Guys, I wanna get a raid 2.5" hdd enclosure. I am not sure if I should get one with external power or just the normal internal power is sufficient? planned to buy online.. I have this 2 option on 11street cause just manage to score a big RM100 voucher. Can someone give some feedback on this? 2.5" raid enclosure with or without power adapter better?

I think more of not enough time to enjoy what you have bought.

Quite easy to spend money these days, just buy online and the goods will be delivered. Spending time to enjoy the goods is another challenge.

haha yeah

i also had this problem that make me always thinks 6pm is a must go even if my work is finish or hanging pending which is bad example 2 my junior exec laugh.gif doh.gif

since i discovered online buying,,,i always run out of money faster comparing the days i actively go out daily just fine dining laugh.gif doh.gif

2 others hearing my story,,,it is strange and so impossible but some how i did proven them wrong laugh.gif doh.gif

I think most HDD is a mix bag.

So far, I am having good experience with 4TB Western Digital Red.

One of my 6TB Western Digital Blue is slowly failing.

Frankly, I find that SSDs are more durable than traditional mechanical HDDs.

Yep but ssd isn't for storage , traditional HD 1TB for normal storage usage only.
WD red is expensive too.Actually does green rebrand to become blue with higher capacity ?

Though of buying online but worry shipping hard disk would be dangerous on how they handle the parcel.Worry DOA.

Where did you bought those hard disk from ? lowyat plaza ?

I don't understand what do you mean by SSD isn't for storage. SSD is expensive and have higher cost per GB but it would be excellent for storage.

I bought mine from ITC Mangga Dua in Jakarta. It is similar to Lowyat.

I mean SSD is not suitable for storage price per GB is too expensive.Any ssd below RM 400 for 1TB ( r/w same as HD speed) ? and ssd is a bit scary for storage when comes to power failure.

Which ssd or hd brand you bought at ITC Mangga Dua in Jakarta ? warranty ?

1. I have bought 3x 6TB Western Digital Blue from there, warranty is the same with Malaysia, 3 years.

2. I will buy 1TB Samsung SSD 850 EVO from there within this month. 5 years warranty. Or from Malaysia whichever is cheaper.

I am also planning to buy Samsung SSD 960 EVO 512GB once it gets released.

I have seen that graph also. Seems like Western Digital is having higher failure rates lately. In contrast, Seagate seems to be improving. I do not favor Seagate as I have really bad experience with Seagate's HDD. It was close to 80% failure rate for me in my previous experience with Seagate's HDD (ranging from 1 TB to 3TB).

Hitachi HDD is very reliable (since they are used by the banks and companies) but for some reasons, it is difficult to get the consumer version.

Maybe external HDD move a lot more volumes than internal HDD.
The price difference also the reason shucking is a thing in America.

Which is a more worthy external hdd to buy? 2x 2tb or 1x 4tb?

I know some 4tb cannot maximises 4tb, only until 3.2tb or something. So thought getting max value is better

With that much usage, do you backup your data in other locations?

currently on cloud, but these hdd are the backups of the cloud instead. It's reversed though. And mostly are stock clips and songs + soundtracks for video.
