Scorpions

Scorpions are eight legged venomous invertebrates belonging to the class Arachnida, and the order Scorpiones. They are related to spiders, mites, ticks, and harvestmen as well as other members of the Arachnida class. They possess an extended body and a segmented, erectile tail ending with the telson (the sting). There are roughly 1,300 species of scorpions worldwide.

Range & Habitat
Though most prolific and diverse in warm habitat, scorpions have adapted to a wide range of environments, including plains and savannahs, deciduous forests, mountainous pine forests, rain forests and caves. Scorpions have been found at elevations of over 12,000 feet in the Andes Mountains in South America and in the Himalayas of Asia, as well as the Alps. In snowy areas, they hibernate during the cold months of the year. In drought areas they may aestivate (pass the summer in a dormant or torpid state).

About 90 species are found in the U.S. All but four of these naturally occur west of the Mississippi River. Scorpions are most common in southern Arizona and in parts of Texas and central Oklahoma.

Description

The scorpion's body has two parts, a cephalothorax which contains the prosoma, or head; and the abdomen. The cephalothorax is covered by the carapace, a hard bony or chitinous outer covering. The carapace usually suports a pair of median eyes at the top center. Two to five pairs of lateral eyes are found at the front corners of the carapace, though a few cave and montane forest litter-dwelling scorpions are eyeless. Chelicerae, the scorpion's mouthparts, and a pair of pedipalps, or claws used for prey capture and mating complete the head anatomy. The pedipalps are covered with trichobothria, sensory setae, that sense air-borne vibrations.

The abdomen is made up of the mesosoma, the main body, and the metasoma, the tail. The mesosoma, protected by bony armour, contains the lungs, digestive organs and sexual organs, as well as bearing 4 pairs of walking legs and the pectines. The tips of the legs have small organs that detect vibrations in the ground. The pectines are feathery sensory organs which hang beneath the abdomen and trail on the ground. They are coated by chemosensors that provide detection of minute chemical signals that are thought to alert the scorpions to the approach of prey and also to be of use in mating behavior. The respiratory structure, known as "book lungs," are spiracles that open into the scorpion's body. The surfaces of the legs, pedipalps, and body are also covered with thicker hairs that are sensitive to direct touch.

The metasoma curves up and ends in the telson, which bears the bulbous vesicle containing the venom glands and a sharp, curved aculeus which delivers the venom.

Most species of scorpions reach adulthood at a length of between 2 and 3 inches. The longest scorpion in the world is probably the African Scorpion (Hadogenes troglodytes) which grows to over 8 inches in length. In the U.S., members of the genus Hadrurus (giant desert hairy scorpions) are probably the largest, growing to a length of about 5 inches.

Behavior

Scorpions are nocturnal. They often ambush their prey, lying in wait as they sense its approach. They consume all types of insects, spiders, centipedes, and other scorpions. Larger scorpions may feed on vertebrates, such as smaller lizards, snakes, and mice if they are able to subdue them. They capture their prey with their pedipalps, paralyzing them with their venom as well if necessary. The immobilized prey is then subjected to an acid spray that dissolves the tissues, allowing the scorpion to suck up the remains.

As well as being predators, scorpions are also prey. Many types of creatures, such as centipedes, tarantulas, insectivorous lizards, birds (especially owls), and mammals, including shrews, grasshopper mice, and bats hunt scorpions for food.

Life Cycle

The pedipalps are used in scorpion courtship behavior. The male performs a kind of dance with the female, grabbing her pedipalps with his own and dragging her across the ground until he locates a preferred place to deposit his spermatophore, which is then drawn up into the female's genital pore, near the front on the underside of her abdomen. Some species' courtships include a sexual sting of the female by the male.

Scorpion gestation periods vary from several months to a year and a half, depending on the species. Each brood will consist of about 24-35 young. They are viviparious - the young develop as embryos in the female's ovariuterus. The young scorpions are born two at at time, climbing onto their mother's back to be carried there until their first molt in about two weeks, when they will be large and strong enough to take care of themselves.

Scorpions do not metamorphasize as they grow, changing only in size and sometimes to a deeper color with each molt. Typically five or six molts over two to six years are required for the scorpion to reach maturity. The molting is accomplished by a split in the outer covering through which the scorpion must crawl in order to grow.

Scorpion lifespans range from three to five years, though some species are thought to live 10-15 years. Some kinds of scorpions show more sophisticated social behaviors, like colonial burrowing, and living in familial groups that may share burrows and food.

