Hi,
If TIME is not competing price wise, how will it attract new customers?
Because fence sitters like me would judge from price & speed.

Now I've pushed my Maxis installment till September to give me more time to make decision and have a wait and see approach to see whether TIME & Unifi will have an offer soon.
TIME is a bit too expensive and their price & speed points are a bit off.

Maxis 10mb = RM118
TIME 2mb = RM119
TIME 6mb = RM159
Unifi 5mb = RM150

Why doesn't TIME offer 4mb?
I reckon it would cost around RM140 which would be awesome as it would be in between Maxis & Unifi.
I would definitely take up 4mb.

To go down from my current 4mb to 2mb (RM119) is too slow!!
To go up to 6mb (RM159) is too expensive!!

You said earlier that they will improve on speed.
Does it mean they will introduce different speeds?
Or increase the speeds for the current price?

I'm living in a landed property btw in Cheras Selatan.
Does TIME cover my area?

I think you need to consider that Time's 2 Mbps line also includes 30 hours of speed boost to 10 Mbps for when you want to download stuff. I've been on Time for 2 months+ so far and I only use around 20 hours of boost a month from 6 Mb to 10 Mb under the Astro IPTV package.

Likewise I only encounter disconnections only twice so far in 2 months+, in addition to having low pings (30-40ms to SG game servers), no throttling, no download quotas, it's stuff like these that makes Time an awesome internet service provider. rclxms.gif

Some random speedtests which i just did, decent results in the Asian region but it's a bit spotty compared to overseas.

Time Fibre + Astro IPTV subscriber here, 10mbps.

Right now, Astro working fine & showing no pixelated.

Internet access however fakap. Few days prior to this, router kind of wonky -- lost signal, slow connection, can't be find by my laptop, ipad, iphone.

This is router problem right?

If I want to buy new router since E1000 pretty basic, what model will be the best?

Do I need to contact TIME CS to configure my new router or I'll be fine doing it myself -- and how?

Thanks

I thought I was the only one having Internet problems. o_O

Started having Internet connection issues from Monday night until now. My desktop and other devices can connect to the router but the router itself could not be connected to the Internet. Made a few calls to Astro IPTV services at night (since that's when I usually finish work), they promised to have someone call back within 2 hours but I usually get the call-back on the next day. The last advice I received from tech support was to try keying in my PPPoE username and password (which they provided) but even that couldn't get it connected.

It's frustrating to say the least. Have to rely on USB tethering on my smartphone for now while this issue gets resolved. :S

Thanks jjj2. Any TIME users here kind enough to do a ping to any London servers with speedtest? Just want to compare with my UNIFI.

Here you go. Speedtest on a 10 Mbps TIME connection (Astro package) through Vodafone's London server. smile.gif

I've just received an email saying I've been offered 2,000 free minutes (valid for a year) from TIME Voice Astro service. Been thinking about it for a while since my household doesn't have a fixed line, but then again we only use our handphones since we dumped TM about 4-5 years ago.

Anybody who got this same offer?

Hi Bro,

You must have subscribed for the Time Voice for Astro, RM10/month (10 Plan) for 1 year (minimum contract) ?

Thanks.
*
Hmmm I've not subscribed to it. That's why I was wondering if I have to commit RM10 per month if I take up this offer, or if it's pay-as-you-use which I prefer.

how come time don't do like maxis fiber? Tap on TM's fiber backbone and then they can service all areas that have fiber. I want to switch my unifi to fiber but they just don't offer their service for teres house... sad.gif

If TIME hop on TM backbone that means they'll be directly competing with Maxis already. If you have Unifi and want to change, why not try Maxis Fibre instead? You can get their Maxis Astro IPTV package too. smile.gif

Just curious, I would thought the upload speed should be almost the same as the download speed?

So the max upload speed for a 100 Mb/s package is 50 Mb/s? smile.gif

Hi Bro,
Theoretically this should be more or less the same as GPON DWDM is utilizing different wavelength (λ) to carry both upstream & downstream.
Time Gpon for FTTH is based on ITU G.984 which specifies 2.488Gbps downstream & 1.244Gbps upstream.

So your download & upload speed differences that you test varies at any given of time as your package speed goes higher. (You may not notice much difference at lower packages).

PM me if you need more details.

Thanks.

Thanks for the explanation, jjj2. I'm currently on Astro+TIME IPTV, so I don't think I'll have a chance at trying out TIME's 100 Mbps package. Good to know that it exists though! biggrin.gif

If you are using SEA server (SG), the ping is relatively low around 30-50ms...For US, depending on state, it's somewhere around 1xx--2xxms

Thanks.

On a 10 Mbps line and tried a Speedtest to New Jersey server in the US. Not bad ping considering the huge distance.

The Time/Astro staff called my wife offering her a speed boost to 50/30 MBPS for 6 months free but my wife not really understand those terms, can explain more here? We are on iptv now.
*
From what I heard it's a free upgrade to 12 Mbps for 6 months. After the 6 months, you can either keep it and pay for the 12 Mbps package, or revert back to your original 6 Mbps speed and pay the original price. Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

I received the promotion too but I turned down the offer. Already on the promotional 10 Mbps package. smile.gif
