I have just tested the download from download.com and yes, the download speed is very unsatisfying 30kb/s-60kb/s, but only if I do not use parallel download, if I use download manager it reach about 150kb/s on 4 chunk and 300kb/s on 8 chunk. Just my 2cent, there might be some bandwidth slimming applied on CNET, try to test download file from some other site,
I am not sure whats wrong, but current solution u can use download manager that support multi chunk/parallel splitting

Standard download speed

4 Chunk Speed using Downthemall

8 chunk speed using Downthemall

Check the router also, sometimes bad router setting may affect (but don't touch anything if don't know), if the download manager also show slow speed, try to escalate it to the customer service.

Hope it helps.

ps: Max chunk in dta is 10chunk

Was thinking to consider Time Fibre after reading the new packages, but now I think have to drop the idea since the reviews are bad

which reviews? just because time gets 30kb/s from cnet(rofl who uses download.cnet??? sourceforge ftw) ??

in fact i am rather happy more of you stay out of time. yes time is so bad that we get 100% throughput throughout reputable servers or even parallel downloads.

@perwaja, check that 100mbps is a quota based one, after 100GB it will be 1mbps throttled speed.

The draconian cap and limited coverage is the only thing thing holding people back for the 100mbps plan.

On the other hand, the uncapped plans are awesome as well but again coverage issue..zzz

lol draconian cap...

fyi, time has VERY LIMITED access to provide their services to the malaysian population. to simply provide 100 Mbps at RM179 with a reasonable 100 GB cap is a freaking steal. let alone offering unlimited quota at 15 / 50 Mbps at RM179 is unbeatable.

time with 0.1% access to the malaysian geography and able to offer cheaper prices at faster speeds is just amazeballs.

it just sickens me when people come in here complaining about quota and coverage. get a clue.

thanks

100GB already more than enough for me. i don't think you got that much time to watch all the 100GB drama, movies, etc

unless you are sitting in front of the pc 24x7

That is the funny point of typical mindset, complaining but do not even know if they required that much of speeds. Oh well we do not need to argue as faggot as them though.

Then don't you feel that the 100mbps with 100GB is more of a gimmick than for consistent internet usage?Might as well just settle for 15mbps RM 179 unlimited so that you suddenly don't get buffering/slowdown on youtube and other high intensive usage.

As far as i can understand 100mbps with 100GB quota is not a freaking steal. It feels just like buying 100GB quota rather than a very fast internet.I personally feel that might as well don't introduce such a plan.

As far as limited coverage and cheaper prices go for TIME,are you saying TM with its large coverage(economies of scale) cannot provide cheaper prices?TBH i think TM just doesn't want to do it cuz they just don't give a damn.

I think TIME has smaller customer base but higher subscription rate to their services and i personally feel that they can do better than a 100GB cap.

TIME uses its own Fibre cable, perhaps it's the only provider in the market which is using 100% fibre into customer's premise.

TIME does not share/depend to others such as Unifi.

So there is no prob if you stil want to remain Unifi.

well said bro....agree with you.

consider 50Mbps standard package at rm399 which is a reasonable price, bear in mind tis has no quota limit....if u r particular for quota, then go for tis package.. no quota & happy downloading !

Might be a marketing gimmick, might be not, in the end, is quite nice to enjoy 100mbps of speed for some people. I don't think they can do much especially FO line are shared with Astro and they have to keep their promise on bandwitdh sharing, not to say International bandwidth is far more expensive than it seems.

But then, I think the after quota speed of 3-5mbps will be more reasonable than 1 mbps (or maybe free quota for local server, and thus finding loophole using proxy) , but who knows, competition may change the price/speed to even more tempting? In the end, competition start appearing thus shall be good for customer (Maxis 10mbps, Time 15 mbps, ) and hopefully can get cheaper in the long run, just hope quality of service is not affected.