Scorpion Venom

Scorpion venom is used to subdue prey and to defend against threats, as well as in the mating process. The composition and action of the venom varies from species to species. The venoms are mixtures of salts, small molecules, peptides, and proteins. The peptides are specialized; some act against invertebrates and some against vertebrates, and some target both. This complex formula results in a neurotoxin which depolarizes the nervous system of the victim.

Scorpions are apparently able to regulate the delivery of the venom in scale to the size of their target. Some scorpions are known to produce a transparent prevenom in addition to the more potent opaque venom which is loaded with additional toxin. The use of the prevenom occurs at the initiation of the threat or opportunity. If the action persists, the opaque venom is released. These abilities enable the scorpion to conserve the venom for use when it is needed most, for larger predators or prey.

Medically Significant Scorpion Species
Most of the more venomous scorpions have lighter, more delicate pedipalps and larger, stronger tails. The Buthidae family contains most of the scorpions dangerous to man. They can generally be distinguished by the triangular sternal plate on their ventral side. Other species' sternal plates are more square or pentagonal.

Only one species of scorpion in North America and about 20 others worldwide have venom potent enough to be dangerous to human beings. The North American species, Centruroides exilicauda (formerly called C. sculpturatus), is found over much of Arizona and Mexico. It is also known as the Arizona Bark Scorpion. A small population occurs in extreme southeastern California, and a few records exist for southern Utah and small parts of Texas, New Mexico and Nevada. The venom of this scorpion can cause severe pain and swelling at the site of the sting, numbness, frothing at the mouth, respiratory difficulties, muscle twitching, and convulsions. The sting is more dangerous to infants, small children and the elderly. Death is rare, especially in more recent times. An antivenom was created by Arizona State University but is no longer being produced, and is not FDA approved. The FDA has recently given approval for clinical trials to evaluate a Mexican antivenom for use in the United States.

What scorpion is it? Asian Forest scorpion(heterometrus sp.) or African Emperor scorpion(pandinus emperator)?

market price for adult asian forest scorpion is rm35, emperor is rm80.

Scorpions can live to 7 yrs but average is 5 yrs. They are easy to care for. Minimal maintainance and cost. They walk around a little more compared to tarantulas. They looks very garang...which is like. Hehe. And the coolest thing...try putting one under UV light in a dark room. All scorpions glow fluoracent green or yello under UV light. Its so bright u would think its fake. But its natures miracle.

Anyway at rm20 its very cheap. Enjoy!

It's diet include insects, small lizards, pinkie mice and variety of foods that fit it's size (insects must not to big).
But i guess in petshop here, you can get mostly crickets and mealworms only.
About 3-5 crixs is enough for 1 whole week.(matured scorp)

With the offer of Rm 20, i think he will get an AFS rather than AES.
From what i read, both are good for beginner.
But i wonder why sometimes they named it H.Spinifer and sometimes H.longimanus, both are AFS?

The stings for this two species and many other species are not fatal.
Even the fatal one, they deliver only very little amount of venom that only could kill a children, elderly if it's not taken well.
But still, have to be very carefull dealing with them as you dont want to take the pain for being pinch or sting.

H.Spinifer and H.Longimanus look almost identical. Very difficult to tell the difference. And both species can be found in malaysia. I only know someone told me this...spinifer pincers are broader n shorter compared to longimanus pincers are more slender n longer but then p.imperator pincers r a lot more broad and short. That is why most ppl will say heterometrus sp. meaning species(sp.) coz they cant guarantee which species it is, spinifer or longimanus.

Heterometrus sp. and Pandinus Imperator arent dangerous. They are actually tame and only sting in severe situations. I've never been stung b4 and only seen the small scorpions use their stingers on crickets. But they big pincers can cause some pain and even make you bleed. But its just a normal wound. I also have never been in that situation...just one of my housemates. Hehe.

Here are some Heterometrus sp. i got. I currently have 2 adults and babysitting 2 more adults for a friend.

sorry..this picture not so nice. use low end digital camera. They actually glo very brightly under UV light.

Anyway make sure when u get your scorpion, provide it with a water in a shallow dish and feed it once a week with 3 or 4 crickets. If u wanna handle it...take it by the tip of the tail.

