QUOTE(ejoeflizzow @ May 13 2013, 10:49 AM) Hey there, wanna ask about mating those SG.. Any recommended age for male n female? I've got 2months female and just bought 3 months male to mating them.. is it ok with those age? still put them in separate cage cuz still new.. I'm still new in this.. The male already at the right age. You never needs to worry about the males when it comes to mating anyway. The female however are too young. I suggest you to put them in separate cages as the male might attempt to rape the female and ends up injuring her. Try when the female is around 4 months old. |

QUOTE(NightHeart @ May 20 2013, 01:34 AM) Do travel a bit further to Aman Suria, it's probably another 10 minutes drive from Dr Yeoh. There's a clinic there called Hands & Paws where Dr Jenny is based there at certain days. For neutering both are also ok. You dont really needs consultations or medicine. My experience with Dr Yeoh: My SG went for a swim in my bathroom for god knows how long because when I enter my bathroom, she's already swimming. I quickly took her out & dry her up with tissue (believed that tissue is more absorbent) & kept her close to me whole day to keep her warm. Well, she seems normal after that, only unusual behavior is being extra active at the wrong timing (daytime). So I brought her to Dr Yeoh, when it's finally my turn, I explained why I'm there & he asked me to place her on the table. I did exactly that & my SG was indeed active, jumped & climb around me as usual. Then after 2 minutes of monitoring he declare that my SG is fine & I'm good to go. I was charged like RM30 or RM40 (couldn't remember) for 4 minutes of his time & opinion. No medicines, didn't even touch my SG, purely looked for 2 minutes, gave an opinion & charged RM30. My experience with Dr Jenny: My SG was hissing, so I brought her to Dr Jenny instead. Did the usual; told her why I'm there & showed her my SG. Dr Jenny probed a lot, she ask many questions from my SG's diet, to habit, cage environment, behavior etc. Placed my SG on a scale to check her weight, Dr Jenny also check the pouch & the whole body too. Then she said that she suspect it could be constipation & explain what could have caused constipation, we discussed a bit on other health issues too. Then she gave my SG de-worm syrup & laxative to clear my SG's gut. In the end, she charged nearly the same amount as Dr Yeoh even though I took like 30 minutes of her time & even got some medications. So that's why from then on, I only go to Dr Jenny for the usual check ups. Yeoh and Jenny both neutered by gliders in the past. In the past Dr. Yeoh were the only surgeon using gas anestatic, so he was recommended as gas cause less complications compared to needle anesthetics. Now Dr. Jenny also uses gas anesthetic. So both are ok in my opinions for neutering. Dr. Yeoh's procedure will remove the ball sack entirely, which gives a prettier smoother look in my opinion. Dr. Jenny will just potong inside and wont remove ball sack, which gives natural look. She also charge a bit cheaper for the procedure so the choice is yours. |

QUOTE(mengfart @ Jun 13 2013, 01:28 PM) Ca:P is what? HPW?? sorry i have no idea what those are.. lol.. You need to do more research then.will they get very loud at night? RM30 per month is acceptable since they don't require injections right? Ca:P is the calcium phosphorus ratio for glider foods. Glider body will need 2x of the amount of calcium for each phosphorus consumed or else their body will draw the calcium from their bones thus making them prone to bone diseases. So the fruits/food you wanna give you need to observe the calcium-phosphorus ratio. HPW is one of the supplements with balanced Ca:P ratio. You can see tables of the ratio here: http://www.sweet-sugar-gliders.com/calcium...tios_sorted.pdf They have different personality. Some like to cry for your companion at night. Other just like to play around the cage. If you have wheels in your cage, then they usually occupy themselves with that cage, which might be noisy if it is in your bedroom. Gliders if well keep usually doesn't need many vet visits. But if they shows serious sign of sickness usually a bit too late already. I would suggest once or twice a year for medical checkups and IMMEDIATE vet visit if shows any symptoms of sickness. This post has been edited by emino: Jun 13 2013, 01:47 PM |

QUOTE(Shamanwee @ Jul 10 2013, 11:02 PM) guys, my gliders fur getting yellowish....and it is smell bad...the smell most probably comes from the urine....any idea how can i prevent from tis happen ? i wash the pouch every week~ Urine came mostly from wheel instead of pouch, since pouch is super absorbent. |

