got both of my sugar gliders on friday night and so far they are adapting the new environment very well.

my only concern for now is when is the optimal time for me to clean the left over fruits and the tray? So far I am trying to put a schedule their cage and only the evening time when i come home after work seem is the only time i can do that.

If so, will the left over fruits attract ants? So far I have yet to encounter any problem with pests infestation in their cage but I am trying to prevent it to happen.

I feed mine at night & by morning it's already infested with ants.
It'll attract ants sooner or later if your house have an ant hive somewhere within your walls.
Use this: http://www.seraiwangi.com.my/ as an insecticide, it's made of natural ingredient & pretty common.

Yeah, I am thinking of doing a bit of pesticide shopping soon. The ants in my house are the Odour House Ants where it have a stint of sweet smell upon pressing them. Both of my suggies seems to hate the ants as they do crabbing upon seeing ants on their food hehe. Will keep this posted on the ants thing. Its quite annoying honestly.

Just be alert with the chemicals that might be in the pesticide.

A colleague of mine gave me this ant bait that is in powder form. Poured along their path and its the second day now, there isn't any ants around the suggie's cage. The serai wangi isn't really effective on the ants but is very effective on the odour. But the serai wangi is deadly against black and red ants but not the odorous home ants.

Just two weeks with them, the male started to climb all around me while the females likes my hand feeding except that she is still a little protective when I approach her.

A quick question, how do we have the sugar gliders to get into the bonding pouch?

I have a urgent concern to look into. One of my female glider have a potential swollen eye and she refuse to let me hold her to do a closer inspection. If I need to send her to the vet, how am I going to handle her during the consultation? The bonding between me and the her isn't strong yet and I usually have to rely on the male glider to get her attention.

Current eye condition is that there is some white discharge beside her eye and slight swell at the bottom.

Do i have to seprated them for 8 month?the female matured at 8 am i rite?
1 more thing, my joeys crabbing when i give her hpw.. how to get her to drink hpw? rclxub.gif

Try to put away your hand first. I used to handfeed my gliders HPW by using mini straws or a syringe. As long as they dont smell you, they wont crab that much. Just have patient on introducing food to them.

Now to my updae on my female glider, good and bad all come at once tongue.gif

Good news is she's pregnant. According to the pouch fluffiness, it seems like there is 2 joeys coming out soon and I mistaken her slow activity due to her eye swell.

Eye swell subsided after given her a quick home remedy with natural eye seline and warm water wipe (Google hangout session with my fellow vet friend in States while doing so). Appointment made with Dr Yeoh since the clinic is super near to my house.

The bad news is her nails are super long. Eye infected due to her forceful action of pulling off her nail from getting stuck. After a night in the nail trimming track, she can now easily remove her nail from getting stuck and will see from there.

She crab less now. Will peep peep like that when I call her name then see no foods she'll hide back into pouch. I'll let her out and play but she still will jump back into the cage whenever she had the chance.

She'll a really picky eater, will always pick out carrots and left there. Haha
*
LOL my gliders love carrots! I gave them baby carrots and they finish them really fast. Usually I gave them 3 gliders servings. Only thing they dislike the most is bananas they hated it to their guts and insisted me to clear them out as they poop on the bananas.

Visited Dr. Yeoh 2 weeks back but didn't get to write in here. He confirmed that the swell is a doing from the long nails and there isn't any sign of tooth decay, cyst growth or eye infection that requires incision and drainage procedure.

Early in the evening, the female glider was giving birth, happened the moment when I came back from my dinner. She was making a weird tune which sounds like singing but is actually a softer barking and hissing that caught my attention made me to go and check in her sleeping box. She gave birth to 2 joeys and her pouch is wide open now.

Sadly didn't able to take any video or pics as the female glider is very very sensitive to bright lights sad.gif

Edit : Manage to cox her to "expose" her pouch by feeding her mealies and here is the pic :

Hi, may I ask is Exo Terra Explorarium is suitable for sugar glider?
I just adopted pair of SG since one month ago.
I am studying at KL now and I need to go back home town(Ipoh) for 2weeks+- on Chinese New Year.
Should I buy another new cage or Exo Terra Explorarium 45 to put at my home town's house? rclxub.gif

link for the Exo Terra Explorarium

Explorarium can be used as a travelling house for your gliders. They can be used for temporary living area. Just make sure there is enough of climbing toys and foraging toys to keep them occupied. If your gliders are adult size, the explorarium might be too small for them and cage is a better option.

I know a few friends of mine who kept gliders uses the exploranium to carry their gliders around places for not more than 2 weeks or so. Best is to wait till others voice their opinion before you concluding your decision.

Yo, the pic above is your glider that i got from you, Mico, she gave birth to a twin joey 2 days back biggrin.gif Mickey is hyper active now and well behaved. I gave him full trust in by letting the cage door open while I am around and he somehow knows when to go back to cage after exploring smile.gif

Thanks! They are adapting real good. Mickey initially refused to come out till I accompanied him for nearly a month and one night, he jumped on my shoulder and since then, he came out more often than before. Mico on the other hand is a sneaky one. She came out to roam on the 3rd night at my house and luckily Mickey "called" out for Mico and she went back into the cage tongue.gif. Since then I have to cox her into the bonding pouch to carry her back to the cage else she will refuse to return haha.

Is the glider sleeping alone or with companion? usually when they snuggle around, they will make that sound to sound their irritation. If its making the sound when sleeping alone and constantly making the sound, its more likely that the glider is in pain or sore somewhere.

The sound make is a combination of hissing and crabbing
