1) you adopt 1 sugar glider...mean it lack of socialize activity.
2) your sugar glider inside the cage, you don't need scare but you need to let SG knowing your exist.
3) Sugar glider like to play with new toys ....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXXi52t7IS8
4) Sg food maze expriment, let them to think  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=328k5KigMTU
Summary you need time & patient to interactive/socialize;

Hi thanks for the advise, Well I wanted to adopt 2 but my gf does not allow and scare there is no time for 2. So i will be getting a wheel for him soon. And currently my SG doesnt really run away from me but will smell my hand BUT sometimes he will bites me sad.gif but i continue let him bite for few times to let him know that i'm not a threat. Is it a good thing to do?
And this weekend i will clean up my bed room to SG proof, should i allow my SG to go free when my SG still not very bond with me?

Getting 2 won't make u spend more time smile.gif u still have to cut fruit, u still have to clean the cage.
But u really need to consider whether getting a male or female.
Male is smelly when they are sexually matured and male + male = not good.
If female then u need to consider whether to neuter the male otherwise u have to make sure u can take care of babies.

When I have my first glider, she likes to bite and wrestle my finger, some sort of entertainment for her. And some suggest that's an act of boredom.
But once I got a second glider, she doesn't do that anymore.

Bite or nib, there's a different.
If it was a fierce bite, then u have to take it but be smart, dun offer finger tip, offer the back of the hand.
Also if it is a bite because u r too rough with him, then just be gentle.
If nib, then he might be hungry, bored, or he's trying to groom u. Either case, it means something, u should not ignore.

My younger glider used to strike me fiercely before we bond. Now she still bite me, hard, if she is hungry.
The older sister will nib my finger cuticles trying to groom me. Miss those days she wrestle with my finger sad.gif

Hi all! Hoping for some advice from experts :[

I recently got a male glider (roughly 1 year old) to teman my female glider (very tame, 2 year old). The male glider is okay, bonding with me going okay so far.

My problem is ever since he joined the family, he's been chasing my female glider non stop ONLY trying to mount her and mate with her. She always crabs and marah him back (obviously not in the mood). At first I thought it's because maybe she's in heat, but it's been 2 weeks and still all he wants to do with her is mate. No playing or just getting to know each other. I started noticing some small bald patches and possibly wounds? But no blood...on both gliders too. Are these mating wounds? The girl has a small one on the shoulder, the boy has a long line right above his tail.

Is this normal when a male suggie meets a female suggie for the first time? The female suggie is fine with him if he's not trying to mate with her or minding his own business, so I think territorial-wise everything is ok. Eating also ok, they don't fight over it. Surprisingly they sleep in the same pouch too. It's just this mating issue! Any help is greatly appreciated icon_question.gif tq!

HPW & fruits is sufficient already.

Try not to use HPW instant, it's friggin expensive.

got both of my sugar gliders on friday night and so far they are adapting the new environment very well.

my only concern for now is when is the optimal time for me to clean the left over fruits and the tray? So far I am trying to put a schedule their cage and only the evening time when i come home after work seem is the only time i can do that.

If so, will the left over fruits attract ants? So far I have yet to encounter any problem with pests infestation in their cage but I am trying to prevent it to happen.

I feed mine at night & by morning it's already infested with ants.
It'll attract ants sooner or later if your house have an ant hive somewhere within your walls.
Use this: http://www.seraiwangi.com.my/ as an insecticide, it's made of natural ingredient & pretty common.

Continue feeding her with stuffs which are good for her e.g. papaya or bak choy. SGs won't starve themselves to death, so when she's hungry, whether she likes it or not she'll eat one.....unless it's really non-edible la lol.

Yeah, I am thinking of doing a bit of pesticide shopping soon. The ants in my house are the Odour House Ants where it have a stint of sweet smell upon pressing them. Both of my suggies seems to hate the ants as they do crabbing upon seeing ants on their food hehe. Will keep this posted on the ants thing. Its quite annoying honestly.

Try /PetStore section, might be luckier there.
Go and meet up with the breeders, you don't have to buy just by meeting them. Then choose which joey you like most.

Just be alert with the chemicals that might be in the pesticide.

A colleague of mine gave me this ant bait that is in powder form. Poured along their path and its the second day now, there isn't any ants around the suggie's cage. The serai wangi isn't really effective on the ants but is very effective on the odour. But the serai wangi is deadly against black and red ants but not the odorous home ants.

Just two weeks with them, the male started to climb all around me while the females likes my hand feeding except that she is still a little protective when I approach her.

A quick question, how do we have the sugar gliders to get into the bonding pouch?

It takes a while for them to be comfortable with the bonding pouch.
1 technique is get a piece of cloth & toss it into their sleeping pouch for days. Their scent will be rubbed all over that small piece of cloth. So put the scented cloth into the bonding pouch, they'll feel more comfortable now.
