Hi guys, I have interest in buying a 2nd hand savvy (before I get more money for whatever car)..when I go to mudah.my and see the market value, it's just too cheap to be ignored especially comparing with myvi (same year). although savvy looks a bit ugly and small.

is there any second hand car dealer which is reliable and will overhaul the whole thing before selling it? I myself like those life of a geek (not yet to cars) but I think I should focus more on career rather than learning how to fix a car instead.

From what I read, the AMT thingy is really interesting. I think most of the pros have emphasized it enough to use it as if it is a manual transmission, except that we dont have to worry about the clutch.

so the main problems are always the TDC sensor, ignition coil and some leakage here and there. Does all these have to do with AMT thingy? It doesn't make sense to me since AMT is just the way the transmission works. So does this means that savvy is poorly built in the first place?

because when I see people posting the problems about savvy are almost the same, it makes me feel that overhauling doesn't fix anything. Just like a melting icecream.

But you have to wait until I back to Malaysia smile.gif

Hi gang, I have some news that can save you money when you service your air con smile.gif

If you read my previous post, you would know that I was having air con problem where the gas was leaking very fast. It was discovered that it was the Cooling Coil (also known as Evaporator) was leaking. I think quite a number of you have suffered from this.

I have read online that most workshop charge RM400+ just for the parts and not yet the labour. The air con shop that I went to in Subang also quoted me RM400-500 just for the part.

I didn't think it would be that expensive, so I went to Proton Parts Centre (PPC) to ask for the part.

PPC only charged me RM292 for the cooling coil!!! Imagine how much the air con shop try to cut throat!!

So if you have a similar problem, go and buy the cooling coil from PPC, workmanship to fix it is quite standard everywhere I have checked, about RM400+ but at least you can save from the part smile.gif

Note:

When you go to PPC, don't call it a cooling coil. In their system, this part is called an EVAPORATOR. If you say  "cooling coil" sometimes they can't find what you need.
*
Thanks but need to ask:

1. Where is the Proton Parts Centre (PPC)? Any exact address or GPS coordinate?
2. How much did the labor of replacing it costed? The cooling coil is inside the dashboard, and that is to be dismantled then replaced back to access the evaporator.

hello,
been looking for a car for a while,
b4 this been looking out for the sneo,
and the consumption is quite good after driving a few of my friends car,
one of it the fc could get rm20 from shah alam to kuantan,
but yesterday been driving his other car which is savvy and it seems quite good and pretty low fc,
so the thing i need to ask,
if i were to get a manual savvy,
will it cost a lot for maintenance since will only be driving it to class,
and sometimes from shah alam to terengganu,
and i'm still a student,
haha,
many thanks

Hi,

You can find the necessary contact info for PPC here: http://www.protonparts.com.my/
Yes, the cooling coil is in the dashboard and it has to be completely dismantled. I was charged about RM400 labour, including new gas.

Don't bother. Doesn't work on savvys. Already bought one. Tested with over 10 sw on pc & phone. Only 1 works and only can read battery voltage. Already consulted a fellow forumer who programmed his own OBD reader, apparently proton got siemens to change some of the ECU data header to make it compatible with their PDT & renault readers only.

Sold mine to a friend driving merc A160. Works on his car. Reads and shows everything. Demmit~!

Oh yeah, high temp problem, thermostat checked / changed? Cooling system bleeding done?

nope. can change 1 by 1 if you want but recommended to change them in pairs. i.e. both front, both rear. that way it won't cause stability problems.

mine right now, front is standard replacements, rear using modded wira pro-ride abs. much stiffer than stock. nice for driver but not so nice for rear passengers when you hit bumps.. haha
other brands other people use : KYB, D2 adjustables, hotbits adjustables, RGT sports (sucks according to the user) and of course pro-ride (both sport & standard versions).

Price range anywhere between RM120 to RM500 per pair. Rear sets are cheaper than front. Cheapest are the standard ones.. wink.gif

Anyone had problem with AMT accumulator before? Mine cant engage the gear to auto and can only use manual for the time-being. Sent to workshop they said it is a pressure leak from accumulator, might have to change it for 1k ! Anyone had similar problem before?

Had that problem last week. My 2006 AMT would change from auto to manual while I was driving, and then it would get stuck on one gear and won't let me change till I stop, turn off the engine, and start up again. I took it to the authorized Proton Service Center nearby and they replaced the accumulator for RM 1.2k.

After I got it back, I drove for less then 4 days, and the same thing started to happen. took it back to the workshop and they said it was the motor so... it's been at the workshop since Wednesday.

I think that after I get it back I will go car shopping.tongue.gif

Hello all.
I'm actually looking to buy a second hand savvy here.
I saw a 5-year-old savvy and kind of like it, but i saw that the front bumper colour is a bit washed off/peeled, just the part above the plate number and in between the lights.
Also the "holder" of the side mirror is rusty too.
Are these normal for used savvy? or are they signs the car has had accident before?
Thanks!

try calling a PSC & see? good luck bro.

The PSC said the electropump will cost 2k+ to replace... I dunno if I even want to go through with that, knowing there's still one more part of the AMT assembly left to break after that vmad.gif

I'm thinking I just wanna junk it and go car shopping today tongue.gif Anybody wanna try to talk me out of it?