Hey,

Your Scorpion looks pregnant. I was an owner of the Asian Forest Scorpion which I obtained for RM50 at PETS WONDERLAND 3 years back. Looked exactly like yours witht he bloated stomach and strech carapace. Was looking for the dangerous species like the yellow fat tailed scorpion which supposedly can kill a human being within 8 hours but lack of choices let me to this baby. Saw the whole birth giving process and mine actually gave birth to 38 babies all fragile and white in color. smile.gif

The question I want to ask experienced pet owners here is how to take care of new born scorpions? Mine only lasted till the first molt and actually turned black in color, then day after day one would die. TheY also canibalize each other and I would discover half eaten babies. But why would they die? I made sure I keep them in a humid place and away from harms way. Unfortunatly for the mother, she died an unfortunate death. Some red ants(Small variety) picked up her scnet and crept into my tank and ate her alive. I discovered one day when I got back that she wasn't moving and tried touching her. Still no movement till I turned her over and found a small hole in her underbelly. That was the most disapointing day of my life. I lost all cry.gif , baby scorpions and mother. Now Im a tarantula owner. SAD SAD!!!! sad.gif

Hey friend...yellow fat tail can seriously kill a human. So pls be careful n know wut u r getting into b4 buying one. Actually i want one too...now after some experience with heterometrus sp. i interested in more potent venom scorpions. But cant seem to find any in malaysia.

My female scorp just dies 2 days ago..sad...cause of death..unknown.

The scorpion nymps...leave them on their mothers back for a while. Make sure u feed them..more than usual. I read ur post also i thinking if u feed them enough. The mama scorp will actually break up the crickets and feed them to her babies on her back. Cannibalism in the case of scorpions is not high. Once moult for 1st them...u can seperate the babies. They are very fagile. And in most cases....less t han half will survive.

I am ordering p.imperator, african emperor scorpions soon and will have them for sale. Still small...juvaniles. Should be going around rm55 for one..cant confirm yet. Cant find emperor scorpions at this price...!!! hehe

Firstly my condolences to you. I hope your scorp didn't die the similar fate as mine. I hate fire ants.... mad.gif

Anyway when my scorp gave birth to her babies, it took 2 days before the process stopped. Yeah all the babies would gather on top but ocassionally 1 or 2 would fall down to the ground and get trampled on. After they all turned black in color and started leaving mom, I separated them from her into another tank with pieces of wood bark. They would gather together as would adult scorpions and when feeding time came(mini mealworms...i didn't have any other alternative food), they would grab one and run back to the wood bark. So im wondering why they died unsure.gif ? They have been getting their source of food,humidity...but still 1 a day would perished. I made sure they were away from the ants...Finally 2 were left and they dissapeared from my aquarium when i was cleaning it not to be seen again sad.gif .
Anyway as for the yellow fat tailed scorpion, I don't handle my pets even my tarantula...so getting a poisonous one wouldn't matter to me. Besidesa that the fellow color with black tail was very striking. Upon searching, I concluded that such a dangerous species if not the most, was not available on out shores. If you do get a hint of where its being sold...please let me know...

Thanks dude...

haha. Sorry i havent got any leads yet as to where to get fat tails or deathstalkers. Still looking.

Anyway for emperors and asian forests they dun usually sting u. And from my experience they very calm n relaxed. Dun really mid my hand. I can handle them safely. Never been stung b4. But u must be smart to see their reactions. Onnce they go into defensive pose then dun kacau them anymore.

If i ever get dangerous species then i will only use my chopsticks to handle them. Thats wut i use now..haha. Dun have foreceps yet.

Yeah UV pls dun on for long time...i only on for like 10 to 15 minutes in a week to see them glow for fun. Thats all.

if u guys wanna have a out of this world and extreme alien looking species. Check out the tailless whip scorpions. Haha. Google it.

NZX,
Take your time.....

As for getting stung, you won't be if you know ow to handle them. When I purchased my scorpion, the dealer showed me how to handle it by holding it by the tail and swinging it onto you hand. The tail is the safest part to hold as holding anywhere else would get you stung. BTW mine even came with tape covering its sting. I requeated it to be removed which were met with the reaction "You gila Kah". Subsequently the dealer got bitten(not stung) by it during the tape removel process... tongue.gif

Eh...??? suddently talk about ham chim peng...i feel hungry. Hahahhaa

Depends on species lar. I handle my heterometrus sp. with my hands lar. No problem at all. Kena pinch by its pincers lar...my housemate kena i didnt kena b4. But it really doesnt wanna use its stinger. Only younger scorpions will try to sting. But they are so small the stinger cant even pierce ur skin.

