Sure! No problem. smile.gif I have a couple of drummers who are already going to be doing most of the work on the demos/EP (and myself), but I'd basically just like to know as many other musicians as possible as well (for future projects, perhaps?)

Perhaps we could liaise via PM or email (isaacmiranda@live.com.my)? It'd be great if I could know your style/experience as a drummer, etc.

About a month ago, I know nothing about drums/drumming. ZERO.

In the past three weeks, I spent so much time on the net and visiting shops here and there looking for a drum set with pretty much no inkling of what I was actually looking for. There are shops which I walked in ... browse for 30 minutes or so ... without a single person saying "Hi!"  to me tongue.gif

I initially had a budget of RM2k for the drums set. But I have spent more than that. I had a lot of questions. And all were answered by a nice chap from whom I bought the PDP Concept series from.

Amongst the drums I came across in these three weeks, DW, PDP, Yamaha, Tama, Pearl, Mapex, Grestch, Sonor, Cadeson, Ludwig, Premier, Dixon and Stagg. And my wife's cousin has a DDrum birch. Can't remember which model.
I want to start with a 5 piece kit. And until today, even after I bought the the PDP concept series, I have to say the sounds from Gretsch Catalina Maple is awesome... esp from the bass drum.

You can find Ludwig, Tama and Pearl at Bentley Music Bukit Bintang.

There's a second hand Cadeson drum set at Amcop Mall basement. Retailing at below RM2k.
[attachmentid=3220408]

DW, PDP and Gretsch at JS Music Jln Imbi

Stagg and Sonor at Ultimate Music Jln Imbi

Mapex at Mahogany Music in SS2, PJ

Pearl and Premier at Ikano Power Centre top floor. Can't remember the name of the place.

Dixon Drums at Drumstore in Paradigm Mall PJ [Kelana Jaya]. They also have a Roland electronic drum set on display.

Music Master has a two sets of drums stacked up and a PDP Z5 in a box. Most probably for delivery.

Burgercis has electronic drums @ 7th floor Berjaya Times Square.

And there's a number of places online which you can search for drums.

Searching/auditioning/deciding for Cymbals is much more difficult. tongue.gif

Hope this helps if anyone wants to do some shopping for drums. And Merry Christmas everyone!!! smile.gif

I made a mistake ... it was a Grestch Renown set. The Kick is awesome. There's a set on display at JS Music. The Satin Black finish is quite a looker too.

I have a snare tuning question/problem. I can't seem to eliminate the "boomy" sound. Me and my wife have tried tightening and loosening the lugs for the batter head but there is still that slight boomy sound associated with toms.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

It could be your snare wires. smile.gif But probably your drum heads. smile.gif Try a different drumhead.

I always felt that snares should sound ... err ... I mean you should hear the vibration from the snare wires MINUS any boomy sound.
Mine is like you can hear the normal vibrations from the snare wires PLUS there's a slight boomy sound ... like those from the rack tom. And it sorta like echoes a bit.

I am just just describing it the way I know how tongue.gif Sorry if it sounds confusing ... sweat.gif
