The tour thingy... we thought of it a year ago. Almost started a company to start.

I even got a group of hongkies supposedly want to come to Malaysia and get guide to tour Malaysia... doh.gif

The idea surely is good... We even thought of how to do the promotion and such... but one small problem...
Who is "good" enough to work as a tour guide... physically & commercially.
Even if you point at yourself... how many u can do? How much can 1 person make? Sustainable?
He! He! He!... No worries... I am just brainstorming...
Come come... more ideas...

i no stamina liao, sure cannot guide. go kiara always endo how to guide people? laugh.gif actually herbert from KSH wanted to do that, open shop/bike touring company in KK at his hometown, he do tours. pretty sure his physical condition is better than most of us. and his sales skills quite good laugh.gif

do video filming service for bike race/jamboree for organizers or for ppl to show off DH skills, can sell to local tv or as dvd. or to promote biking tourists to malaysia.

or open cnc machining company, do precision components like pedals, stems, handlebars, seatpost, hubs, headset, seat clamps, QR, anodizing, and also machining and fabrication for non bike related stuff. laugh.gif like hope and thompson, but made in malaysia and (hopefully) cheaper. haha

Or instead of bringing tourist into the trails...
we can do a city tour or something...
that way...as long as one can cycle...can oredi....

Bcoz if u do the city guided cycling tour...ur target market opens up dramatically!

But still....there's always a catch of course....
where in Malaysia is "safe" enough for cyclist....? Maybe the Taman Tasik Perdana area will be a good start.
And a lot of tourist attractions are located in that area also. Kedai makan oso got. very very close to nature indeed!

i think city tour in msia is not that conducive... safety, hot whether and raining is very much a turn off to most

guided off road tour is not easy to promote but still be plausible.
i used to volunteer running some programs for youth in FRIM doing camping + cycling.
just 1 round up steroid and down... good enough for newbie using those cheap china made bikes.
most youth enjoyed the challenge.

i think places like FRIM and bukit cahaya are good place to develop for these activities.

Actually they have this service in Bangkok...if they can do it...I think we can ...limited to the downtown area la ...but I do agree its a challenge because logistics not that easy ...parking of the bike etc ...not easy

But I do think tourist would want to go to places that are either unique or closer to nature (city is more or less the same everywhere you go). Ie:

Category=Nature Ride
1. FRIM - i think its a must as its the most scenic place that ll tourist will like
2. Kemensah - I think they ll like a ride all the way to the Sofea Jane waterfall
3. Bkt Cahaya
4. Kiara/PCP - for the hardcore MTBer

Category=Unique city guide
1. Putrajaya= I ve joined 2 rounds of Putrajaya Interpark...you ll be a amazed at the trails they have which suits a casual rider (not that hard to cycle). You ll see parts of Putrajaya you wont see through driving ie wetlands etc..
2. KL Look up point night ride- I think its at Bkt Belacan....I know cause JW Cyc ada go there...and the look up point at night is quite nice ...

Just my 2 cent...now I wanna chabutss..window shopping since no wan in office heheheh... bruce.gif

haha no. usually its best if someone talk from experience. altho bangkok and indonesia traffic is snarlingcockintheass like that but they have a city + suburbs bike tour offer to tourist. i took up the bangkok experience a few years back and it was fun - NOT in the riding but in the interaction with the locals the 10 bath beer and the delicious street food that was available to me for free. prepaid la like that. i paid the guide so i can pick what ever i want. it was only a 50 km ride from 9am till 6pm. paid about RM150 like that.

the fun bit wasnt in the riding, but in the sight seeing the makan the interaction the bargain i got from hagglin at the notorious khlong lot black market and i was able to practice my thai you see.

rode kiara with an early group.one rode a scott 29er(carbon frame weighing in at 950gms i think).later joined by 3 other 9er bikes.tested the JET 9 RDO. can feel the foward rolling momentum and this was just on the tarmac. should feel more responsive for the hardtails...
