There are many check to be done no your water condition before you put in your shrimp. It is not like putting the fish in the tank. Please google how to set up shrimp tank. Should start on cheaper shrimp 1st instead of CRS. U throw money in the drain if you dont have any experience at all.

Check out this facebook... friends shrimp malaysia, looks like he is conducting training how to set up shrimp tank.

First questions - Your tank cycled ?
- using any soil for your tank?
-changing water won't solve ph problem.

yes if you can cos you need the master test kit to test for ammonia, nitrite , ph etc. please read e about tank cycle first, it seem your tank not cycled yet, ADA soil , 3 week if total new media , high possibility not cycle yet.
Don't buy any shrimps if your tank not cycle yet , all will died sooner or later. Your shrimps died not only ph low but also due to poisoning from uncycled tank.

On the subject of dying shrimps...

Lost another 2 adults + some shrimplets after my week long vacation. The idiot cleaner kicked out the power plug and filter was off for the whole week and with the window blinds being out of position due to the recent typhoon, my tank's an algae mess.

My question is... should I stop feeding so the remaining shrimps eat these stuff (they seems to picking at it from time to time).

3 adults left in a ~7 liter tank

Those look like BBA to me, try spot treat with seachem excel ,
biological control : Apple snails eat them but will lost interest on it once other food are available.
Malaya Shrimp , some said will eat it , i don;t have BBA so can't verify/test although i got lot of malaya.
Taiwan don't think so can get malaya. so your option is 'Excel'.

can buy those battery & dc operated air pump as emergency use.
Normally during those kind situation , a bigger tank will have advantages over small one due to high surface and water volume.

Hi Arrow,

Actually the shrimps will die of high temp or low O2 in this situation? air pump can help surface agitation but won't solve the high temp problem...

Higher the water temp, the lower is the oxygen content.

air pump not only agitate water surface but to provide o2 which are getting less when temp raise, that why you can't keep your oxygen filled bag of
shrimp or fish in your car for long period and when posting shrimp/fish, need to put ice bag in Styrofoam box to stable the temp.

I bought Malayan shrimps from @arrow last Saturday. Within 3 days, it has returned to its beautiful color after settling down in my tank. With such amazing outcome, I went to get additional shrimps from him.

Besides getting awesome shrimps, expect UNEXPECTED freebies too.

ok, I'm wondering if I can OFF the cooling fan and ON the air pump 24x7, for a week or 2, when I'm on business trip out of the country... no one at home but mom/sis can only help to top up the water over weekends, the temperature can go up to 30-31C, will the shrimps survive? blush.gif

LOL. When first I got it in the plastic bag, mostly are light and grey color tones, but when i drop them off the big tanks, each of them will react and change to diff colors. and right now, mostly are dark brown with golden lining.

According to Aarow, malaya shrimps color will change according to your water parameter brows.gif brows.gif
