Hello all Forte owners,

I'm planning to change my air filter to K&N air filter and I plan not to let the KIA SC notice that I've changed it. I'm planning to sell my brand new original Forte air filter (when I go for my 20k service) to anyone that is interested in it with a 20% discount from what you buy from Kia. I would like to trade my NEW filter with your OLD filter (so that when I go SC, I'll put back that old filter). Who's interested to do some trading with me? tongue.gif

change filter will void warranty?

You guys kinda made me happy not waiting for the new HU tongue.gif  icon_idea.gif

Well, i didn't expect it to be THAT bad to be honest. but u confirm can expect the radio reception will be choppy everytime u get into the car lol.
Good thing about the new HU is the LCD screen for GPS lo. Cooler looking but when reception gets choppy..not so cool already. Going forward, will you be able to get the forte with the OLD HU? i dont think so. Would like to point this out to potential forte buyers as well. Anyways Back to my Q, any sifus who know any FIX?....(please don't tell me to play my own cds, that is not a fix haha)
If cant fix im considering changing the HU..if so what brand and which part of the warranty will void? thanks for sharing..
but HU aside, the car is awesome thus far. makes me feel every $$ worth it thumbup.gif
btw, just got my car early this week white forte 1.6sx,

I have mentioned before in this forum. Our radio reception is still analog and not digital yet. So slight fluation of signal will happen especially in city area. The trick is just off the AF once you got a clear line. I hv also change a better antenna. If $$$ permit upgrade your front tweeters and speakers. So far I m very happy with my new HU except I wish for Papago as the Speednavii maps are 2010/1 version and theres not update yet.
*
Thnks for ur reply bro. Sry but got something i dont understand.. So i need to switch "AF" on till i get a clear line then switching "AF" off back? rclxub.gif .
Hmm the radio reception you mentioned based on analog.. is this the problem with the HU or the antenna? With ur new antenna is there any choppiness in reception?

QUOTE(eddycmc @ May 27 2012, 01:48 PM)
For the New HU bad reception issue,,,
I think you guys have to form a group to NZ Galaxy to make a complaint..taruh them gao gao , how can the HU with those problem can release into market and sell it to consumer???  they want the forte buyer to become their experiment object.. show them something,,don let the goyang kaki and escape from this issue..really hate those irresponsible org. always remember, never have this in our mind. .." aiyo..dun complaint too much..80K++ car is like that ger"".. as a consumer..we pay..we have to get the satisfaction. ...just my 2 cents....
*
agree with you bro. but is there anyone who has made an official complaint here? not sure how to go about it as well. blink.gif. But will call up the HQ and complain lo next week.

Go to any good auto audio shop and they will recommend and try fixing all until you are satisfy. I got mine at Level 2, Sg Wang.

AF is only use(on) if you are traveling at highway from one zone to another zone of difference frequency but of same station.

Certain radio stations frequency are not stable resulting choppy reception. This can only be help if you got a good antenna. Any factor is the broadcasting stations are digital eg Astro's station ...myfm, era....etc. these station hv better reception than 988.
*
Thanks a lot for the feedback. I guess I'll send it to NZ Galaxy see what they can do for me first.
Btw, changing the antenna requires wire-cutting right? In that case only the antenna warranty is voided?

Just unscrew the short antenna and screw in a better / longer / etc. no cutting wire require unless you are changing to sharkfin type antenna.

Ah now that makes sense...glad u're here bro! helps a lot. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif
guess i'll ask them to look into the pull-left issue as well. shakehead.gif

oooo okok .

I heard someone mentioned that the speednavi doesn't require annual RM60 subscription fee and can be used as long as it is still functioning but has to pay for map upgrading. can anyone confirm this?

besides that how good is the GPS system as someone posted in FB saying that the GPS cannot be locked even after 20 minutes, do you guys face such problem?

thx
*
1st of all i dont even know how to update the map..anyone care to share? LoL...

