got a me a cute lil Heterometrus Spinifer. It's about 4.5cm from the tip of the pediphalps to the stinger.

The enclosure: I attempted to make the false bottom thingy with 1.5cm of gravel and ~4cm of substrate... with a slope down to some rocks... I inserted 2 tubes at 2 corners but now I only have one because the lil bugger is quite good at scaling... used a plastic cactus pot as a hideout. quite comfortable for a lil scorpion.

It managed to scale the water droplets on the wall of the tank and was hanging upside down on the lid... got it down safely, wiped the tank's wall clean but it's still attempting to climb... any suggestions to keep it from climbing? :? I'm not sure what the humidity is because I don't have a metre... but the substrate's pretty damp.

how high of a fall can a lil scorp like mine withstand? I'm more worried if it fell on the rocks so my best bet is tht it doesn't climb...

oh yeah... the scorpion has been named ---- Devlin

Hehe...dats good for a scorpling.
Alwez have water for them. Dun cant live as long as tarantulas when theres no water and they cant suck water out of the ground like Ts. This is learned from experience.....bad experience..!!!!

hmm... i'll switch to the yogurt cover then.... they won't down? how much water do i put?

I wouldn't want my Devlin to die sad.gif

oo..not poisonous??no venom? sweat.gif
how much actually a tarantula cost?
any soil or extra tools to rare them?
*
spiders, like scorpions, have venom. They're more alike than you think.

A Tarantula's price, also like a scorpion's, would vary with the species. The more common species would be cheaper while species that are harder to come buy, would be more expensive.

Like scorpions, tarantulas should be provided an environment that they're species are native to however most tarantulas are more than happy with peat, coconut husk, vermiculite or combinations of those. It's just the matter of how dry or how damp.

The tools needed when rearing a tarantulas would be the same tools you'd use when you rear a scorpion. A forceps would come in handy.

My scorpion and my tarantulas are in the same area, they use the same substrate, the same kinda of hideout, the same spoon (for nudging), the same forceps, the same kind of food, the same kind of water....

so yeah.

nonono. I didn't mean that. The tanks are in the same area meaning that they get the same temperature, ventilation and lighting.
