MTGO (the WoTC online Magic) is all about virtual cards. Last time I heard, they give you a free Core Set precon in MTGO for you to preview/learn the program. You will need to buy boosters if you want to continue beyond that.

I believe once you collected all the cards for a given set, you can redeem for real cards (that's what I heard, I don't play Magic Online)

All right guys, 10K competition KL was a wrap on Sunday with Vincent Chan retaining his title by winning Mark from Singapore in the finals. Kudos to all those who made top 24 and Vincent who won his second consecutive 10K KL championship. For those who did not make it, well, practise and try again at 10K Singapore hahhahahha as 10K KL will be around same time next year (Singapore will be around June/July, date not confirmed).

Here is the breakdown of the price structure: -
Champion USD 2.5K
1st runner-up USD 1.5K
3rd and 4th USD 1K each
5th - 8th USD 500 each
9th-12th USD 400 each
13th - 18th USD 300 each
19th - 24th USD 200 each
Top 4 amateur USD250each.

Top 64 wins an Extended Art card, deck tin and a T shirt.

Once again, this is an annual event with a total price money of USD10,380.00 to be given away. And since Singapore and Philipines is neighbouring our country, the VS community has 3 major events to look out for each year.

On monthly basis, VS players stand a chance to win USD250 from Pro Circuit Qualifiers. There are two categories, sealed and constructed so the total price money is USD500 monthly. Weekly prices are RM25 for the winner.

So, what are you guys waiting for? Drop by Toybox in Amcorp Mall PJ, First floor to get it started with VS system.

There are some ways to play MTG.
1) Play with real cards.
2) Play with virtual cards.
3) Play both if you're that rich.

If you're migrating from playing real cards to virtual cards via MTGO, you can pack up yr cards from core set (7th) + Expansion (Invasion onwards), send them to WOTC and they'll convert those cards to virtual cards. In there you can play MTG whole year round anytime, anyday. At any point in time you want to go back to playing with real cards, you can get WOTC to convert those virtual cards back to real cards. I'm not too sure about the procedure though because once you're on MTGO you wouldn't want to go back to playing real cards already. That's what they said.

ah well, sometimes playing cards is also about meeting people, shaking your opponents hand at the conclusion of a game, acknowledging applause or applauding along. If all were converted to Online, well then, TCG's will just turn into another online game.

Ermm...have to check with MTG website for it. I haven't visited that website since the release of Mirrodin expansion.

True part of playing TCG is abt meeting ppl. With the release of MTGO, WOTC is able to reach to other consumers and add another dimension to the already famous TCG. If u can't sleep at 2am, just logon and draft with someone from another part of the world. Of cos as long as you've the $ to supplement the playing.

hey guys,

I'm conducting an unofficial poll at the moment. Are there any card gamers here from ampang, wangsa maju, gombak or melawati? If you are, where do you get your cards?

Ok why not conduct a general poll instead. Where do you guys/gals get your cards from? Please state shop name & location.

I used to get mine from Comics Corner, Subang & Bangsar.

Hey hey, I stopped playing MTG after Kamigawa, but Ravnica is such a hot set...I wanted to play it. However, shelling out RM 65 (or was it RM 70) for a dual land was just too much for me. So I stopped for a while. I used to hang out at Summit. Anybody go there for MTG?

It's free. Apprentice, that is. Not the official MtG online card game (lol players are stupid spending REAL money for digital game cards). And unlike the official one, Apprentice's cards are all texts, no pictures.

And playing via. Apprentice is much better compared to the real thing. It's a b**** to pay RM3248732187215 for a good set of rares/uncommon to go with your deck, only to find it being obsolete once a wisecrack found a new deck combo that would totaly wreck your deck, or once a new expansion comes out, with loads of cards that could easily defeat your deck. Staying competitive in MtG for real isn't something most people could afford.

Wonder if the shop is still there. Which part of Petaling Street it was located?

I used to frequent the Mtg shop in Berjaya Plaza (the building connected to Time Square via Monorail) as it was nearest. It closed down quite some months ago.
