The fuel filter 3++ is the standard price. My Honda city also cost around there.

U guys can plan your own service schedule need not to follow Honda 100% like I mentioned before. Before your reach to major service or 40k or 80k. U can change certain part before and after 40k. For example change CVTF at 30k, change break oil at 35k. The. 40k only do the expensive service parts like fuel filter. Then 45k change air filter the. 50k AirCon service and aircon filter. Just try to manage yourself. I have been doing this for my 2007 Honda city and my current mileage now is 110k. No issues on warranty void. Don't let the service centre bully you.

If u go through in details, allot of things is unnessesary. U can cancel it in the invoice when they show u before they start servicing your car.

For 40k service
Some ppl may disagree. But this is only my way of doing it and my point of view. If you dont agree. Don't follow. Please don't shoot me.

1. CVT. have u done this before? ( advisable to change CVTF every 20k. If yes the do it on 35k or 45k.

2: ENGINE OIL. Compulsory every service
3: OIL FILTER. Compulsory every service
4:PETROL FILTER. Compulsory every 40k
5: BRAKE OIL. Skip to 35k or 45k
6: DUST AND POLLEN FILTER.(assume is AirCon filter. Skip to 35 or 45k.
7: TIGHTEN UNDERCARRIAGE RM 0
8: BRAKE PAD INSPECTION RM 0
9: ENGINE WASHER. Compulsory When change oil.
10: CVT WASHER. Compulsory when change CVTF
11: ENGINE RETAINER. Not sure what is this.

This is just my way of how I schedule my service. So it is up to u.

Let's be honest guys. What is the real reason u buy insight? Safe environment? I think only 1% agreed and 99% don't agree and I'm in the 99%.

Ok I'm all out. The reason I bought insight is I like the design of the car, tax free( damn cheap for fully imported from Japan) and my monthly petrol pump saving compare to my other cars. Cheap road tax.

Talking about depreciate after 5 years because of battery. I see no different in buying Kia, Hyundai, or BMW, Peugeot and etc. these car brand depreciate badly in our country. So I take it as the same.

Different ppl have different point of view. So to me, as long it save my monthly expenses and I change car every 5 years. It is just a car.

Why stop others from buying the car they like?

After reading his blog, My 2C:

1) Can gasoline price stay at 1.90 for another 5 years? I really don't think it will.
2) Where did he get the battery will be gone in 4 years? Prius battery can last over 200K miles (320K km).. That should be near 8 years to 10 years...

Hey Guys...Honda started to recycle rare earth metals in hybrid car battery....so don't worry about battery pollution... biggrin.gif

rclxms.gif "Honda had been applying a heat treatment to used nickel-metal hydride batteries and recycling nickel-containing scrap as a raw material of stainless steel. However, the successful stabilization of the extraction process at the plant of Japan Metals & Chemicals Co., Ltd. made possible the extraction of rare earth metals in a mass-production process with purity as high as that of newly mined and refined metals.

The newly established process enables the extraction of as much as above 80% of rare earth metals contained in used nickel-metal hydride batteries. Honda will strive to reuse extracted rare earth metals not only for nickel-metal hydride batteries, but also to a wide range of Honda products. Moreover, Honda will further expand the recycling of rare earth metals in the future as the newly established process enables the extraction of rare earth metals from a variety of used parts in addition to nickel-metal hydride batteries." rclxms.gif

Belkin autocast. Choose it because it supports Siri and got blue illuminated ring. Initially planning to put near the empty space beside aux but mic reception is so so. Thus i put it near the air con controller.
Since I need to switch it to aux mode, basically the display becomes useless except for the clock. So I slot it with my iPhone which supports Internet radio, iPod and podcast. Can easily take out when I left the car.
Oh, using old camera to capture it since my phone is on the dashboard;)
It is basically stream the phone audio to the car stereo speakers via Bluetooth.

Hi, I just want to make sure of something.

As mentioned Honda owners can choose and plan when to service their cars, for me I would go for service only every 8,000-10,000km (or 4-5 months), to save money and time while being in the safe zone. For free service yes you have to go for service before 5000km or 3 months mark etc. After that, I don't really think it's a must to service every 5000km or 3 months.............
But for new cars of less than 3 years old, does it affect the WARRANTY of the whole car? (I hope not). If not then it's great for us consumers smile.gif...........

For those going for optimum fuel efficiency, is fully synthetic oil the most efficient compared to semi synthetic oil? From what I know fully synthetic oil can last really long, around 10,000km or up to 6 months.

@twwong

80% of the Honda Service Center will not allow you to go service on 8k - 10k interval. Their best practice is every 5K. 20% if you know them and they know you then you are permitted to do so. But if you miss the interval for sure the warranty is sure gone. So the first 3 years is try stick with the normal 5k maintenance interval. We are living in Malaysia and unlike other countries , we have to stick the rules from Honda Malaysia.

Normal condition as Fully Synthetic Oil is last for 10k interval but not for Honda Malaysia. We can pay for the Fully Synthetic Oil but yet still need to service our lovely insight every 5k KM .

Alright, got it. 1 last question, is it okay to exceed the intervals a little bit, up to 6000km or a bit more than 3 months (my father did that for his 2.5 gen CRV..)? Thanks smile.gif........!!

@twwong

exceed a little bit should be around 200 - 300 km, not 1000km extra. But you have to talk with the Honda Service Advisor, they are the king to inform you how many KMs you can exceed on your car. Different service center have different policy.

I think car owner have to becareful even if you can find service center that allow you to exceed 5000km service interval. Few points to take note.

1) when they tell you it is ok to service at 6k or 7k interval, they only tell you verbally. On records a.k.a. your service booklet, service reminder sticker and also in their computer system, the recommended next service interval is still 5000km ahead of your current reading.

2) In the user manual and all the service schedule published, all are based on 5000km interval.

3) It is clearly stated in the warranty condition that you have to follow the recommended service interval and guideline for the warranty to be valid.

So I personally think if everything is ok and there is no warranty claim, the service center sometime close one eye and just follow car owner request to extend service interval, but they only say it verbally.

In the event if there is any issue that triggers warranty claim, your extended service interval may be used as one of the excuse for them not to honour the warranty, and there is no strong case that you can bring against them as based on documentation, the car owner did breach the terms of warranty by extending service interval.

So to be safe, even if you can find service center that allow extended service interval, make sure they document the upcoming service mileage on your service booklet based on the extended interval and not the standard 5000km, then at least you have proof that this extended interval is recommended by service center.

Hi Kets~! Tomorrow I'm going to see what color to chose, probably is Pearl White. I asked the SA to find Aqua color for me, but seems that it's really hard to find.
She promise will settle all the things for me in this month, so I think next week I will get my car~!! rclxms.gif