But i will never ever put my hand near a yellow fattail or a deathstalker. hahaha. So in the end..just wanna say..be smart. Dun simply take risks. Educate ourselves and then when we got knowledge we know wut can do and what not to do. That all lar.

Lots smaller than the asian forest scorpions u see at pet shops...those are already adults. Price not confirmed but i estimate rm55 for one. I will update lar when i get them n post pics also lar.

Anyway i suggest if anyone who got scorpions..should get a UV light..just for fun. See them glow. I really like that. HHahHahhHahh. Thats something no tarantula or bird or dog can do..haha!!!
*
ooo...thanx for replying NZX..good then, i like to rare it from juvanile so that it can grow till adult..haha, actually how to distinguish male or female? just wan to know more as i wan to be an owner.. drool.gif
how long wil take it to shipped to u? just cant wait to c it.. biggrin.gif
wat others things that i should know to rare a scorpion?
anywhere.. where u live.NZX? mayb v can come out n chat bot it..haha!! tongue.gif

Not THAT bad lar...but it is potentially fatal. Seriously. And no antivenom in malaysia. Its not that 100% of cases ppl will die. For a healthy humad adult like us...low mortality rate. But the pain is gonna suck so bad. U gonna puke and u gonna have seisure like symptoms n all....if u ever get one. Be VERY VERY VERY careful.

Ooh an i just recieved word from a friend. Someone wanna sell his 2 deathstalker adults for rm200 each. I guess get 2 then discount. Sex unknown. I know its kindda steep lar rm200. Haha. But i guess u cant really find any in malaysia. I found also coz i lookingfor quite some time already.

got a me a cute lil Heterometrus Spinifer. It's about 4.5cm from the tip of the pediphalps to the stinger.

user posted image

The enclosure: I attempted to make the false bottom thingy with 1.5cm of gravel and ~4cm of substrate... with a slope down to some rocks... I inserted 2 tubes at 2 corners but now I only have one because the lil bugger is quite good at scaling... used a plastic cactus pot as a hideout. quite comfortable for a lil scorpion.

user posted image
user posted image

It managed to scale the water droplets on the wall of the tank and was hanging upside down on the lid... got it down safely, wiped the tank's wall clean but it's still attempting to climb... any suggestions to keep it from climbing? :? I'm not sure what the humidity is because I don't have a metre... but the substrate's pretty damp.

how high of a fall can a lil scorp like mine withstand? I'm more worried if it fell on the rocks so my best bet is tht it doesn't climb...

oh yeah... the scorpion has been named ---- Devlin

Hmm...I was a beginner when I kept my Scorp...I used to spray her using those water sprays used in the hair saloons. She would come towards the source of water then move her pincers in the act of collecting water. You could see it collecting in her mouth and she would stop and finish it before wanting more.

spiders, like scorpions, have venom. They're more alike than you think.

A Tarantula's price, also like a scorpion's, would vary with the species. The more common species would be cheaper while species that are harder to come buy, would be more expensive.

Like scorpions, tarantulas should be provided an environment that they're species are native to however most tarantulas are more than happy with peat, coconut husk, vermiculite or combinations of those. It's just the matter of how dry or how damp.

The tools needed when rearing a tarantulas would be the same tools you'd use when you rear a scorpion. A forceps would come in handy.

My scorpion and my tarantulas are in the same area, they use the same substrate, the same kinda of hideout, the same spoon (for nudging), the same forceps, the same kind of food, the same kind of water....

so yeah.

Hmm he burrowed? But he should be able to take care of himself...he's probably looking for a dark and moist place to hang around. REALLY WET??? .How wet is wet? Till the gravel is soaked?? whistling.gif By then you'll probably be pouring water over him.

um... I'm not sure how to tell u how wet is wet... um... well, it's wet. u can see the water.

how to stimulate? it's in the same area as my Ts, soil, water, got a hideout but he decided to burrow behind the pot. I'd put plants but no more plants. if tht'd help, I'll get more from the store later.

sigh. my devlin, burrowed into the gravel. I think I'll have to remove the gravel before he hurts himself. wht do u think? or should i just leave it in? I've tried adding more water because the reason he digs so deep is because he likes the humidity... but apparently he likes it REALLY wet... eh.

