QUOTE(silvy @ Jan 14 2012, 03:12 PM) Looks like this is a more active thread than what i thought. Right, let me throw in sth here to make it more volcanic hahaha. in the case of a 26 vs 29er... it really comes down to what you decide to ride... i've rode a 29er before... some guy who had a carbon 29er but got it from some carbon frame manufacturer without decals (so, no idea what brand it was)I just came back frm KHS TTDI. Was offered Rm 2.8k for norco nitro 6.3. (Hardtail 26er) Test rode it. 1st time on a hardtail. Feels pretty good. I rode up the bump separating sidewalk and tarmac on a bike for the 1st time! Help...going crazy! i never taken it to trails... jus rode it around any rough stuff i can find where i test rode it and a short test as well... 29er feels much easier rolling over bumpy terrains like rocky stuff and tree roots due to a bigger wheel.. as long as you carry the momentum over those things, it doesn't seem to lose speed as fast on the other hand, i felt that a 26 is much more nippy compared to a 29er.. a 29er would be suited for or should i say stable in smooth flowing turns and would not handle the immediate and sequential tight turns where you need to flick from left to right almost immediately... a 29er is a bit lazy in those stuff... so, if you play highly technical terrain.. maybe you might have other thoughts for a 29er... but generally, it seems the way forward for the future... i read an article, can't remember if it was schwinn or fisher or some other manufacturer saying that 29er exists since the 1980s as normal bikes was built around simillar wheel sizes of 700c... but, they reverted to the smaller wheel due to more readily available tyres and that was how it was for that many years till they decided to return to 29er again in recent years... didn't really picked up till someone won races on it... other than ride feel.. i guess weight is of some issue... and 29er is essentially a bigger bike in terms of top tube length which increases as the wheel base lengthens... so smaller riders might find fitting issues... 29er parts might be hard to come by atm or there would be a lack of choices? sifus to clarify this... i write this base on 1 single ride not on trail and on a dunno wat brand carbon 29er...so, might be biased... QUOTE(guilt79 @ Jan 14 2012, 07:57 PM) Eh.. That Gary Fisher guy signature so expensive meh? father of mountain biking wor.. anyways, Trek has bought over Gary Fisher since a couple years back...My bike got his signature but was write off because my father carrying something, scratch on it.. talking about gary fisher.. reminds me of paola pezzo... fisher rider and winner of olympic gold and world cup back in the late 90s... bad ass xc rider back then... for a women... Buy today, trow can test drive... Still pay RM4.5k. Buy 4 weeks from now, can't ride until next month... Still pay RM4.5k. Aiyo... sap sap sui la. Raju's half month salary only...
