Dear all watch expert, I'm so keen on getting a 18k two tone Rolex GMT2, been looking around for new and preowned.
would like to know what would be the discounted price for new one from AD? i was quoted RM 31k from a trusted taiwanese website, worth a go?
or a pre-owned of 2003 is 22k from local preowned shop, what do you think?
since the latest model will be with ceramic bezel, would like to know the material for old models.
Thanks heaps!!

In general i find purchasing new Rolex watches in Singapore cheaper...especially once u factor in the tax back at the airport...
Also i find that the dealers there are able to flex prices more generously than Malaysian ones..
i managed to get back 6% on the purchase of my Daytona over the weekend. (after factoring the admin/service/whatever fee)

How does the VAT refund works?
Pay you by cash or dedcut from your credit card?

The downside is you only can get the GST refund at the airport. Tough luck for those using the causeway as an exit point.

Typically foreigners traveling into singapore are illegible for GST refund for items over sgd100 at most retail outlets.

One must bring the item for custom inspection at the airport before they process the refund. Passport & other travel documents will be checked also.

The refund rate is about 7% but after fees and admin the buyer will usually get back about 5-6% at most. They can either refund you in SGD or credit back the amount into your credit card (a small fee incurred this way)

and yes, it is only applicable for traveller via Air so those taking the long road from johore are not eligible for this... i dont know about travelers via sea tongue.gif

You need to fill in the proper forms at the shop where you make the purchase as well. Then bring everything to the airport to claim your refund. I got that from buying a helmet in SG tongue.gif

Hi guys, I'm planning to buy a 2nd hand watch from my friend. A Tag Heuer watch. I wanted to know if there is any place that provide a cleaning up service on watch. As in clean the watch to make it look like brand new.

And anyone here know how much it would cost to change the metal strap on Tag Heuer?

Its a simple process.

At the shop that you purchase the item from... inform the cashier that you are a foreigner and will require a GST refund.

They will fill in a little form in which u must fill in your particulars such as name, country, passport, expected date of departure etc (this form looks like a receipt kinda thing) which you must later present together with the 1) actual item receipt 2) item purchased 3) passport and other travel documentations such as boarding pass. You may not have to have your passprt and boarding pass with you at this time...you can fill in all that stuff later

Two things to bear in mind.

If you are HAND CARRYING the said item then the entire GST refund process will be done AFTER your the check in counter. You simply head to the GST refund counter in which some officers that may/may not inspect your items (usually they just have a look at it for like 2 seconds) and they chop the GST Refund Slip and guide you to a cashier area to claim back your money.

They tend to be quite laxed about this... they just saw my new rolex for like 2 seconds. Could've been any other watch in truth and they didnt bother with the rest of my purchases like shoes, clothes, belt, jewellery etc...

If you are CHECKING IN the said item then all this has to be done before you check in. same process except that they will chop your GST refund slip for you to claim INSIDE the same counter after you normally check in...

Smart singapore government want us to spend our last SGD inside their terminal rclxms.gif

I think it is a fake. I can't find the 4th hand, the GMT hand. and see-thru back case didn't mention Panerai. I could miss these details because the photo is dark.
