i feed them quality food , youliang got all those food. he will able to maintain the color.
i have blue jelly , palmata and fire red to let some out, fire yellow pulled back, suffer some mass death(now under control, need to rebuild the colony first).

One malaya produce hundred of larvae, they are so tiny, they can't eat brine shrimps yet, that why need dirty tank with lot of microorganism as food, only then they will morph into shrimplets , that why lot of ppl fail in breeding malaya. I don't have space for another 3~4 ft. if not i will crate a dirty tank.

80% of my shrimp all kicked the bucket.... was away and seems the temp got too high. so sad. still got 4 survivors. hope they can rebuild the colony... will also consider air stone as was suggested earlier... i iz sad.

you need algae and floating plants to cover the tank top, you can induce algae first then floating plants.

Do i need air bubble? No need filter right?

where to get malayan shrimps? can't find in Penang

Need your advice/recommendation.

Am contemplating on hooking up a chiller as the UP Aqua fan can't really make it for me...in terms of maintaining the temperature (fluctuates quite a lot) and it's noisy.

Since I've just bought & used the Eheim 2213 I'm hoping not to change the cannister now, so the chiller would have to be able to still perform with it.

Did some search and came across a few that could be suitable:

1) Iceprobe by Coolworks
2) Resun Mini-200
3) Hailea HC100A/130A

Which one of the above would compliment 2213, and at the same time not so noisy? I've got limited space to put a chiller and at the same time particular about noise. Yes, I can be very picky sometimes

Iceprobe looks OK but slightly hassle to hook it up, and not easy to get it w/ temperature controller to be exported to Malaysia, plus it would require a power converter as well since mostly are US version.

I've reduced the media in the cannister (removed 1/2 of default ceramic rings & carbon pad (replaced w/ purigen instead)). This has slightly improved the flow but still not much to the bottom to uproot/move the plants.

Currently still cycling my tank, fighting algae and busy traveling, so have time to do more research.

Anyone here hook up certain chiller to their 2213? Any advice/recommendation on chiller is much appreciated.

The normal CPU case fan didn't work for you? I'm using the CoolerMaster 90cfm 19db silent fan. seems pretty silent to me . can barely hear it unless I place my ear next to it. Lowers my tank temp by around 2-3 deg

I already removed all the coral stone. The one you see in the tank is the only one left, cos my shrimps like to hang on it, i just left it there.
Normally last time i just put one to two pcs size of old rm0.20 or rm0.50 coin in the filter. Using coral stone is not a long term solution.
I shifted to benibachi mineral stone.

Yes, I hooked up eheim 2213 to Hailea HS-28A 1/10 hp chiller for 1yrs++ with a 2ft shrimps tank. Flow is below average, but since i don't need high flow with shrimps, i bear with it before clogged hose and stuff reduce flow to pathetic drip and i lazy to clean all those hose, i replace it with eheim 2215 till now.
Noise only when power-up to start chilling when temp. raise above preferred temperature.
I have an Resun CL-650 too.
Hailea is known to be quieter than a Resun anytime.
You may want to get Hailea HS-28A since the price different is like RM200++ then a old model HC100A/130A.

I could take out my NoiseBlocker fan from my radiator currently cooling my rig, but then again fan makes evaporation quite high - so it's quite troublesome to topup everyday, and especially more so when I travel often for work. That's why I'm looking into chiller instead, as I won't have to trouble any family member to topup the water everyday. An ATO is not so cheap, and it works better if it's with a sump instead of directly to the tank, IMHO.


OK, thanks much for the input bro. Glad to know it works with Hailea HS-28A albeit the low flow. Just hoping to *preferably* get to utilize the 2213 before upgrading. But then again, worse case scenario would be to sell it off and get a 2215 or something better.

Read that HS-28A is a replacement for HC-150a and runs quieter, so glad you can verify that it runs quietly too. Where did you get your HS-28A and estimated pricing for it? Haven't seen it in the LFS I went to..... usually it's the other HC models that's more common.

So basically with Eheim 2215 and HS-28A you have no issues with flowrate? Are you using the spray bar or lily pipe?

If only the Eheim pro3e types have a smaller version... that would be great!
