5p3ak, Thanks for the recommendation. JS Music is indeed a nice place to browse and look at drums. Bought two sets of Vic Firth drumsticks. My wife likes them. As for drums we are considering PDP Mainstage and PDP Z5.

The Sales Manager, Ray Lang recommended Z5.

Me and my wife know nuts about drums; so both of us decided to delay the purchase until later. She is just into her fifth drum lesson tongue.gif

Well, its not that Bentley's is a no-no place. You could always browse there, or JS Music, or Music Master. smile.gif
If you'd like some discounts PM me. smile.gif

Thanks for the offer. We will let you know once we have decided on the make and model. Currently we are somewhat overwhelmed by the choices available.

You're welcome. smile.gif I'm also letting go of a used set. It's a Ludwig Epic, still in extremely good condition. Do let me know if you're interested in this as well. Thanks!

On another note, should I go for a Ludwig Acrolite or a Pearl Omar Hakim Signature, or a Pork Pie Mahogany/Birch snare? HAHA. Your thoughts, guys?

Haha no problem,

IMO I prefer M5 mainly because it's Maple and has a Lacquered finish. icon_rolleyes.gif

Bentley sells mainly Pearl and Tama Drums, both are also big companies...though I prefer Tama...cuz pearl's mounting system(The part where it fix the tom to bass drum) sucks laugh.gif

I'd say if you can hear them in person will be the best. What kind of characteristics are you looking for/at? hmm.gif

However I've never heard anything but good things about Acrolites. thumbup.gif

I'm letting go for RM2.6k. Four toms, can be configured to 3 rack toms and one floor tom or two rack toms and two floor toms. Basically, I've only used it once for a recording session, it's in perfect condition. I stay in a condominium, so there's no use if I just keep it around in boxes. smile.gif Retail is RM4090.

The set includes hardware (stands and pedal), four toms and one bass drum. I'll throw in any snare of your choice at a 20% discount. smile.gif

The M5 certainly is a pretty good kit. It's pretty much the same as the X7, which is a relatively good drumset for the price.

I'm looking for something versatile. Either something that's versatile and sounds good with loads of tunings/head choices (Omar Hakim), or something so unique and distinct that it can work with everything (Acrolite).

May I know the colour of the Ludwig Epic set? It's a very tempting offer.

guys. i want to ask u guys something.
can u guys hit the hi hat with 8th notes at 180bpm?
is it possible without any technique and just normal stroke.
cause i search how to develop hihat speed. they teach u a technique but not speed itself.

so my question is anyone can hit fast like 180bpm with "normal" technique @8th notes?

Firstly, ALL drumming needs technique. There is no such thing a no technique. smile.gif HAHA.

And you can't learn speed. Speed is something that develops with proper technique (even bad ones, occasionally), good form and practice. The reason why they teach you technique, is cause once you got the basics down at a slow speed, you'll maintain the same thing at faster levels, and your body will be able to cope more with it.

What is your definition of normal technique?

And yes, I can hit it. wink.gif

Of course it's possible...with both hands tongue.gif

Sorry can't resist, speed is a by product of control so you must start slow and able to control it then slowly speed up. biggrin.gif

I can't do it with 1 hand yet though...max around 140-150 blush.gif

Eh so you are snare-less? laugh.gif

Aiya just flip a coin, both also great drums but I'd say wood is slightly "Pleasing to the ears"...not so much fatigue on the ears.

Hope you get what I mean. biggrin.gif

I have just decided. smile.gif I will be going for a Supra. wink.gif

Anyway, I've started a new project with a bunch of other talented young musicians from Malaysia. Please do support this project by liking it on facebook at facebook.com/the12project and following it on Twitter at @the12band . You can find out more about the musicians on the page itself. smile.gif

We're also giving away a free Stardust Fuzz pedal made by Malaysia's very own Lynessmy. All you have to do is to just like the page, and tell us what you would like to see from the local music scene. The post with the most likes will receive the fuzz! smile.gif This can be the perfect Christmas present for a friend or a loved one, and the best part is that its free!

We're working on a crowdfunding basis, where if you decide to support the project in kind, you will receive free merchandise and downloads in return! More details are available at http://www.facebook.com/notes/the-12-proje...171227876356469 . Thanks!

normal technique means is the way u first learn to play drums. very constant no accent.
but most of the people suggest using Moeller Technique
that's why i duno if the "normal" stroke can get so fast.
