Hi, another question here...
Is Neocaridina enough to clear the Algae or need to put in some Caridina (Amano/Yamato) for that purpose and if it is ok mix both in the same tank? Thanks |

The 2 dead on Saturday were both female just gave birth (one RCS, one Rili)
All are adult shrimps, found some empty shells, could it be bad molt? There is also Planaria in the tank, but Planaria killing adult shrimps? The tiny shrimplets still ok though... This post has been edited by calvinyoon: Apr 15 2013, 07:28 PM |

QUOTE(arrow @ Apr 17 2013, 01:39 AM) bad molt and planaria both kill shrimps, shrimps are more vulnerable to planaria/fish attack just after they molt as the body is still soft. ADA Amazonia soil mix with black sand and gravel...Bad molt may due to lot of reason , one most common is low water GH. Try provide more info like which soil used? water ph ? kh , gh and tds if possible. and i can confirm No-Planaria won't kill Nematode. It will kill Hydra though. Don't have tool to check PH, and GH, but i dose MgSO4 and CaNO3 dry fert follow EI, for months, and it is fine until last week. It is 1 feet tank. I did 3 dose of No Planaria for 3 days, can't see Planaria so far, either hiding deep into the substrate or dead... going to do 40% water change this evening. Touch wood, so far no casualty on the adult shrimp, the tiny shrimplets still don't know... Any other precaution i need to take? |

QUOTE(lily64my @ May 21 2013, 10:34 AM) Red Fire or cherry shrimp - they are more affordable for beginners. I hv tried many times but never knew the reason they died all at the same time. yeah, even RCS is sensitive to GH and PH, in my tank, 1 or 2 die on and off, particularly when I started to inject CO2, still don't seem to be able to get the optimum water condition |

I think increase C02 will cause the water to become more acidic, PH drop...

QUOTE(arrow @ May 22 2013, 01:49 AM) IMHO , If you will only to keep neocaridina type shrimps like cherry, rili , fire red , yellow, PH is not that important as they can adapt to it, the one you need to take care of is the GH and TDS , try to attain a GH of 6 to 8 and a higher TDS of 200++. However if you will to increase your tank existing GH and TDS , try to do it gradually. Currently, I dose MgSO3 and CaNO3 follow EI...Products like seachem equilibrium , UP aqua GH UP , Borneowild GH UP , Mosura Mineral Plus will either increase GH or TDS or both. Cheap old man solutions will be using coral stone in the filter but you can't control the PH/GH/TDS that it keep increasing in the long run if this method be employed. |
