ammonia spike , normally due to overfeed , bacteria dying/inadequate , disturbed soil , and if using
ADA soil it is famous for ammonia spike till it mature.

my ADA soiled tank all matured no more ammonia spike , other tank zero ammonia except the 3ft still cycling,
cherry is very very hardy, you try CRS, sure die. But if your PH is low, those are safe ammonia so should be ok, or
you can add in water conditioner like seachem prime which neutralize ammonia & nitrite. You will still detect
ammonia in water but those already be neutralized.
You done anything drastic to your tank like moving stone/decor/plant around? or introduce fish that dig the soil, or
some crazy otto's like mine which like to torpedo around in the tank hitting all things, i think it killed a coupled of my
shrimps this way.

Fyi, my still cycling 3ft using benibachi & contro soil combine, ammonia level is 0.25ppm.-0.50ppm , those test kit color hard to determine.
@@ 'mata pun pusing' looking at them.

Any fish like SAE you keep with the shrimps?, my SAE attack/kill/eat a couple or more of my molted shrimps, now
those fella be banished to crayfish tank thumbup.gif .
Did you overdose BW Vigor? never experience dead cos by using it so far.
What kind of foods you feed your shrimps, too much/only feed of high protein foods may lead to molting problem.
Btw do you know your water PH, KH & GH level ?

I dont have any fish with them..
Yup i overdose vigor n dance last time..almost half of them died..
JBL ph 8, API dgh21, SERA ammonia 0.25..still finding ways in lowering hardness..
I feed them with BW bebi, BW barley mostly because they dont like shirakura very much..

wow, you really want to be grandpa like fishmen,
Your GH is skyrocket high , and ppl said it prevent/reduce breeding in shrimps,
you shouldn't dose vigor + dance as dance is more potent version of vigor in liquid form,
it like taking 50mg Vi*gra and half hour later take 200mg more, sure bust.

JBL manado ? i do a Google search, review is bad, all claim increase GH sky high, prevent breeding etc
and it look like truth cos your statistics ( ph 8, API dgh21)
It is a new tank ? cos ammonia shouldn't be detected in cycled tank.
PH 8 ,from your tap water or the soil induce PH 8?
You can also try boiled organic spinach beside processed foods.
more read - > http://www.aquascapingworld.com/threads/jb...o-reviews.5257/

Your shrimps have molting problems cos of the high GH.
Vigor/Dance induce them to molt but the high GH make it really hard for them to do so,
Your shrimps surely die of exhaustion.

Exactly, as the soil underneath the driftwood is still fresh and accumulating lot of waste as well.

congra.. go check the berried shrimp to confirm.
Hmm...can't seem to find the berried female. hmm.gif If she has un-berried, I wouldn't be able to recognise her from the rest.
Anyway didn't spot any shrimplets lately. Do shrimplets tend to hide most of the time?
