Hi all, I am driving a 2008 Proton Savvy AMT. Recently, about 4 months ago, my aircond started blowing out hot air on the middle RIGHT and RIGHT hand side of the car. I've refill my aircond gas at least 2 times in 4 months and its still hot.I suspect there's a leak somewhere or maybe even a blockage.Anyone experienced this before? Need help ASAP. tq

WOW 1k+?! My car mileage is close to 50k. Impossible it'll cost 1k plus just to repair aircond, thats over pricing. Any other solution guys?

u need to testdrive first.. best if u can get a mechanic to check the engine condition..

from looks.. coolant seem not change @ dirty tank.. seat kotor + water damage already.. might need to repair sponge..

buying a 2nd hand car, u must bear in mind.. u need to put aside at least 2k.. in your case 3k cause another 10-15k need to change timing belt = rm600 roughly..

see tires also, need change or not..

*oh ya, better spare another 500 for spindle change.. if this car did not yet change it spindle.. worse case, your tire can fly away.. proton did recall for spindle change for car before 2006..

wow, nice info. can detect defect just by looking at the pics. thanx ya..
so roughly needs around 3k to change all the things u mentioned. all this repair can be done outside or bring to proton service center?
btw, how u see the seat dirty & what is water damage?

Thanks smile.gif I probly will have to change the cat-con due to the corrosion problem, but what is a mid-section bullet?
I got a quote from Proton, could be between rm400 (half) - rm700 (full set) not inc labour... is it just me, or is that expensive?
*
Too expensive. just go normal exhaust shop can d. Just make sure you get stainless steel pipes when replacing any section. Lasts longer than the standard ones (for 2007 above, 06 & below have better quality pipes for some reason)

Definitely ditch the cat, replace it with bulltet. It looks something like below. If you go exhaust shop sure can see one. No need spiral or whatever crap design the shop tells you. Normal one also ok d. wink.gif

Ya meh? Mine 6+ years d never had aircon problem so far (touchwood), works just fine. Just refill gas 2 times only. First time, it ran out, 2nd time because take out compressor, so have to refill. Just make sure you use "proper" gas on it and clean the blower fan every once in a while. Which reminds me, time to clean mine also.. hehe

For the 1 sided hot air problem, check piping. Most likely got blockage from compressor to inside. No need to take out everything. Most aircond shops can do this.
Jiash one was cooling coil problem, have to take out whole dashboard and replace coil. That's why so expensive.. whistling.gif

Hi gang, I have some news that can save you money when you service your air con smile.gif

If you read my previous post, you would know that I was having air con problem where the gas was leaking very fast. It was discovered that it was the Cooling Coil (also known as Evaporator) was leaking. I think quite a number of you have suffered from this.

I have read online that most workshop charge RM400+ just for the parts and not yet the labour. The air con shop that I went to in Subang also quoted me RM400-500 just for the part.

I didn't think it would be that expensive, so I went to Proton Parts Centre (PPC) to ask for the part.

PPC only charged me RM292 for the cooling coil!!! Imagine how much the air con shop try to cut throat!!

So if you have a similar problem, go and buy the cooling coil from PPC, workmanship to fix it is quite standard everywhere I have checked, about RM400+ but at least you can save from the part smile.gif

Note:

When you go to PPC, don't call it a cooling coil. In their system, this part is called an EVAPORATOR. If you say "cooling coil" sometimes they can't find what you need.

This is how the evaporator looks like:
