QUOTE(cyclone9 @ Sep 6 2016, 11:57 AM) can I categories WD red and black as below ? I used wd red for gaming. The reading speed is fine. Most of the time i will go with wd blue. I generally dont see the need for black. Rather spend the money on a decent size ssd.Red = Torrent only, what about gaming ? Black = Torrent + Gaming ? |

One of my internal HDD (6TB version) shows One or More SMART threshold exceeded.
How long does this HDD have before failure? I am planning to backup the entire HDD to my external 6 TB HDD. I think it is still under warranty. As such, I plan to claim warranty once it fails. |

QUOTE(eligible @ Oct 16 2016, 03:35 PM) Any sifu out here mind share with me? Start backing up and get a replacement ready.Currently my ext HDD. got sound which is "ticking sound". 1. Can I fix it? 2. Or I just buy a new unit? 3. Would the data inside it gone missing? I had that issue for a few HDD and they went bad very quickly. Even if the warranty is still effective, RMA will take at least one month or more. |

QUOTE(Joey Christensen @ Nov 6 2016, 02:38 PM) Hi everyone. Just a quickie. What's the average price for a 1TB and 2TB 2.5" HDD these days? Preferably the brand of Seagate. I'm looking for an upgrade for my PS4. Around RM200 to RM300, you can download the price list from C-Zone.Thank you. Suggest you go for a SSD instead as it will make your PS4 load faster. |

Seems like one of my 6TB hdd is failing quite rapidly.
Plan to backup as soon as possible and replace it for the time being. Can I send my HDD for RMA if it is making loud noises during loading? |

Spending time to enjoy the goods is another challenge. |

QUOTE(Maxieos @ Nov 17 2016, 11:48 PM) after years been , new WD blue with 2TB still having issue with it ? since it's reband of WD green ? I think most HDD is a mix bag.So far, I am having good experience with 4TB Western Digital Red. One of my 6TB Western Digital Blue is slowly failing. Frankly, I find that SSDs are more durable than traditional mechanical HDDs. |

QUOTE(Maxieos @ Nov 21 2016, 06:19 PM) Yep but ssd isn't for storage , traditional HD 1TB for normal storage usage only. I don't understand what do you mean by SSD isn't for storage. SSD is expensive and have higher cost per GB but it would be excellent for storage.WD red is expensive too.Actually does green rebrand to become blue with higher capacity ? Though of buying online but worry shipping hard disk would be dangerous on how they handle the parcel.Worry DOA. Where did you bought those hard disk from ? lowyat plaza ? I bought mine from ITC Mangga Dua in Jakarta. It is similar to Lowyat. |

QUOTE(Maxieos @ Nov 21 2016, 08:26 PM) I mean SSD is not suitable for storage price per GB is too expensive.Any ssd below RM 400 for 1TB ( r/w same as HD speed) ? and ssd is a bit scary for storage when comes to power failure. 1. I have bought 3x 6TB Western Digital Blue from there, warranty is the same with Malaysia, 3 years.Which ssd or hd brand you bought at ITC Mangga Dua in Jakarta ? warranty ? 2. I will buy 1TB Samsung SSD 850 EVO from there within this month. 5 years warranty. Or from Malaysia whichever is cheaper. I am also planning to buy Samsung SSD 960 EVO 512GB once it gets released. |

QUOTE(Maxieos @ Nov 22 2016, 08:39 PM) Do you think HGST will have better life time ? I have seen that graph also. Seems like Western Digital is having higher failure rates lately. In contrast, Seagate seems to be improving. I do not favor Seagate as I have really bad experience with Seagate's HDD. It was close to 80% failure rate for me in my previous experience with Seagate's HDD (ranging from 1 TB to 3TB).I dont understand the chart but where I can find HGST ? http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/hard-driv...or-q3-2016.html Hitachi HDD is very reliable (since they are used by the banks and companies) but for some reasons, it is difficult to get the consumer version. |