I also seldom see them drink but they do....and they drink everyday at least once. So alwezk eep the water there for it to drink.
For now dun handle it..leave it to get used to its tank.
Grooming means cleaning itself...u will see it do that soon enuff. Look very funny wan. and interesting.

optical zoom is the real zoom , so you'd actually see the object closer. but digital zoom is actually enlarge the actual size of the object, and make u hv the illusion that the object getting closer..

correct if i am wrong tongue.gif

Yeah,

Optical zoom uses the actual lenses so that you get the original picture clarity. Digital zoom on the other hand takes the max optical zoom, then using some software magic zooms in onto the picture giving you higher zoom but lower clarity....

Never use Digi Zoom.... tongue.gif

Hope your scorps live long....smile.gif

jamesa...i oledy told them deathstalker rm200 lor. Haha. How to buy lar so expensive. I want also i cant afford.

Anyway dun worry..no food wont die wan..can survive long time,. But no water..within 2 weeks will die lar. Sometimes sooner. So dun worry if they dun eat lar. And they do drink wan..maybe u just dun see..just make sure got water for them then ok liao.

No...the stinger is a vital body part, if removed ur scorp will die. So it is not an option to remove it.

Because of lack of space(got my beardies liao) i decide to sell the 2 remaining emperors lar. Who wants? haha.

ALL species of scorpions can glow under UV light. Yup..all of em. Ask connie..she saw my webcam i showed her my scorpions glow under UV light. Hahhaha.

scorpion thread become beardie thread...hahahaha
I will ask my friend to come take pics lar. HE got a nice digicam. No use taking with webcam coz the colours arent visible.

Yup..beardies need lotssa space...and a heat bulb...they like it HOT.

So far so good..they are more active sometimes running around for no reason but still most of the time lepak under the basking lamp.

After i take pics i start another thread lar and post some pics of my beardies.

it's not a scorpion nor is it an insect. It's an arachnid. same class as the scorpion and spider.

they're not insects because they don't even belong to insecta class.

primary school if you explain to the children tht it's not insect, they get confused.

for insects:
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Subphylum: Hexapoda
Class: Insecta

for arachnids:
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Arachnida

see the difference in the class? so arachnids can't possibly be under insects because they're under arachnida class and not insecta class.
but insects and arachnids are both arthropods. same goes for Crustacean (prawn, lobsters, crab, etc.). but all different class.

last time teacher teach tht even earthworms and snails are insects rolleyes.gif

but....

(earthworms)
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Annelida
Class: Clitellata
Subclass: Oligochaeta
Order: Haplotaxida

not even in the same phylum

(snails)
Kingdom: Animalia
Subkingdom: Metazoa
Phylum: Mollusca
Class: Gastropoda

not even in the same subkingdom

eh... I don't really support catching wild critters and keeping them... if it's just for a few days to observe then it's alright.

You asking me? tongue.gif

Anyway mine went missing when my aquarium lid was open and the woodbark extended from the substrate to the opening. Two baby scorps from the litter 40 my female scorp gave birth to escaped. But that was a long time ago and If they did survive, they would be giants by now..... sad.gif

Babies died one by one for no apparent reason. In the end the only 2 survivors went M.I.A..... sad.gif

Well Im not too worried if its an Asian Forrest scorp. A "black light" would greatly help in your search for the missing scorpion.

But then u must be ready for when u do get stung/biten.
I mean...accidents DO happen. Like when u drive...u drive carefulyl also some crazy feller will bang into u. Or make a silly move that u cant avoid hitting him.
SOmething like dat lar...ready urself mentally to get tagged coz i think if we r to continue keeping them, one day sure kena one. Ask those pros lar. All kena b4 punya.

Antitdote not available like in AMERICA or AUSSIE. Normally the PRO pet handlers or the researchers will have this stock in their first aid. I think the first thing to do after being tagged is to try and squeeze out the blood from the bite area then rush ASAP to the hospital/clinic. Oh ya and identify the animal that bit you.....

If its the case of emperors and AFS....they tend not to sting you but to pinch more often. If these scorpion sp. do bite you, you need not worry too much as their venom is mild. The way to gauge the toxicity of the scorpion venow is to see if the specimen has big or small pincers. The bigger pincer scorpion uses more pincers than sting to catch and kill its prey by overpowering it. You better be wary of the small pincer sp. like the desert scorpions and especially the 'deathstalker' which someone was selling here earlier. They use their venom to kill as their pincers are small......and you'll definetly feel the affects of the venom.....and it kicks in pretty fast.... sweat.gif

Yeah, they won't give birth to so few. At least 30+. The trick is keeping them alive. My scorp gave birth to 48 but all died after a week plus....

