Have you guys heard of fancy cache? http://www.romexsoftware.com/en-us/fancy-cache/

You can cache all your date from your HD onto your SSD/ram-disk; kind of like the OCZ synapse.

Seems like all these caching programs and new hardware are going to be the next big thing.

your score still very high....i am using Corsair Force 3 120GB Sata 3 on Sata 2 port but only managed to get 167MB read and 100MB write. I got a few question want to ask expert here as below:

a) Will it because my mobo dont support ACHI so the speed is so slow?
b) Any effect by using it for dual OS booting? Using it with 3 partitions : OSX Lion 1| Lion 2| Win7
c) besides, TRIM is enabled inside Win 7. This partition is about 60GB. But inside OSX cant support TRIM. In this situation, TRIM is covered 60GB under Win 7 or is covered whole SSD?
*
As your force 3 will only run on ide mode not even sata 1 speed.Currently running force GT 90GB & 120GB on sata 2 board with 280MB read and 272MB write, that's the max speed a sata 2 ssd can get.TRIM is enable only when you set it on win 7(even without achi),not the entire ssd.

Ps:Ts,pls look for post #77(page 4) to be include in the list.

Guys, would something like a Crucial M4 feel faster in real life situations compared to a Intel G2 ?
I was wondering whether the speed is noticeable or not since the M4 is about 2 times faster than the G2 in Crystaldiskmark

In fact raid0 M4 vs G2 would not make any difference at all.
All of them have less than 1 ms access time.
but buying these M4s is not a waste, coz i use it for competition like PCMark7 & won prizes biggrin.gif

by right if using normally without breaking the benchmarks, G2 and M4 wont make any different as they r SSD and u will feel faster then conventional HDD

thanks for your info. mind to tell me why my SSD only running on IDE mode? is it because of motherboard limitation?

I am using budget mobo below:

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-p...spx?pid=3960#ov

Both hardisk seem like display as ATA device. but i do have SATA controller on my mobo

Read post #137.
Your board has 4 x SATA 3Gb/s connectors supporting up to 4 SATA 3Gb/s devices .
After change in Windows and BIOS (AHCI),you must install Intel® Rapid Storage Manager (10.8.0.1003):
http://downloadmirror.intel.com/20710/eng/...10.8.0.1003.exe

yes i did all the tips about SSD and optimization. ACHI inside my WIndows 7 is on but no effect due to my mobo don't have ACHI features.
now just wonder why my SSD is running at ATA speed. hmm.gif

update your mobo chipset driver aka INF.
G41 mobo supports IDE only but won't be that far behind AHCI.
i'd say the mobo as well as the CPU are limiting the speed.

SSD in IDE vs AHCI

yup. updated to latest INF still the same..... rclxub.gif

at first i thought since it got SATA 2 port sure will have SATA's speed. din't know G41 only support IDE speed on SATA's port. kinda weird biggrin.gif

but still that the best new LGA775 mobo i can buy from the shop since no more mid-high range LGA775 mobo in production anymore.

still kinda waste under utilized so much more. sweat.gif sweat.gif

It's ok. The SSD is still playing its role to be A LOT faster than any conventional HDD. Access/seek time under 1ms is more important & noticeable during apps loading.

+1

All this chasing for top performance seems quite unnecessary, because 90% of the performance difference that you can feel can be had with any SSD. It'll be an extremely rare occasion when you can feel the value of 500MB/s read/write.

Houston, we have a problem.

Shufflerz | Samsung 470 Series | 256GB

Here's the story.
I did a fresh OS install on THIS M17X in the SSD.
Once installed, without any setting, straight away I CrystalDiskMark and get this.
user posted image

After that I checked on bios and I realized it is on RAID mode instead of AHCI.
Immediately I changed it and did another fresh install.
And after installed all the drivers, I did the optimization thingy on 1st post, and this is what I get.
user posted image

Drop performance after optimized?
Enlighten me.

The optimization steps sometimes can hurt the performance.
I'm not sure which step is the culprit may be u could sort it out one by one with restore point set or revert to default settings. hmm.gif

I don't have overwhelmed PC knowledge, so some settings I just blindly follow only.
What setting are you using?

i followed exactly all the steps from the Optimization Guide; except for the pagefile in which i needed it for some games ie. Dirt3 etc...
then the SSD gives lower score than before optimization.

I did not turn off the write buffer thingy.
Because during 1st run with buffer off, the result is worse, get like 7;12 for 4k write. shakehead.gif
