yes u can do that. talk to him if he need it. After the contract expire you can terminate and he can apply under his own name then.

Last Saturday afternoon, suddenly no light at all on my modem (white).
Orange router (orange) still got lights.

I called the Tech Support yesterday afternoon since I thought it's just a glitched.

Just now Unifi technician came and said the power adapter kaput doh.gif
Replaced with a new one.
Got connection again.

Exactly after a month (installed 12th January 2012) already 'kaput'?
And during that period....frequent disconnection; 'Optical' lights went red doh.gif

TM NEVER ceased to 'disappoint' us whistling.gif

i learned this from my installation. Now i help my friend to help to plan for installation. you can do the same then get an external contractor or friend to do for you.

The path of installation usually same. The most important is the fibre optic cable from outside after the router you can customize how you want. if you wait for the TM contractor to come they will slaugther you kao kao.

if you plan to pull network cable then buy the cable ready its about RM30 - 25M then u let them charge you labour. The rest you supply.

You provide the path you get them to do termination and setting up only. They have devices to test the quality of the line and stuff so dont let them give u bull crap reasons.
Alternative you can get a good router like Asus RT56U and a 300mbps wireless adapter its as stable as wired for my test.

My case they quote me labour Rm150 + network cable RM5 per metre

TM contractor = Labour RM150 + 25M (RM125) = RM275 just to pull a 25M cable

External =  labour RM100 + 25M network cable ( RM30) = RM130 just to pull a 25M cable.

If pulling a long network cable, it's better to get a Homeplug which no need labour charge, cheaper, plug & play & more tidy. biggrin.gif

depends on your house. Some house got 3phase doesnt work happen before. I still prefer network wire 100gbps lol. Remember its using a plug? if lightning strike what might happen?

pro and cons are here

Advantages of Using DD-WRT firmware

The router gets increased stability
Less lockups/crashes
Less connection drops (I'm looking at you, generic VPN protocol!)
Support for a larger amount of concurrent connections
The ability to increase your wifi signal strength (stock firmware has really weak wifi transmit power)

Disadvantages of Using DD-WRT firmware

Unifi home users (VIP5/10/20) lose IPTV access
You lose TM support for your Unifi service (it was pretty much non-existent in the first place!)
You probably void the warranty on the router
You might brick the router if you don't know what you're doing

Hmm just wanna check with you guys - been getting about 100KB/s+ less speed over the past 2 weeks.

VIP10. Used to be able to get over 1MB/s. Now even with multiple threads, i get around 800-900KB/s.

Speedtest.net shows my download at 9.x Mbit. Previously it could hit 10.x

What can I do?

as of this year, id say unifi service has become so damn bad. every now and then I'd be facing some 10 minute offlines, and they just tend to connect and disconnect quite frequently. living in kota kemuning shah alam btw. id say im facing this shit like everyday.

really frustrated becoz pay so much for 10mb, yet get this kind of service. not to mention, i just moved to new house, some more gotta pay additional rm300 for so called new optical fibre bullshit.

where can lodge a massive complaint haa?

Guys, need info from some you here who terminate their Streamyx acc after installing Unifi. How did you all get back your deposit? Do they minus from the last outstanding charges just like the phone line termination? Im getting mixed information from TM staffs.