Anyway if you free in Kulim then let me know.....then maybe you can bring me go jalan jalan.... notworthy.gif

Well you can use an aquarium(the normal type) or a terrarium like how I used which is plastic like the aquariums but is longer and not as deep. Then I put in some substrate like sand and pieces of wood for the scorpions to hide under. In my opinion they are quite easy to care for. If u neeed a picture, just imagine the adult scorpion but now shrink it to 1.5". they all look alike....unlike Tarantula spiders when young which look different from Adults....

A few guidelines on Scorpion care (I've only had experience with Heterometrus spinifer but this should work for emperor scorpions as well)

- a tank at least 4 times the length of the scorpion
- about 3 inches of soil (some enjoy burrowing)
- a hide out (flower pot, eggshell, etc.)
- a water dish (very important!) but make sure it's not too deep and your scorp and climb out of it easily so tht it won't drown. if you do use a wide dish, place a rock in the middle or side so tht the scorp can climb up it.
- decorations like rocks can be used... scorps like to hang out on it sometimes, fake plants... etc.
- keep the substrate moist. humidity should be around 75 - 80%
- make sure tht the tank has good ventilation too or mould will grow frequently in the tank.
- scorps can scale substrate and water on the wall of the tank so keep the walls of the tank clean if you have a high tank.
- their diet consist of insects(crickets) and worms (mealworms). my Heterometrus spinifer refuses to eat mealworms. only eats crickets.

tht's all I think...

- their diet consist of insects(crickets) and worms (mealworms). my Heterometrus spinifer refuses to eat mealworms. only eats crickets.

tht's all I think...

from what I know, tele_mobile is selling Heterometrus Spinifer (Asian Forest Scorpion) scorplings: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...dpost&p=5486611

Jason has some too but not sure if they're still available. his screename is chloelew

Theirs are much smaller (give or take, less than 5cm). But do take note tht scorps are very slow growers... they spend half their lives growing up so you'll have a small little bugger for quite awhile before it gets to the size of the ones sold at Pet Wonderland.

nope. u can let a fw of the same species and similar size live together but not different species together.

nice... but from the looks of it...an intermediate scorpion. We don't have alot of scorpion species here so maybe you could look into international trade.
I'd also suggest that since you're new to this, try gaining experience with a beginner scorp such as a P imperator or Heterometrus sp.

As for the Asian Forest Scorps (Heterometrus sp.) the ones being sold are bred in captivity. They can be found locally in the wild of well, asian forests. P imperator originates from Africa.

hmmm...Lazy to maintain the tank based on the rain forest theme wan la...
Besides, i like the yellow bugger more...

I think there are more choices in Sg. la.

Wellif i setup a rainforest tank, I'll have to put in more ferns and mosses and dead wood. Nice combination for a big stink blink.gif especially with the extra high humidity sumore. My hall will have the constant smell of rotting things doh.gif

The scorps will hide and not come out for food in these kind of setup ???

Ur lil guys and gals look like Heterometrus longimanus...i think.
There is so many species of Heterometrus and some of them lives around our region. So the slightest change inlocation means a seperate species altogether.

So if i get some here and some from there...won't that be mixing different sp. together ??? Won't the kids "IF" there are any be considered freaks of unidentified sp. ??? sweat.gif
This is a general statement and not side-sweepin on anyone...just my oppinion as i keep fish and tend to be a purist huh.gif

Heheh sorry my bad wrong id... blush.gif
pix too blur to see what it is heheh...pai seh pai seh

Well certain things and practices are similar for all types of hobbies...only need to tweak a lil bit to suit the situation. Fish keeping...hmmm what i meant was breeding the fish. It shud be up to the breeders' ethics not to or try hard not to create hibrids frys. So even two fish may look similar (eg : Corydoras melini and Corydoras davidsandsi) , it doesn't mean its the same species. Crossing them would result in the creation of "mutant" kids. Tats what i mean. Only strict hobbyist or dedicated breeders will know what they have.

So by the way, where does H.spinifers come from which country ? Just curious...still learnin...sorry for the mis-id just now heheh sweat.gif

Well if u wanna sell ur imperators, then sell to me la hehehe drool.gif

Oh yar...McG, Urodacus i dun think u can get here lor...here only got the spinifers and if u lucky, imperators lor...otherwise u have to go catch from the jungle lor...heheh.
I mailed someone about the Scorpio maurus palmatus...going for U$D 15 without delivery. Dunno he want to sell and send to M'sia or not sweat.gif If all ok, might be about RM80 or more leh... sad.gif
