaction. ...just my 2 cents....

I have mentioned before in this forum. Our radio reception is still analog and not digital yet. So slight fluation of signal will happen especially in city area. The trick is just off the AF once you got a clear line. I hv also change a better antenna. If $$$ permit upgrade your front tweeters and speakers. So far I m very happy with my new HU except I wish for Papago as the Speednavii maps are 2010/1 version and theres not update yet.

Hmm the radio reception you mentioned based on analog.. is this the problem with the HU or the antenna? With ur new antenna is there any choppiness in reception?
