+ Rm500++ for the OSS, it doesnt seems right to me... And OSS is not a must for 50mm to me, but sure its an advantage smile.gif

If its 55-200mm , then OSS is a must nod.gif

NEX 50mm is stabilised and has a better built. It's no brainier why it's more expensive.

which version of sigma 70-210mm?

i am finding a macro lens too, if focal length < 100mm, its hard to shoot animal except for some slow movements bugs, but if if not AF and OSS, >100mm is easily blur due to handshake... Dilemma doh.gif

Added on February 27, 2012, 11:32 amRisk my life for this shot, wild owl with 50mm lens, simply a step ahead i can reach "him"  sweat.gif

Please advice, am i overdoing the color/contrast/sharpness? CnC is greatly welcome smile.gif

I'm not a pro but with my experience with other pros, the first one: It's kinda sad that the front part of the wings are not focus but instead of blurred out. I really like your shots, stunt me for quite awhile actually (at first I was WOAHhhhh... and then I was nooo...), the contrast and sharpness is just great in my opinion. I love "his" eyes. blush.gif

Perhaps you can send your shots to flickr instead, because sometimes the image host will compress your images so best if you can upload your photos to flickr or photoshop.com smile.gif

i deliberately out of focus its wings... if all was in focus then the bokeh will worse than now... outcome will be a more distracting background... nvm, i will try again tomorrow, hope the owl waiting for me there wink.gif

For those going manual, this is a good long winded interesting article.. I spent almost 3 hrs digesting it while watching dramas haha

http://aggregate.org/DIT/OLDLENS/

I hope I will not be like this biggrin.gif :

QUOTE
Old manual focus lenses are highly addictive. The first time you pick one up, the mechanical quality hits home. Then you turn the focus ring. Wow! That sure felt good. Unbelievably smooth. Then you make the really big mistake. Thinking manual focus is cool, you try turning the manual focus ring on your favorite auto-focus lens. What the H*LL was that? Sloppy. Plastic. Yuck! The next thing you know, you've got a dozen old M42 lenses sitting next to you.... It's called LBA: Lens Buying Addiction.

Fuyoh, suddenly everybody so active... Was awfully quiet last weekend laugh.gif By the way, my IR remotes came in today. Anybody want one? I bought extras by accident (multi-tabbed browsing cool2.gif ), sell at cost of RM6. Discount RM1 if you work in Sony hehe... I can pass to you anytime in the office.

QUOTE(Ah hao @ Feb 25 2012, 06:50 PM)
ya...the handling is bad for me  sweat.gif

when this lens attach to nex, i hold the lens instead of camera, if i hold on camera i really scare the mount will break apart doh.gif so i don't dare to use tripod either, the lens weight is too much  rclxub.gif

and when focusing,i turn focus ring with 1 hand , hold the lens(camera) with another hand, then hand shake seriously till i always get blur picture cool2.gif

maybe i have a chicken hand tongue.gif
*
Most tele lens usually like that, big and long and maybe heavy especially old ones with metal-build, really need a tripod if zoomed out. I bidded (and still winning atm) for the 1st version by Kiron, gonna need to start exercising my hands and arms as it's the heaviest of all sweat.gif

QUOTE(stimix @ Feb 27 2012, 12:31 PM)
That one crop at F3.5? Yeah really wow..I think I must reduced my F from 1.4 to probably 2.8 or 4 too haha

One think I dun like about 50MM after using it for few days + the added adapter is the focal lenght permanently >50mm & wth the adapter probably 80MM? That's already any auto max zoom lens liao compare wth my existing 18-55 kit lens and if wanna shoot food picture, I need to sit further away from my food.. sad.gif
*
NEX has a crop factor of 1.5x so a 50mm (FX/full-frame format) lens would equal to ~75mm on our cams, not sure whether the adapter will affect anything though. Can always try a extension tube if you want close-ups, cheap and can be used with majority of lenses unlike filters which are limited by its thread size, 49mm cannot install on 55mm and vice-versa unless add step-up/step-down ring.
