QUOTE(hellsphinx @ Feb 18 2012, 12:31 AM) guys...wanna ask something, Heat also depend on your location. If you use your modem in area where the line is weak, the modem will use more power to transfer the data and produce more heats.does higher modem capability (3.6 ~ 42Mbps) equates to higher heat production? if it does, then umobile, yes and other 42Mbps modems are risky to be left overnite is it? That's always happen to me when I use my modem at kampung. But not much heat if use at KL. Here is a sample for my modem Yellow signal (2 bar) RSSI: -81.01dBm CINR: 11.13/8.83(R3/R1)dB TX power: 6dBm - 9dBm I move it, Red signal (1 bar) RSSI: -85.42dBm CINR: 6.84/3.77(R3/R1)dB TX power: 17dBm - 20dBm This post has been edited by nordingh: Feb 18 2012, 01:07 PM |

QUOTE(digilife @ Apr 5 2012, 01:17 AM) MiFi dun work very well cause they utilise battery power, For highspeed you will need optimum power to power the chip, if possible use a USB modem on a MR3420 if you really wifi, or else just buy E372 and plug direct into your PC's usb port. QUOTE(fruitie @ Apr 5 2012, 01:21 AM) Well, get a router is the best if you are not a frequent traveller. Even for person like me who travels quite often also get a router and been transporting my router to and fro my hometown for more than 1 year. I can't do that... I really need a portable modem... cos I travel a lots, every week actually... I have 2 houses.... Finally got a new router last Friday and now I can permanently place my old router back in my hometown, for good. I need to share my connection with my family... at night or when my wife not working or during school holiday. When I on standby, I must make sure I have an internet connection no matter where am I... I need to response in less than 10 minutes anytime... Right now using big and bulky P1 modem... I have a special bag for it so easy for me to move between 2 houses. When I out, I have a backup BB on my galaxy tab... sometime this BB I just pay for nothing... use 1GB from 3GB. I not really need high speed connection, even my 1Mbps P1 already enough right now but I need at least 15GB data every month... I have huawei E1552 usb modem as backup, free from maxis. The speed... like turtle.. |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Apr 5 2012, 02:03 AM) These days routers are getting smaller and look like a MiFi. I know... but still don't have time to look for it. I need something simple, even my 9 years kid will know how to use..Added on April 5, 2012, 2:04 amSurprisingly my Maxis' speed is flying like a rocket. (I still have PCMCIA modem, which don't know what to do already with it) This post has been edited by nordingh: Apr 5 2012, 02:13 AM |

QUOTE(wkkm007 @ May 1 2012, 11:01 PM) Nothing written on the cable.. I also don't have cable tester with me now to test.Do you really need Cat6 cable... are you running a server with gigabit network from end to end? Even my office not fully use Cat6 yet but all staff given cat6 cable. The best cable is the shortest one, cos that will reduce the crosstalk and less data re-transmission. Wanna to ask... Does Maxis have HSDPA+ all place now? I mean main city area cos what I found only a few small have it.
QUOTE 5. Will I get HSPA+ everywhere? At the moment, HSPA+ is only available in certain areas of Taman Johor Jaya (Johor Bahru) & Taman Tun Dr. Ismail (KL). Currently we are running a friendly user trial (FUT) with a selected a group of users to evaluate the stability of the technology and user experience. 6. What is the difference in the service I’m subscribing to now? The current package will not allow you to have HSPA+ services. If you are interested to subscribe, you will need to upgrade your current plan when the service is made available commercially. You do not need to change your SIM card. 7. How do I get selected for the trial? The current selection will be by invitation only. 8. When will HSPA+ will be widely available? We are now performing a technical evaluation on the technology. Once we have certain the technology is stable, the network will be rolled out in phases. We will inform our customer when the plan is ready. That's all info I have now. I want the best mobile broadband. EDIT: found this too.. QUOTE Maxis has just announced that starting April 20, 2012, it will be offering a host of prepaid and postpaid data plans that cater exclusively for Apple’s new iPad. In order to take advantage of Maxis’ HSPA+ Dual Carrier technology, it is offering the choice of 3.5GB, 6GB or a whopping 15GB packages starting from as low as RM60. In addition to this, existing iPad data customers may also upgrade their quota as needed. This post has been edited by nordingh: May 13 2012, 10:14 AM |

QUOTE(coolstore @ May 16 2012, 11:38 AM) it is good that u clearly stated "above just link speed between PC and the cellular network device", not actual real time network traffic speed. otherwise some members can't figure these info, thinking "wah, this is download speed ar i want get it" then go buy it, after using it know that now work out, and label this is misleading info to them complaining somewhere else... So true cos I have experience it before...My fren say his internet so slow.. so I ask, why he use and what is the speed he getting... answer... 'Use Maxis, speed 100Mbps...' Another one is.. (this one use streamyx) 'My LAN port kaput , shop ask me to buy USB LAN card. Already use it, the speed now I get is 100Mbps but why still slow like before' (his original port 10Mbps only) take me hours to explain to them. |

QUOTE(negisf @ May 19 2012, 06:33 PM) Recently I signed up for the u-mobile broadband plans and bought the 21mps wifi modem. However I'm not satisfied with the connectivity and coverage for u-mobile. If you not satisfied with the speed, you can cancel it, there is 7 days trial period. Then I tried to put back my maxis sim card into the umobile wifi modem device, but then I got the message that this device is network lock. I tried calling umobile but they refuse to Give me the pin. So my question is there anyway I can unlock the device? Or I'm stuck with using umobile service with the modem? For MIFI MF60 from umobile, you need to wait until contract finish before can get the PIN. You buying at discounted price so they have right to lock the modem. |
