Dear jjj2,

After 2 weeks i think i found the reason for the internet lag. Its due to my ROUTER (Cisco Linksys E1200). When the internet slows down or something, i just restart it and all goes well. But its very irritating. 2 options here

1. Buy new router - any recommendations. Plan to do my own personal home cloud?

2. Get TIME to repair/replace it. I got UNIFI in another home in Subang and it works really fine despite its ugly looking color.

Thanks.

Hi Bro,

Linksys E1200 is not a good router, in fact those are familiar in networking will know that this router in fact has some known problems. It's even worse than the previous E1000.

Basically most of the Routers are compatible.
Budget wise, TP-Link WDR4300 (N750) is worth a consideration, or WDR4900 (N900).
You can go for better ones such as Netgear WNDR4500.
If you wanna go for 802.11ac, Netgear R6300 or Asus RT-AC66U. I'd advise for 802.11ac, just wait a while.

Of course if you ask Time replace a new router for you, save you some bucks lo... biggrin.gif

Feel free to buzz me should you have any enquiries.

Thanks.

Time Fibre + Astro IPTV subscriber here, 10mbps.

Right now, Astro working fine & showing no pixelated.

Internet access however fakap. Few days prior to this, router kind of wonky -- lost signal, slow connection, can't be find by my laptop, ipad, iphone.

This is router problem right?

If I want to buy new router since E1000 pretty basic, what model will be the best?

Do I need to contact TIME CS to configure my new router or I'll be fine doing it myself -- and how?

Thanks

Hi Bro,

You can buy your own Router. Alternatively you may ask Time to replace a new one for you.

Please check my PM for more details.

I thought I was the only one having Internet problems. o_O

Started having Internet connection issues from Monday night until now. My desktop and other devices can connect to the router but the router itself could not be connected to the Internet. Made a few calls to Astro IPTV services at night (since that's when I usually finish work), they promised to have someone call back within 2 hours but I usually get the call-back on the next day. The last advice I received from tech support was to try keying in my PPPoE username and password (which they provided) but even that couldn't get it connected.

It's frustrating to say the least. Have to rely on USB tethering on my smartphone for now while this issue gets resolved. :S

Hi Bro,

Sorry. Nope. This is ADSL2+ Modem Router.
You can setup this to become a Wireless-Switch but not a Wireless Router that performs the PPPOE Dialing to the Time ONU.

Thanks.

Hi JJ,
I guess that's what I mean. What I'm thinking, is to connect one of Huawei ONU's LAN ports to one of the DSL-2640T's LAN ports. I can then connect my devices/PCs to the DSL-2640T's WiFi, am I right?
Understand that the ADSL Modem can't be used to connect/dial into the TIME ONU.
I'll be getting the TIME Fibre Home set-up at the end of this month. Doing some homework for it. Converting from TM Streamyx.
Thanks.

Hi Bro,

It should be connecting one of the E1200 LAN Port to the LAN Port of the DSL-2640T & disable its DHCP.

I believe the provided E1200 will be able to take care of your requirements sufficiently. That's no need to use the DSL-2640T.

Thanks.

Hi JJ,
Haha. I knew you would think why should I think of using the DSL-2640T when E1200 is available. Well, probably just a backup plan in case the E1200 doesn't perform well. smile.gif
Thanks a lot for your advices. Very helpful you are.

Hi Bro,

Well, DSL-2640T can't be used to replace E1200. It will work as a Wireless Switch only when it's depending on E1200, you cant use it to connect to the Time ONU. It doesn't work that way.

Need not worry, our 24-Hours CS will be available to assist you in case you have any problem.

If they are not able to assist you, just buzz me. I'm ready to help smile.gif

Have a wonderful Sunday smile.gif

Cheers !
