Anyone heard of the brand Breitling?
May I know if it is good?
Or anything on par with it?

Currently just using Seiko. Thought of changing but not sure which to go for. I want to try leather strap. |

QUOTE(saru04 @ Aug 29 2012, 10:11 PM) From the mouth of the irresistible Watch snob himself http://www.askmen.com/fashion/mens-watches...watch-snob.html Hello Watch Snob, What is your feeling about Breitling watches? I believe they utilize an “in-house” movement, are Certified Chronometers and have other unique characteristics. If I had to describe my feelings toward Breiting in one word, it would be a resounding “Meh.” To be clear, most of their watches do not use in-house movements. In fact, the vast majority of Breitling use ETA/Valjoux movements, just like Franck Muller. They have released an impressive chronograph movement in the past year or two, but it has only been rolled out to one or two models, including the Chronomat -- the ugliest watch they make. So, if you want to spend $8,000 (roughly the same as you would on the Rolex Daytona!) on an ugly Breitling, then sure, you can get one with an in-house movement. I will say, even though it uses an ETA movement, I have nothing but love for Breitling’s Navitimer. That, dear reader, is the Breitling you want. But really... which particular Brietling are you lusting after? |

and I'm also here to get suggestions on which is suitable / good for me as I have no knowledge on watches.
I'm open to suggestions and comments. So please also do let me know apart from Breitling, what other brand is good. But if possible, I would like to get recommendations from Breitlings. |

Breitling dials look too busy for my liking, never really warmed up to the brand. For aviator/pilot watches my current favorite would be IWC flieger series.

The type the watch that is suitable for you depends on how much you are willing to spend. If you are looking at Breitling you are looking at around RM10k for 2nd hand and RM20k for new. If you want something more affordable seiko and citizen are good choices.

Okay, then what do you recommend if I want something that looked like Breitling Chronomat 44 GMT?
Budget around 1k to 4k for starters since its my first. Or slightly higher also can but must be under 8k. Something similar to Breitling Chronomat 44 GMT - http://www.breitling.com/en/models/chronom...ation/index.php and Oris Artelier Chronograph - http://www.oris.ch/collections/collections...=en&modelid=234 Really need suggestions / recommendations. May i recommend the IWC Baby Pilot...a handsome piece for sure...
sticker price is about 14k and you might be able to get one for 11.5k of course for 8k you can get the previous Pilot 2nd hand... or 8k puts you into bell & ross pre-owned category also... This post has been edited by yonggoh: Aug 30 2012, 06:13 PM |

I actually haven't heard of Xetum and Guinand.
Not really into watch. Only heard of Rolex, Breitling and the typical famous ones. I'm here to get to know more brands with quality as good as the famous ones. And also get a watch with reasonable prices. That's why I'm asking for recommendations. And correction, I'm actually looking for leather bracelet strap not the two piece type.