QUOTE(NightHeart @ Oct 11 2013, 12:03 AM) You have to trim his nails, it'll grow so sharp that it'll be like needles. When it jumps onto you, then nails will be practically penetrating your skin. The most important reason why you need to trim the glider's name is for the welfare of the glider itself. Then depends on how sensitive your skin is, you may get rashes or infections. For me, it'll bruise & itch like mosquito bites. The nail can get tangled onto their pouch or toys, and gliders when they are stuck the often becomes stress and will starting to eat its own hand in order to release itself. This could lead to further self harm and excessive bleeding and will eventually leads to their death. |

QUOTE(Jinq. @ Dec 3 2013, 02:14 PM) Guys, is it possible for me to keep the glider in my bedroom? Will they be too loud? I'm planning to get one and will be able to spend whole of my day with them. Do you have wheels? Does the glider have company? If there are wheels, it will be annoying at first but you'll get used to the sound later on. Single glider tends to bark out of loneliness. Will be hard for you to sleep and can often woke you up. Although there are exceptions. Ted, my old glider is now used to being alone and no longer barks at night. |

QUOTE(miko1711 @ Dec 15 2013, 12:41 AM) Hi all, Your gliders male or female? If it is male is it neutered?I have a female sugar glider aged 4 years old but I'm unable to spend as much time as I was during my uni life because I have started to work few months ago. I would like to know should I get her a "cage mate" after all these years being alone ? Thanks ! If yours is male, getting him another male would be the best option, but your cage will stink like crazy unless you have both of them neutered. If you want to get a female partner, it is always advised for you to get another adult glider instead of joey, because we fear the male might attempt to mate with your glider before she is ready which can cause injury and premature pregnancy which might lead to death. If your is female then nothing to be worried about as they tolerate younger gliders better, be it male and female. Female-female pair is the best option as they wont be marking all over the place like unneutered male-male. For starters, let them stay in separate cage, but place the cages near each other so that they will get used to the scent. Then bring both out to play in neutral area to see their interaction with each other. Wear a thick glove just in case they fought as you might need to separate them. If they are okay in neutral area, you can then try bring them out in the same pouch. If all is good, time for one to move into another's cage. EDIT: Ok I just saw it is a female. QUOTE(purple115 @ Dec 19 2013, 03:40 PM) hello all glider papa and mama, Im new to sugar glider just bought 3 days ago..he is 2 months old..but I had problem on his diet.. Your HPW use what honey? Or the one with honey included? Might need to change the honey.I usually will try feed them a bit later than usual as it would make them hungry. When in hunger they will usually just eat what you serve. In a way this is to teach them not to be picky. |

QUOTE(emmmuck @ Dec 23 2013, 02:02 PM) i searched online shown that sg is social animal. if stay alone will bcum paranoid, and depressed when kept alone, and will even self-mutilate. In most cases, yeah. But some are loners and antisocial. And some, considers you as a social partner as well if they are bonded properly, so they can be miserable if their owner suddenly change one day.is it true? So must be sure you can be totally committed to them before deciding. This post has been edited by emino: Dec 23 2013, 05:10 PM |

Now that I've finally calmed down, I guess its time for this update.
![]() My sugar glider, Ted Remus Lupin aka Teddy had leave our world on the day of July 2nd. Teddy had been a great friend to me over the course of 6 years. It is like losing my own family. Over the duration when I was with Teddy we had endure some major events together. We've survived 3 job changes, 2 major motorcycle accidents (and many minor ones) and heck, even a storm that blow over our roof, literally. He was my friend. My very dear friend. And thank you for being my friend for the last 6 years. R.I.P Teddy. I will miss you, always. |

QUOTE(kimyee73 @ Aug 4 2014, 04:13 PM) At couple of hundred ringgit each, you want to keep it outside? Facebook.I'm interested in SG as well but found this thread has slowed down. Where are everybody? Anyway, I learnt my lesson of not keeping glider outside the hard way. Teddy, my sugar glider of six years died after a few weeks of living outside at the balcony due to the recent heatwave (I changed houses). This post has been edited by emino: Aug 4 2014, 04:16 PM |
