Sifus and experts, I 'inherited' 3 vintage watches (>20 yrs old) from my grandparents. Was thinking to send for restoration but am not sure which to restore....Valuable input needed from experts here.

[attachmentid=3023862]

[attachmentid=3023912]

The Enicar is the only automatic here. The other 2 are hand wind models.

The first one is Titoni, second is Camy and third is Enicar. Sorry for the blur pics, I tried many angles but the watches are in poor condition ie scratched plastic windows and dented case.

I actually haven't heard of Xetum and Guinand.

Not really into watch.

Only heard of Rolex, Breitling and the typical famous ones.

I'm here to get to know more brands with quality as good as the famous ones.

And also get a watch with reasonable prices.

That's why I'm asking for recommendations.

And correction, I'm actually looking for leather bracelet strap not the two piece type.

typical famous ones, one would have to pay more to help them pay their marketing cost. Unfortunately they don't come free.

Swatch group supplies alot of movement to the typical famous brands, unfortunately Rolex made their own watch from the ground up.
Breitling like many others (Tag Heuer, Omega) use mainly ETA movement.
http://www.breitlingsource.com/movements_calibers.shtml

so not famous ones such as Xetum and Guinand also uses such movements. of course they come in different grades, nonetheless they are great work horse. ie if U have heard of Sinn, Bell and Ross, google Guinand with these names and you may find a link.

what is 2 piece type?

Thank you for the recommendation.

Means brands such as Sinn, Bell, Ross and Guinand may help me find a watch within 2k to 3k?

2 piece type means the normal leather strap where one ends goes into another. Sorry not really good in explaining.

Basically, what I'm looking for is like this one - http://www.breitlingsource.com/strap_oceanracer.shtml

Titoni is the only problematic one. The hour and minute hands are not sync. For example, when the minute hands is at 12,the hour hand doesn't point directly at any numbers. The other 2 are working ok I think.

Okay, then what do you recommend if I want something that looked like Breitling Chronomat 44 GMT?

Budget around 1k to 4k for starters since its my first.

Or slightly higher also can but must be under 8k.

Something similar to Breitling Chronomat 44 GMT - http://www.breitling.com/en/models/chronom...ation/index.php

and Oris Artelier Chronograph - http://www.oris.ch/collections/collections...=en&modelid=234

Really need suggestions / recommendations.

I never meant the above in red.
what I mean is simple go on google and search "Sinn Guinand Bell and Ross" and see what pops up!
next have you heard of Sinn or Bell and Ross else the above it is moo point.

U looking for such strap? it will be hard to find in your budget, u have to get a watch and locate a 3rd party that fits. Note some company make life difficult for you, if the lug size is odd U will have a hard time finding 3rd part band, will have to custom make and that is not cheap.

Longines HydroConquest Automatic Chronograph is a great watch but it retails at ~6K! 2X your working budget.

I think you have to ask yourself what you really want in term of style and need, such as divers, do you need chrono function, GMT, aviation etc... is day date important, do you need exhibition case back

i really think interm of what kind of strap (which you wanted a leather for now) is not really important as there is always 3rd party in the market, but for such investment i think the watch should come with metal strap and invest abit for the after market strap later coz this will be more cheaper in the long run.

is brand really important? since you already set a budget of rm1-4k and max out rm8k, so i think you can forget bout all those big brand such as IWC, bell&ross and breitling. unless you dont mind pre-owned

since you have a seiko so am not going to go there, instead you can look at those german make such as the (so guess shop name cannot be listed in forum) there is one shop/island shop in pavilion offering some german make, or brand like steinhard, laco, oris and longines (but this gonna stretched to your max budget)

is solid end link important?

I understand and you made a point.

Yesterday was in Malacca and I saw a watch by Oris.

4.3k but didn't really ask the SA to take it out.

Oris is German or Swiss?

And as for choosing the style, I'm not sure what's the difference between chrono, divers and etc.

I only see that they are different in design as well as more "meters" which I don't know how to read.

But I'm just looking for something like the ones I posted (the links).
