sorry too much arowana reading. lol

how about crs/golden white? anyway to spot?
"mini lobster" it will consume all fish and shrimps if you got outstation. maybe he will take them as snacks from time to time

Wow...I think any shrimp will run the risk of being a snack for the mini lobster (also called a crayfish right?).

I actually meant this.

Btw, I realize my 1ft tank temperature and 3.5ft tank temperature differs by 2 celcius. 1ft tank is 29.9 while 3.5ft is 27.9. I don't know if I can keep any shrimp at all other than ghost which is not desired.

more info ,
1) what soil you using?
2) KH reading?

your above case look like ph swing normally due to low KH.

Hmm forget which soil i use a japan brand soil for plant, i never really measure the KH. Does it matters it?
Or is the 2 feet tank to big . SO that i need to increase the PH to get it stable.

but do you confirm your ph swing that much , if that the case try put two around 3-4cm long coral stone in the filter,
this will increase KH & PH , will help buffer your water at the time being, how long you using the soil?
japan soil the famous one is ADA soil. ADA soil normally low induce ph during the initial setup period.

I actually have another 2ft tank with a crayfish, angel fish and some tetras. Then I added RM1 of ghost shrimps inside (RM1 can get you A LOT of those shrimps). Their number dwindled down to maybe 3-4 now as most of them ended up as snacks for the angel fish & the crayfish.

Thanks so much for sharing! It's so exciting seeing so many shrimps. I understand now why sang gemok is so into your shrimps. I want to be a grandpa...fast!
Love the big bushy xmas moss as well. You need to tie that to a driftwood or something to get that effect?

ya, tight to the tree like driftwood from the beginning, from picture 1 & 2 the x'moss is already on top the tree trunk , after a year it take over the tree top and become current bushy look.

erm, actually, if you seen the branches are wide apart, and front tip is growing upwards, it is java moss. i dont see any xmas moss in your tank pic 3 and 4.
picture 5 has too small images i cant see clearly.

This situation is very common in malaysia.
i had seen alive selling java moss as xmas moss to his clients too. me and gf just keep quite when the dishonest seller saying that.

this is what happening to us. sometimes, shop assistant doesnt know what time of moss they are selling. If supplier said it's xmass moss, that's what they should tell buyer. when they sell it in small patch, we cant figure out exactly what type of moss is it. sweat.gif
