QUOTE(negisf @ May 19 2012, 06:33 PM)
Recently I signed up for the u-mobile broadband plans and bought the 21mps wifi modem. However I'm not satisfied with the connectivity and coverage for u-mobile.
Then I tried to put back my maxis sim card into the umobile wifi modem device, but then I got the message that this device is network lock. I tried calling umobile but they refuse to Give me the pin. So my question is there anyway I can unlock the device?
Or I'm stuck with using umobile service with the modem?
*
What model is the modem? smile.gif
WiFi Modem, I assume it is a MiFi ya?
If it is Huawei, the chances can be unlocked are still high but then I seldom see any MiFi unlockers at online.

If you not satisfied with the speed, you can cancel it, there is 7 days trial period.

For MIFI MF60 from umobile, you need to wait until contract finish before can get the PIN. You buying at discounted price so they have right to lock the modem.

Yes, it's a mifi modem.
Not huawei, but the brand is ZTE.

It's not that the speed I'm not satisfied. It's just that sometimes its hard to get connectity. Seems like their coverage is still in building up stage.
I already passed the 7 days period. So canceling during the trials not possible.
So does it means that after 6 months (which is the contract) period,
They will have to give me the device pin?

because they afraid u bought it for selling purpose, same to their 42Mbps ZTE MF680 modem.

some modem having limited unlocking attempt chances, so also got to take notice of that.

with the little omni antenna i managed to get umts900 in my area on my e367

without the antenna, umts 900 is not DETECTED

but umts900 here is not strong

morale of my story, umts900 is present but without the proper device our modem cannot detect it, but then again its speed sucks, who need it anyway?

Attached Image

why need umts900 when u can get thsi speed on umts2100

Yes, stuck with them. They'll only give you the code after a few months. Just return it lar within 7 days.
Like i did. But money still not coming back yet...almost 45 days...then i file report to MCMC.

phone is not suitable to replace mifi unless u are using it less than 3~4 hour, otherwise the battery die faster than you expect, some mifi model able to remove battery to power on, but phone cannot do so hmm.gif