As for the locking of position, I have no problems with mine so far. It's quite fast actually.

no, they buy your rims around rm500 only. that is the current value, at least at my place (around jb)

RM500 definitely seems to be a better deal.. RM400 is the same as 1 forumer selling his 1 yr old rims shakehead.gif . Maybe only in JB? blink.gif

QUOTE(CyberKewl @ Jun 1 2012, 08:27 AM)
not sure about 2.0 shifting as u can shift it without moving the gear lever to the right, but for 1.6 sx, it will not shift back to automatic until you move the gear back to the left.
*
You're saying if u're on gear 6 and u slow down till 20km/h it will still remain @ gear 6? shocking.gif .

Btw, sent my car to chck for front windscreen problem - can hear wind noise coming in about 80km/h. Told me they need to get approval from hq to remove the windscreen and seal it back properly shocking.gif and will take 1 day process. Any1 gone through this? Why need approval from HQ? Coz im not replacing the windscreen, no cracks visible ...at least. But the service is much better than Red Cube, the one beside federal highway. Went ytd, the personnel there juz told me make appointment on Monday coz saturday all the SC will be closed coz he told me need to leave car for them 1-2 days (but da heck i went abt 11-12pm on a thursday, by right shld get car on Friday la right? Didnt explain to me the procedure as well, didnt bother to ask the technical advisor to check first also) Kudos to teh kinrara ppl. Friendly and informative, fixed the alignment issue as well. And the personnel @ kinrara SC told me changing my 17" ori rims to another 17" rims will not void warranty. is there any SA or SC that mentioned otherwise?

hi all bro / sis,

much appreciated if you could let me have your advice for the above enquiry....

tq so much

U can try kinrara SC if u face the same prob. At least i can feel the difference now after they fixed it, no obvious pulling to the left. need to test a bit more though. (update: after testing still got pulling to the left. Im nt sure if i can say it's an alignment issue?) But yea, can change lane if u let go ur hand liao. haha..shat.

Hmm so you thoroughly tested it? I went to Kinrara SC. They said fixed but problem persists..perhaps i'll go serdang raya SC. very annoying keep halakiri.

Ya lo, even when u press the panic button u only hear "hon hon hon" same sound like u press the horn. but i not sure how alarm will sound blink.gif

Can those of you who have the 1.6SX comment on your impressions of this car?  Do you regret not getting the 2.0?
What about cabin noise - is it loud?  And power enough for 1.6 or laggy?

Just need a city car. Like the 2.0 but considering the 1.6
*
No regrets. Haha. I not gila kuasa. Can feel underpower when got passengers sit inside the car going uphill especially. Need to rev abt 2.5k (coz i still breaking in so dont dare exceed 3k) with 5 ppl in the car inclding myself.
Cabin noise - i not audiophile so it's considered quiet for me, tyre noise quite noticeable ..but i blast my audio when alone.
actually i have budget to go for 2.0 but i think about FC and driving in city, get 1.6 lo. hate to see fuel burn idling haha. like seeing $$ burning away. just my 1 cent.
so far 1.6sx FC - 9.4l/100km. about 70% city , 30 highway. Not sure considered high or not

Thanks for your impressions, so 1.6 is the better city car? You mean is not a sporty drive la?
*
Im a very cost conscious person hahaha. So i'll monitor the avg L/100km actually.
Anyway I'm breaking in so im keeping the rpm below 3k. Once done 1st service heard some sifu say can go higher.
1 more thing. Coz my car came with bodykit so yeah, dont dare to drive too fast over bumpy roads as well.
Scratched a bit of the front part (BK luckily) not the car body when parking inside parking lots going upwards.
Have to be careful lol. But 1.6 is sufficient for me. the rest of the $$ can go for higher end tint, poisons etc. But if u have $$ and dont care about FC i dont see any reason why you would take 1.6 over 2.0.
